  1. How about a little insurance?
  2. Paper thin margin there.
  3. 1* R in 6.2, good job Matty. *Baserunners pending
  4. No doubt 700. I feel like it's early Christmas or something. Clement has the ability to do this in about 75% of his starts (he's been fortunate, that won't always be the case), but he's got to get his head in order to be that guy. Until he becomes that guy, I'll have a sphincter-tightness factor of 95% each inning he's out there.
  5. That's my point. Clement's little HBP act probably pissed off the ump a bit.
  6. Yeah it was. He was 0-2, worked it to 2-2 after the wild-pitch, and he K'd looking on the next pitch.
  7. The pitcher threw a 56-footer that was way inside and Clement had to jump back from. He acted like it hit his knee (or it could be that he extended it a little further than he wanted?). Anyway, the next pitch looked very borderline outside, but I'll bet the ump gave the pitcher the benefit of the doubt after what he could have perceived as an attempt to dupe him by Clement.
  8. Think that little act made the strikezone a bit bigger there, Matty?
  9. No respect for your stick Matty, drive one.
  10. Anyone watching the Philly feed on mlb.tv? Their gun has Clement sitting at 95-97 with his FB. Wonder what Beckett hits tomorrow?
  11. Clement's skirt is showing again.
  12. Nice eyes on that ball.
  13. Looks like the Riv was dead wrong about the Eunuch. Yanks put up a 4-spot on replacement-level Jeremi Gonzalez, but RJ has given 3 back with a runner on 1st without getting an out. Walk, single, dinger, single....
  14. Double double. The HR stroke is starting to show. Who's the better pickup in that trade with FL, Beckett or Lowell?
  15. As I watched the last half of the first, I just knew he'd f***ing pitch like a skirt after Abreu hit the ball hard. I knew it. He's lucky that wasn't a crooked number inning.

Jake Peavy is the best pitcher in that division bar none. Tough call on the division. Colorado might have the best production from the corners (LF - Holliday, RF - Hawpe, 1B - Helton, 3B - Atkins) in the division and they finally got some pitchers that can keep the ball on the ground (I can't figure out why their system hasn't been stocked with sinkerballers for years now). I wouldn't be that surprised if the Rox can win the division.
  17. We need a little psychadelic....... http://images.misupply.com/products/original/Mojo%20Strings/250447.jpg
  18. I think some trades should be considered homegrown talent. It took development from within the system to get players good enough to trade away, thus the system produced the player traded for. The only time I don't think it really counts is obvious salary dump situations like the Schilling and RJ trades. Those are essentially FA signings, IMO.
  19. Sox +25 Yanks +50 If you go to mlb.com and click on the Standings link on the top toolbar, then you can get them from the standings page. You will see the following categories: W, L, PCT, GB, L-10, STREAK, HOME, ROAD, LAST GAME, NEXT GAME. There is a series of bullets with the ones displayed shaded in gray, and others that are availalbe not shaded in. Click on RS and RA to see the runs scored and runs against. Other options include: Elimination #, vs. East, vs. Central, vs. West, Interleague, vs. RHP, vs. LHP, Extra Innings Record, 1-Run Game Record, Expected W/L (Pythagorean Record).
  20. Detroit has money and is willing to spend it. I can see the better of them getting an extension into to his early-to-mid 30's before he hits the market. Of course, the Yankees will get whoever it is right as he is exiting his prime. Some things never change.
  21. Absolutely, but the Tigs wouldn't.
  22. Two games in the bigs. Several in the minors. I agree that the defense will be lacking in that scenario, and I'm not all out in favor of doing it, but it's a viable option.
  23. He's done it before, and he doesn't butcher the position. There have been far worse ideas proposed on this board.
