  1. Pena has looked like a completely different player the last couple of weeks.
  2. Mark Loretta, dare I say, en fuego.
  3. I have to admit, I didn't do much for that one. I picked that up from an O's game thread over at SoSH.
  4. They can waive the FA trading deadline, and both would probably do it given their playing time at this point.
  5. Not likely. There's a word for that magic act he was pulling prior to last night, it's called luck. Last night was the other shoe dropping. Put that many men on base and you'll be about a 5.00+ ERA pitcher, which is what Chacon will most likely be in the AL East. Also, Clement pitched 6 scoreless before giving up 4 in the 7th with an 11-0 lead. That took away a quality start, but he doesn't get left in the game to finish that kind of inning in a close game. Kind of a technicality taking a QS from him on that one if you ask me.
  6. I think the answer to this revealed in the answer to another question. What do the Sox expect out of him? If he's just here to be a RH platoon-mate/4th-OF, then it makes no sense to send him down*. If he's here being groomed as part of the future, consistent playing time to continue his development is essential. *This is a moot point since he can't be sent down.
  7. He hasn't been in the bigs since he was 17, but he's been under a MLB contract since then. When he was signed, not drafted, out of the D.R., he was an uber-hyped bonus baby, and for good reason with his tremendous power. However, the MLB contract the Yanks signed him to made sure that he ran out of MiLB options by the time he was 21, meaning he would have go on the waiver wire for Cincy to send him down, something that never would have worked. Thus, you have underdeveloped potential on a steep learning curve in the bigs. I agree with Crunch; the best thing for him would be consistent playing time right now. In fact, his dramatic improvement has come at the end of a stretch where he's been playing everyday. The progress will slow when he starts seeing some pine time, but they can't do anything about that due to his situation (other than trading/benching Trot).
  8. Aloha.
  9. Duckhunt? Bah, ORIOLEHUNT! http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3966/duckhunt1ev.jpg
  10. And the Wake said there will be batters aplenty. Batters wearing garments of white, black, and orange and wielding mighty wooden clubs. The Wake said be not afraid of the batters, for I shall smote them with fluttering white orbs cast from my knuckles. And smote them he did. And it was good. Can I get an amen? And this shall rule the day..... http://users.sdccu.net/hoggy/images/kb.jpg
  11. Beckett, Schilling, and Wake....then pray for a 'quake?
  12. Best years with the Sox..... Tiant: 1974, 311.1 IP, 132 ERA+ 1976, 279.0 IP, 128 ERA+ 1973, 272.0 IP, 120 ERA+ 1972, 179.0 IP, 169 ERA+ 1978, 212.1 IP, 125 ERA+ Grove: 1935, 273.0 IP, 178 ERA+ 1936, 253.1 IP, 190 ERA+ 1937, 262.0 IP, 158 ERA+ 1939, 191.0 IP, 185 ERA+ 1938, 163.2 IP, 160 ERA+ Tiant gave more innings, but Grove's quality was better. Plus, Tiant threw a couple of average years in there (100 and 102 ERA+) during his 1972-1978 run, while Grove was excellent for 5 straight years. It's a close call, but I think Grove wins.
  13. Fixed. Thanks.
  14. You can't have Tiant in there instead of Lefty Grove. Cy Wood Grove Rajah Petey Chronological order.
  15. Yeah.... [Rivernator]Thank the Rangers for kicking the ball around the field a couple of times to keep it close. They gave you this one....[/Rivernator]
  16. Great play by Gonzo. He can really throw the leather around (wish he could do the same with the lumber).
  17. Another 3 hit night for Loretta.
  18. He probably picked it up from me quoting you.
  19. He must have looked at his driver's license and realized that he is Scott Proctor.
  20. Tek's sucking ass tonight. 0-4, 3 K, GIDP....
  21. I gotta admit, I'm shocked that lineup came back that far from 10-1.
  22. Papi, give Curt a boost and put one on Eutaw St.
  23. Hey, I could give a 4 paragraph dissertation full of excuses for him, but you would know it's full of s*** considering you just wrote one for RJ. Curt doesn't have it. Randy doesn't have it. Anything else is a load of crap.
