Two things have played a big role in the Yankees finishing in 1st to the Sox 2nd in the AL East the last 8 years. One, the Yankees had a shut-down closer. Two, the Yankees had better relative health than the Sox did. Through the first quarter of this season, it appears the shoe is on the other foot. Circle of life, or whatever, but it all evens out eventually.
Pressure, pushing down on me
Pressing down on you, no man asks for
Under Pressure
That burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets
Wang's feelin' it.
The call has been made. Both pitched yesterday against Philly.....
Lenny: 2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 0 HR
Abe: 3 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 HR
Six of this, half dozen of the other.....
I really don't like to look at W/L when judging pitchers. There are so many things that contribute to a pitcher's record that the pitcher has nothing to do with. Run support, defense behind him, bullpen support. Palmer was on a very good O's team that was above average in all of those categories. Don't get me wrong, he's a great pitcher and it's a valid argument to try and include him on that list.
Animal Mother got rained out the last time they came to Fenway.
Animal Mother hates the rain.
Animal Mother blames the Yankees for the rain.
The Yankees are weak, and Animal Mother smells blood in the water.
Animal Mother likes blood.

ANIMAL MOTHER MOJO!!
Meet the Mets,
Greet the Mets.....
I love how everyone became so concerned about the umps strikezone down the stretch when he ump was pretty clearly giving the black to Small and Glavine all game long. You know what folks, that's baseball. Bring on the cadaver to Fenway.
There are still parts of the Himilayan Tundra that just got their first #13 jersey's and TV's, don't demean their shock at seeing him do it for the first time.
I think you may be jaded by YES coverage. I only watch the Sox on mlb.tv, half of which are the other teams broadcast. And, if the Sox are on TV, I watch any TV coverage over the computer becasue I hate the delay. The Sunday Night crew is pretty fair across the board. It's possible that you are so used to hearing the hometown crew, that when you don't hear it, it sounds foreign.
Wait 5 or so years, a Yankee from the 96-00 run will be in a booth. What do you expect Morgan to say, they were better than us? Would you?
I watch just about every Sunday Night broadcast, and I think he's pretty fair. In a big spot, he shows enthusiasm not matter what happens, either the big hit or the big out (.....just like he did for Duaner Sanchez' attempted catch of the bunt). I wish Fox could get this guy for the Series.
Do you get mildly excited when a Sox player hits into a DP with the sacks full and 1-out?
EDIT: I mean, don't get me wrong, I know he's no Yankee fan. But, watch Sunday night baseball for about 2 months straight. Miller gets excited for either side in a big spot, be it they scored the run, or made the out. He's, IMO, the best in the business right now, and I wish Fox could get ahold of him to do the Series.
EDIT #2: My second choice for the PBP is another ESPN guy, Gary Thorne. I thinks he calls a very good, very even game.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but Miller is an old Orioles guy. Sorry, but when you consider the fact that about 1/4 of the country's geography makes up the majority of the nation's media, and only about 1/8 of that geography is Yankee fans, and the Yankees are the most successful franchise in professional sports, then there is going to be a lot of excitement on the airwaves when they fail in big spots.
Not entirely true. An underrated play from yesterday's game in my mind is the ball that Cano hit under his glove in the 9th yesterday. I know that Giambi obstructed his view, but a "nasty" SS stops that ball, prevents a run from scoring, and gets an out somewhere. I think that play deserves as much attention as Wagner's meltdown.
I have to admit, as much as part of me would love to see the Mets make this a laugher, the other part is glad this game is close. The later it gets with a 2-run, or less, difference, the greater the chances of the Yankees using he good part of the BP, which is already gassed. Don't get me wrong, I want the Yanks to lose, but if they could do it in a close game while using key BP members.........well, let's just say that the Sox loss wouldn't hurt so much going into tomorrow.
