  1. it will be a matchup of good pitchers, im pretty sure it will be Clement vs. Mussina
  2. well actually sizzlin, johhny who is 9 for 10 stolen bases attempts, edgar is just behind at 8 for 9 stolen base attempts--i very much agree stern could be our next damon
  3. maybe so, but gabe kapler might have to do the same thing that edgar/wells had done this season, considering John Olerud has been given gabe's old #19
  4. Yeah, Bellhorn might be pretty good dude take another look at my post cuz i was being 100% sarcastic acting like what he does offensively is good, i for one dont think bellhorn is good. just for his defense at times, and thats about it. cuz that mathematical equation ******** was saying bellhorn striking out was a good thing for the sox, which it isnt. Strikeouts alone this season, hes cost the sox 102 outs in the first 86 games
  5. huge chance of failure, says the yanks...
  6. i might as well, now anyway, just one more game until the all star break--and then the series that will either make or break red sox' stance in the #1 spot. the sox/yanks games never fail to entertain. i will agree on one thing, wont be on here during the 4 game series. moreso cuz ill be too glued to the tv, and it will be a circus of rivalry here without a doubt.
  7. like you yank fans would laugh at ortiz and manny, etc. doin the same thing
  8. ah how sweet it is, who to end ny's chances of winning the game, but a-rod grounding out
  9. i was hearing on fox actually that 46.2% of the at bats bellhorn has had, he has either struck out or walked--besides that the "mathematical equation" that was shown to us proves nothing. it says by him striking out under 200 times last season, sox gained runs by him doin that. oh ok, so i guess we need to cheer him on or something to take whiffs in.
  10. i think this could end up build up clements confidence goin into game 1 of sox/yanks series--being given the nod to play a game featuring the best of baseball
  11. clement has already been given the nod to go to detroit since halladay is down with a leg injury for a month
  12. payton shouldve just kept his mouth shut and played through the season. i mean for a backup player he was doing good with an alright average, speed, and had 5 homeruns in the first half.. he knew thro and thru what he was signing into for the red sox
  13. schilling has two more starts as reliever, tomorrow night and then sunday afternoon--which will of course have theo & co. if this could actually work
  14. ill get goosebumps if stern then grows out his hair and a beard, haha
  15. ok philly how about we give ya--embree, mantei, foulke, and millar for wagner , ill even throw in some cans of clam chowdaah haha
  16. just saw this article from boston.com about how the red sox clubhouse is dismantling from our boys acting well like "minor leaguers" Fight club By Eric Wilbur, Boston.com Staff | July 8, 2005 Dissention in the ranks, inner turmoil, players demanding trades, idiotic statements, and player wives getting into catfights. Good grief, all of a sudden the Red Sox have gone 2001 on us. Cue Mike Gordon. The '01 Sox will be forever remembered for the way they disgraced the franchise and this city with their selfish antics in the face of national disaster. While 9/11 brought most of our country together, the Red Sox were torn apart by greed, selfishness and Carl Everett. Four years later, with another world tragedy as the backdrop, we're starting to hear some of the bickering and sniping that defined those jokers. By all accounts, skipper Terry Francona is handling the issues that have suddenly blown up much better than Joe Kerrigan, who one can easily imagine crouched in a corner sucking his thumb when the manager's office door was closed. Two weeks ago, Johnny Damon decreed how he would play pied piper, possibly signing with another team in the offseason, and then sending for his minions to join him afterward. Now he's got a problem with Curt Schilling going to the bullpen, feeling that Mike Timlin and Bronson Arroyo have been overlooked. John Halama too, Johnny. Don't forget John Halama. Or Garp, whom you've apparently hijacked and left for dead on the road somewhere between here and Exeter, NH. The Hartford Courant's David Heuschkel writes that David Ortiz and Bronson Arroyo seem to agree with Damon's assessment. Francona told Damon to shut his trap, lest the manager of the team get upset. Right now, Schilling appears to be merely perturbed. According to ESPN's Peter Gammons, Kevin Millar requested to be traded, then after realizing that the Red Sox were the only team willing to take his grown-thin act, not to mention the worthless wood on his shoulder, denied that statement. (When asked about Millar's request this morning on WEEI, general manager Theo Epstein had no comment.) Jay Payton, angry with his role and that nobody was paying attention to him with free agency looming, whined his way into being traded to Oakland (though the deal isn't finalized yet), where nobody is likely to pay any attention to him or the rest of the A's. Not to mention that you've got Timlin and Matt Clement throwing their hands up in the air, wondering what in the name of Joe Torre they had to do to be named All-Stars, prompting rumblings that some members of the clubhouse are peeved at Francona's failure not to bring them all to Detroit, a la Torre in his days as the AL manager. (Once again, they're all forgetting John Halama too, folks. No respect.) Not that Shea Hillenbrand isn't one of baseball's best and brightest or Kenny Rogers an astute ambassador of the game, but c'mon. Where's Tom Jackson when you need him? And speaking of Rogers, baseball's best version of Sean Penn, Red Sox pitcher David Wells, came out last night and said that he supported the Rangers pitcher's decision to toss a cameraman to the ground in Arlington, a la Rowdy Roddy Piper. Supported. What is going on here? ''The cameraman wasn't hurt," Doc Wells said. "He went to the hospital, pretending to be hurt. He's winking at another guy, saying, 'I'm going to get paid.' That guy's a [expletive] idiot." Which, come to think of it, is exactly what some Sox fans have said about Wells. Not that what happens in the clubhouse, stays in the clubhouse. The Inside Track today speculates as to where the turmoil between Schilling and Damon might stem from: a fight over scarves between Michelle Damon and Shonda Schilling last October. We kid you not. And you thought it might not get stranger. According to the Inside Track: "Michelle was the only Sox S.O. who refused to wear one. And after the Sox fell to the Yankees in epic fashion in Game 3, Michelle, who was then Damon's fianc?e, griped, 'A lot of good those (bleeping) scarves have done.'' Well, that was the final straw for Shonda, who replied 'Well, if you were wearing one maybe your fianc? wouldn't be 0-for-16.''' Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Belichick-Bledsoe start much the same way? The general consensus was that if you wrote last October's events as a movie, it would be too unbelievable for production. A year later, you might be able to get away with creating a soap opera around the Olde Towne Team. The Young and Idiotic. Meanwhile, the Sox have lost six of 10, and have the Orioles, Yankees, and Blue jays breathing down their necks in the AL East. Damon blames the Red Sox front office for panicking, but when you've got Millar screaming that the Sox are going back to the World Series -- on their very first day in first place this season -- maybe fear of complacency is more of an issue. In the shadow of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the final year of the Yawkey administration ended perhaps the way it should have: in disarray. Today, as the world deals with the latest bout with terror, we find the Princes of New England taking potshots at each other, their manager, the front office, and Texas cameramen. Never mind all that, they say. Look where we are. "We're in first place!" Heuschkel quotes Ortiz as saying yesterday. "What the [expletive] is going on in this clubhouse? Damn!" Damn, indeed.
  17. i went to redsox.com and it said today Johnny Damon's shoulder is still bothering him a little and he might have to sit out todays game as well--giving Adam Stern a second straight start
  18. hey all im looking at it, taking one game at a time--if i look at things long term, ill be cocky and ignorant as YANKEESRULE. yankees still do need to fill some holes. and dude our bullpen is changing just about each day, and sox have already done with foulke and mantei both out for what im thinking is rest of the season, and that will help since reinforcements are coming in. Now with Giambi, he "all of a sudden is starting to hit like he use to" i got ten bucks that says he found out he sucks without the roids, and asked sheffield to spot him some
  19. hey i never ripped dude on edgar's offense. quickly became a fan of his, he is a clutch hitter. all im saying i think he will only be playing spots in the infield at times. yes i know renterria said he would change positions, but the most likely as jerry remy had pointed out would be 2nd base---you got perplexed when i said no offense, as i would say to theo I dont like embree, no offense
  20. ok, did you see in my post that id like to see him traded???!!! fan for being the clubhouse presence he used to have anyway with his teammates, gettin everyone into a good mood. thats something each clubhouse shoudl have
  21. not sure if you realize, tokyo baseball is a lot different than the way american baseball is played
  22. um thats in tokyo, where a lot of american players go there and they suck--besides id say bellhorns is awful right now as well
  23. im a big fan of kevin millar's. however i am too gettin annoyed he has to hop on the radio when rumors are being tossed around, his playing time, etc. basically trying to act like hes the team's voice... i heard trade rumors of him to the astros, wouldnt mind them getting in return chad qualls a relief pitcher, in 40 games has a nice ERA of 3.95, and with 9 walks/32 strikeouts--i mentioned him moreso cuz he is in last year of his contract
  24. um edgar in the outfield??? that wouldnt be a smart idea at all, no offense, edagr is an infield type of guy really. besides with gabe kapler coming back possibly, i see adam stern being sent back to pawtucket. and if uanble to get damon back. it be kapler and stern next spring goin for the center field spot, with the latter getting the backup spot. trust you anything dude, edgar in center field is on nobodys minds for next spring. i like asam sterns speed very much so, his stolen base in his first career game was top notch. pitcher even had him in the corner of his eye and he took off, johnny damon speed, even before that he was able to beat out the double play. i got high hopes for this one
  25. ok guys cmon give schill a break, it was just his first try at it
