  2. youkilis, we will miss ya. to make way for curt and new guy chad, sox have sent youkilis and pitcher scott cassidy back to pawtucket. id rather have the sox send embree instead of youk though. :dunno:
  3. all i have to say is, Hes baaaack: Red Sox ace activated off DL Curt Schilling was activated Wednesday after spending 2 1/2 months on the disabled list, and will be in the bullpen when the Boston Red Sox begin the second half of the season Thursday night against the New York Yankees. Schilling is expected to work in relief until he's ready to pitch long enough to reclaim his spot in the rotation after going on the disabled list April 29 with a bone bruise in his right ankle. "I'm excited, I'm nervous,'' Schilling said backstage Wednesday night at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles. "We come out of the gate with the New York Yankees and it's going to get hot fast. It's a World Series atmosphere in July. I feel good, I'm as ready as I can be.'' The Red Sox on Thursday were also expected to activate reliever Chad Bradford, acquired Wednesday from Oakland for outfielder Jay Payton after Bradford spent the entire season on the disabled list. To make room on the roster, they optioned third baseman Kevin Youkilis to Triple-A Pawtucket and outrighted pitcher Scott Cassidy to Pawtucket. Schilling made five rehabilitation appearances with Pawtucket, the last three as a reliever after he struggled in his second outing as a starter. Boston needs help in its bullpen where Keith Foulke, Alan Embree, Matt Mantei and John Halama all have ERAs over 6.00. Foulke and Mantei are on the disabled list. Schilling pitched on consecutive nights last Saturday and Sunday for Pawtucket at Syracuse. He worked one scoreless inning in each game -- throwing seven pitches in a perfect inning then 16 when he faced four batters, allowing one hit. "I want to be in the big leagues pitching, and I'm anxious to get back,'' Schilling said after Sunday's appearance. "I felt good today. I felt stronger than I did yesterday, which is good.'' He had surgery during the offseason to repair a tendon in his right ankle and started this season on the disabled list. He went 1-2 with an 8.15 ERA before bruising that ankle on April 23 and going on the disabled list April 29, retroactive to April 24. In his relief appearances with Pawtucket, he had a 3.00 ERA with four strikeouts and no walks in three innings. In his two starts for Pawtucket, he was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. Youkilis hit .286 with one homer and nine RBI in 31 games. Cassidy, called up from Pawtucket last week, gave up three runs on four hits in one relief outing. tell me now what would your boys be able to do in game 3? first 7 innings: Matt Clement 8th inning: Curt Schilling 9th inning: Mike Timlin/Chad Bradford "In case I dont see you again. Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Goodnight."

  5. oh god wade can only get worse in the second half than he is now?
  6. arod2212, post above mine from a fellow yankee fan of yours, shows what you said has no merit.
  7. yeah ok arod like you yank fans dont make fun of same thing concerning at the red sox fans (1) up until last year yanks always reminded us it hadnt been since 1918 sox won their last series (2) 1978 season in which sox were 13.5 games ahead of yanks but werent able to hold that big lead, (3) 2003 ALCS in game 7 boone getting the walkoff homerun against wakefield (4) chanting loudly in the playoffs at pedro, "whos your daddy" (5) the fact that yankees have won 26 world titles while sox are just at 6, etc. the point is that i can go on and on with what yanks fans have pushed in sox fans' faces throughout the decades of this rivalry...
  8. varitek and ortiz are reason enough not to mess with the sox
  9. yeah if they want to take arods back in case something happens, thats cool, a chunk of the ny roster of good players will then be serving suspensions and fines
  10. um dude, you do realize youre on a red sox forum website full of die-hard red sox fans?? god dont act so surprised we are downplaying yankees in general
  11. bostonfan34, from what i can tell is of course lying to be a member of the portland sea dogs. besides the fact he talks like a punk kid, his friend "schillingalltheway", had called him dylan on a post earlier. and just so happens on the roster for the main website of the sea dogs, there is not one player with that name.
  12. there are several yankees that im completely cool with that are matsui, robinson cano (his #'s are good for his rookie season), and tino martinez
  13. ill be at friday nights game, even tho there will be of course boos for the likes of a-rod and jeter. bet ya anything fenway will erupt in boos for sheffield, since his comments during playoffs in october, the fan altercation in april, and recent comments hes made, be red sox fans' enemy #1
  14. did you even notice i had pointed that out, that its not the same team from last season. i am glad clement will be pitching vs johnson in game 3, they still got the weapons to bring it to the yankees, a 'la 17-1 defeat in yankee stadium.
  15. he certainly showed us speed in his first game, beating out the double play and then stealing a base right after that
  16. he just friggin started in the major league with his first ever game being called over to baltimore last week, you do know that right?? he wasnt able to show off what he has for batting since he got the call just hours before the game had started and not much time to meet with his new teammates and get ready before the game. he is one of the hot prospects sox have had for a bit
  17. actually second game randy johnson pitched against the sox, our boys had won 8-5. that was the game with the sheffield incident, was at that game, best game i have ever been to at fenway.
  18. ok youre talking about everybody confident about the sox, while youre doing the exact opposite posting as if the sox will lose every game upcoming they have. I know this has been said a lot, but i think need a lil refreshing: sox were down 3 games in the 7 game playoff series. game 3 was a domination said and done by the yanks of 19 - 8. The next 4 games, everybody had on their mind the sox would falter cuz its something that never has been done before. and they did it in 4 straight games, couple lasting 5, 6 hours. i know its not the same team last year, but they have the weapons to do it and plus they get to be home for this. im not on a high horse, i see sox at least splitting the series
  19. Chad Bradford and possibly Schilling brings relief for the bullpen come thursday Bradford should be in Sox 'pen for Yankee series The Globe's Gordon Edes reported Wednesday that "Bradford should become a member of the Red Sox in time to pitch in the series against the Yankees, which begins (Thursday) in Boston. Bradford, the submarining reliever who has been on rehab assignment after undergoing back surgery in March, likely will fill the seventh inning role previously occupied by Matt Mantei before he was lost for the season with an ankle injury. The Sox gave up disgruntled outfielder Jay Payton for Bradford, with the deal expected to be finalized no later than (Thursday)." The 6-foot-5 Bradford appeared in 68, 72, and 75 games for the A's in the last three seasons. Bradford's best season came in 2003, when he went 7-4 in 72 games with a 3.04 ERA. Last year, he was 5-6 with a 4.42 ERA in 68 games. The Providence Journal's Sean McAdam writes that Bradford's "sinking fastball generates lots of ground balls, and the Sox believe he can help them in the sixth and seventh innings."
  20. with youkilis, probably the low # of AB's i think might account to bill mueller's resurgence as an everyday player for the web gems defense and clutch hitting RBIs he has done so far this season. hoping to see youk still in a red sox uniform next spring
  21. ok then, which prospect are you in the red sox farm market?
  22. ah wow yea that is the last row of center field bleacher seats, basically youre backs will be against where the dunkin donuts billboard is. i had those seats for the boston loss to torontos halladay
  23. ok why does everybody keep referring to me as one of the posters who so confident that im shouting out from the mountaintops the sox will win it all this year !!? which im not in the least, my posts on here have said im just looking it at one game at a time, i will think about september when september comes. phrase from Napolean Dynamite; "God!"
  24. ah man, its not coming through. any chance you can copy & paste the article on here
