  1. He's overrated, stole our WS ball, and did terrible last season. IMO Olerud is comin' back.
  2. I'd rather do without him for a season then do without him forever. He is the man, no doubt about it. He's a plays hard, plays smart, no complaints, all-around nice guy, would be a shame to lose him.
  3. Ohhhhh man, imagine if the Brewer's played us at fenway (interleague). Ohhh man, imagine how long and loud that booo would be. He's lucky he's not in the AL.
  4. I don;t understand why you hate this guy so much, he's actually a very good play-by-play guy and has very good chemistry w/ RemDawg. He doesn't over-dramative things much and usually gives credit where its due. Berman however made Roawnd look like a Gold Glove guy when he catches a fly ball. Mccarver is just absolutely terrible. He's like the John Kerry of Color Commentators, tries to be too intellegent. I coulda sworn he compared a pitcher to a "pianist" and if I need go farther, just check my sig.
  5. We'd need to give up a lot more than just Arroyo. Also everyone rly needs to lay off Rent, if he does bad next year then you can get on him, but even ARod had a hard time his 1st season. I'm sure he'll have his usual defensive year and will probably hit lead-off w/ Damon gone. He's been good his whole career and all things considered didn't have the worst season possible (though 20+ errors is atrocious). He's been good his whole career, in no way should we judge him on one transition season into the AL.
  6. I didn;t mean this season, i meant in the future, and lester is looking very promising in AA.
  7. The only problem is that they rely a lot on Manny and Ortiz to do all the dirty work, if the whole lineupd could get on base no matter what and do these funadmentals correctly then we would still score even if papi/Manny weren't hitting. That's why I would like to get Pierre.
  8. Exactly why I wouldn't be thrilled to sign any pitching besides B.J. Ryan Starting help: Papelbon Lester Sanchez Alvarez Bullpen help: Hansen Delcarmen DiNardo That is 7/11 right there. Who knows, Clement could stay aboard and act as veteran, Arroyo maybe, Wakefield may be 50 by then and still winning 15 games. The we also have offensive help coming C Kelly Shoppach? 1B Ian Bladgerdon? 2B/SS Dustin Pedroia SS/3B Hanley Ramirez 3B Kevin Youkilis OF Jacoby Ellisbury OF Brandon Moss OF David Murphy OF Luis Soto Thats a whole team of solid spects right there, and we have about 2/4 possible all stars in there, maybe more, maybe less. If anything we should only get temporary help with the begining of this farm help comin in.
  9. my bad, i meant preston wilson
  10. I believe I posted that I want more of an NL feel to our offense, that's why I just want to sign Payton to a 1 year contract then get Pierre next year. The reason i want one is that we seemed to be VERY inconsistent when Papi/Manny wasn't hitting and we really had to lean on Papi during easy games vs. Tampa and Toronto. If anything we could create runs and try to bunt for hits. We would catch everyone by suprise and take advantage of AL teams that didn't know how to handle it. It's exactly how the Cardinals killed us when we faced em in the regular season, they out-hustled and out-played us defensively. Imagine, we'd have Pierre, who can bunt and run like hell, steal 2nd, Rent bunt him to 3rd and Papi hit him in/sac fly him in. That's an auto 1 run and could set the tempo for many games.
  11. I'm rootin' for either the Cardinals or the Astros, the Cardinals because we swept em last year and theyre the best in the majors. The Astros cause of the Rocket. In this series I want the ANgels to win but I say the Sox in 6.
  12. 1 reason not to sign Damon to 5 year contract: Bernie Williams
  13. Washburn is too shaky for me to sign, same with Morris, I still have faith in Clement. keep in mind thats only a one year staff, then sign Zito who goes to the Berklee school of music. Bench: 1b Mark LeCroy/Travis Lee C Doug Mirrabelli Utl Alex Cora Of Gabe Kapler Of Todd Hollandsworth
  14. 2006 Wanted Roster Catcher: Varitek should do fine, hopefully he can put togetehr a full season, he hasn't lost anything on his defensive side, making a few great plays at home. Belli has 1 year left on his contract and his average dropped a little but overall is still the best backup in baseball. First Base: I wouldn't mind at all pulling the trigger on a Arroyo, Alvarez deal, but I doubt TB will be quick to accept it. If we do get Huff we get a much needed power hitter behind Manny, improving our 3-4-5. Not only can Huff jack the ball, he can use his glove too. That is the biggest reason why I want him, it would provide a much needed defensive boost and would virtally be having Olerud w/ more pop. Second Base: I'd like to have Graffy back at least 1 more season before we hand it over to Pedroia, who seems to have a promising career ahead of him. Third Base: Unfortunuatly I think Mueller has seen his last day in a Sox uni, finally giving Youk the full time job, with his salary goe we can bloster the bench. Shortstop: Hopefully Rent will work on his glovework and I think he'll have a much better season now that he has his 1st AL season under his belt. I see his power and average coming back. Outfield: I don't want Manny to go mostly because there's no way to replace him, and we'll be losing Damon in CF. I'd wait a season and sign someone to a short term deal then go after Pierre next year. Then again, I have a feeling Hanley will start there ina couple of years. Trot, though he is great defensively and can be an offensive threat when healthy has become somewhat of a nuisance. His injuries have sent the Sox in a scramble to find a replacement and left a big hole in the Sox order. I'd much prefer we trade him if possible and sign Giles to the shortest deal possible. Hopefully our OF spects will be ready soon. Rotation: Not sure I want another #3 starter in Burnett, we already have 4 of him. I'd also like to wiat on this and go after Zito next season, whos hinted he wanted to be in Boston. Schilling will be a big factor into our success this year, if he returns to ace form it could mean a 100 win season. Papelbon really excites me, if he can get some easy outs on less pitches I see him being very effective going 7 strong each time. Bullpen: Our faulter here was mostly due to injuries in Foulke and Mantei, who were a big part of the plan last year. Worst comes to worse this year is we have Hansen and Delcarmen to back them up this year. This however doesn't mean I wouldn't love having B.J. Ryan backing up Foulke. 1) SS Edgar Renteria 2) RF Brain Giles 3) DH David Ortiz 4) LF Manny Ramirez 5) 1B Aubrey Huff 6) C Jason Varitek 7) CF Preston Wilson 8) 3B Kevin Youkilis 9) 2B Tony Graffanino 1) Curt Schilling 2) Tim Wakefield 3) A.J. Burnett 4) Matt Clement 5) Jon Papelbon 1) Lenny DiNardo 2) Craig Hansen 3) Mike Myers 4) B.J. Ryan 5) Mike Timlin 6) Keith Foulke
  15. Hopefully he can get into Roger Clemens physical state and come back w/ an amazing ERA. His splitter was the main reason he got hammered. i think he needs to miz his pitches more and stop usin the fastball so much.
  16. I really don't think Burnett is as good as everyone is saying, granted I wouldn't mind him cming here, unless its for a bloated contract. Papelbon should be in the rotation, I project him starting out in the 5th spot. If we don't trade Arroyo he should definately be put in the bullpen as a middle/long relief guy and provides excellent insurance in case a starter goes down. I don't know what to do if Wells doesn't retire, if that case I wouldn't mind having a 6 man rotation. That way pitchers would go in and be able to last up to maybe 120 pitches. As for the bullpen it wasnt so bad as it was everyone got injured. If we were to sgin anyone I'd love to pick up Spooneybarger who is a FA. He's young, probably cheap and I believe hes a lefty. He did great a year ago in Atl. Schilling- Must re-gain 2004 form and provide staff anchor Wakefield- Was much better than stats showed, keeps on goin' despite age Burnett- Maybe with proper training can finally reach full potential, control a factor Clement- Great 1st half, needs to put a full season together and lower ERA Papelbon- Clemens and Schill wrapped into 1. Should become our next ace. DiNardo/Delcarmen Arroyo Spooneybarger Myers Hansen Timlin Foulke
  17. Then again I really didn't like Chris Berman with his imitation of a Boson accent and and the guy beside Piazza who called the game over in like the 5th inning. Personally I wish they would just show the games locally.
  18. I would enjoy this game much better if it was on ESPN. Or rather if Fox tuned up on its camera-work and got rid of Tim f***ing McCarver.
  19. Honestl i wish the guy would jump in front of a bus.
  20. This year we were very much equivalent to the Angels of 2004. We had a bunch of #3 starters goin for us, our ace, Schilling had a terrible year, much like Colon did in '04. If we are gunna learn anything from these past two years, its that pitching is way more important then hitting. The White Sox had an offense based on Pods, Konerko, and Rowand. They have a great catcher in Pierzynski, as we do Varitek. There's no question we have a better offense then them but we got silenced by Buerhle, Contreras, and Garcia. Only problem is there are no big pitchers available in the FA market, and i doubt we can acquire any big time pitchers via trade. I'd love to see Papy in the rotation next year, he's basically Roger and Schill combined. I don't think we'll have a huge problem in the bullpen, one more solid arm should do it, then maybe Hansen and Foulke will contribute next year.
  21. I'm not sayin that manny isn't great, that he isn't one of the if not the best RH hitter in baseball but for this specific season Ortiz has to get the props. he's faced great relievers like B.J. Ryan an dothers and has punished their great pitches for HRs.
  22. Yeah, if anything I'm not ashamed to go out against the best team in the AL. Just the sweep part bothered me. Also I really wanted Berman and the otehr guy to f*** themselves if the Sox tied it back up. "I think the fat lady's singin Chicago is my kinda town" f***in *******. But anywho, congrats to the White Sox, hopefully Papi will win the MVP award, we got a bright future in Papy, Ramirez, and Lester.
  23. Yea, i said earlier it might not be a good thing
