johnny damon wasnt voted cuz of his good lucks or popularity really, well not why i had voted him for haha. He ranks as one of the elite leadoff batters, posting a high .345 batting average. and going into game 1 against the yankees johnny will be riding on a 25 game hittings treak, which is the ebst hes had in his career as well as its the longest in the majors this season for any player. despite not having a high homerun count, at 4 halfway, just about every commentator talking about him have called this his career best season by far. I like kevin millar just as the next fan, its just he hasnt contributed much offensively since last month.

actually hanley is known to play center field in the minors
-
it wasnt spelling dude, correcting grammer, it gets on my nerves when people use aint instead of isnt. "aint" is for rednecks to use
-
why keep shoppach?? mirabelli and varitek are both gonna stay long term with the sox ya know. hanley is more likely to stay to someday fill in the void for edgar or johnny

theo would be assinine to give him up, this is in the trade buzz section of boston.com Lester's been lights out Sox prospect Jon Lester threw a complete game one-hit shutout Monday night in the Portland Sea Dogs' (Double A) victory. Lester, a left-handed pitcher, struck out 14 in the dominating performance, and has struck out 25 batters in his last 14 innings. Epstein has said that he will not trade Lester in a deadline deal, but the pitcher remains one of the team’s most attractive assets and could fetch a proven major leaguer in a deal.
-
by the way dude, "ain't" is not a word, i think its "isn't" you are trying to say
-
he has had 2 great back to back starts in the bullpen in pawtucket. first game just throwing 7 pitches to get the final 3 outs, and then 16 pitches to get 3 outs in the eighth inning of a pawtucket win 4-0... both last 2 games he didnt allow any runs. and it wasnt just tito's decision god; a meeting was held with theo, tito, schilling and dave wallace and that is what they came up with

yea my jaw dropped when he put his hands to sides of his head like an anvil was coming down or something, ya know boys ragged on him for that in the clubhouse -
i agree with soxie very much so. ok well im just saying if you people keep talkin like this, im gonna have to see a lot of posts from yankee fans on here praising you guys for saying the red sox is going to falter and its better off next year. tell me how many people thought the season was over when sox lost first 2 to cardinals and first 2 to cubs. just about everybody had thought so and look at what happened, sox won 12 out of 13 to reclaim the division lead. and bill mueller with his defensive players, batting 9 for 14 with bases load (leads the majors in that!!) he is below average!!?? and about Foulke whos contributed nothing, im glad he will be out for 6 weeks or more, so we really didnt lose anything Clement has not been our ace?, im sorry but that is pure ******** right there. in 13 of the 18 games hes pitched hes allowed 3 runs or fewer, allowed only 8 homeruns halfway. He leads the rotation in ERA of 3.85 and leads also with 97 strikeouts thus far, 10-2 record. This guy is all star material and did in fact become our ace when schilling had left for the DL

theres currently a rumored trade deal that would be a 3 team deal of sox-mets-astros, more importantly that mets scouts were seen at yesterdays sox game looking at kevin millar play. article stated sox are looking at the astros reliever chad qualls who having a nice season, ERA of 3.89
-
i read a report that the yomiuri giants have placed on waivers and that the sox will of course get him back right away. however theyre plan might have him to be on the minors roster for rest of the season. considering if they send adam stern back to pawtucket, very big chance atlanta can easily sign him to be a brave.
-
im a big fan of kevin millar's. however i am too gettin annoyed he has to hop on the radio when rumors are being tossed around, his playing time, etc. basically trying to act like hes the team's voice... i heard trade rumors of him to the astros, wouldnt mind them getting in return chad qualls a relief pitcher, in 40 games has a nice ERA of 3.95, and with 9 walks/32 strikeouts--i mentioned him moreso cuz he is in last year of his contract ok i had posted that last week, i got goosebumps now cuz i just saw this in an article in a trading block buzz section: Do Mets have their eye on Millar? According to the Providence Journal, the Mets had two scouts at the Red Sox-Orioles series this weekend, heightening speculation that they are looking at Millar. Newsday reported on Sunday that the Red Sox may have a deal in place that would send Millar to the Astros in exchange for reliever Chad Qualls, who has a 3.89 ERA in 41 games this season. ... According to the Globe's Gordon Edes, "Kevin Millar denied an ESPN report that he had asked the Sox for a trade. Millar said that while he would not be surprised at a trade - 'you hear that kind of talk every year at this time'-- he said he had not asked to be dealt. 'Play baseball, ready to go, it's time to roll,' Millar said. 'We're [three] games up. We're not talking about me right now. I didn't say [expletive]. I ain't going to say [expletive], so you guys are searching for something I'm not going to say right now. I'm just enjoying baseball. I'm happy.' On Wednesday's Baseball Tonight show and on Boston radio station WEEI 850 AM on Thursday, ESPN's Peter Gammons said Millar asked to be dealt. An excerpt from Thursday's Gammons interview: "Obviously Millar has a lot to do with this because he's so outraged that John Olerud is here, he's in the manager's office, now he's asked to be traded and all that. Now, c'mon… drama. Grow up and move on. He (Millar) was upset and asked Terry Francona to have him traded. They looked, and it's not happening. Houston I guess is interested a little bit, but they wouldn't give anything and now they don't want him because Berkman's going to play first base. It's not gonna happen."

would everybody stop with this 1978 s*** and acting as if the season is over, f*** man theres still like 75 games left--taking one game at a time is a more healthy approach

now that makes 2 great back to back starts out of the bullpen for schilling  Schilling anxious to return to Sox Pawtucket Red Sox manager Ron Johnson has never claimed to be proficient at reading minds. But apparently he can read faces. Johnson was at his "face-reading" best Sunday when rehabbing Curt Schilling walked off the mound following a scoreless eighth inning during Pawtucket's 4-0 victory over the Syracuse SkyChiefs. "He was really confident [saturday night] and today you could tell when he came in the dugout he was like, 'Hey, you need another one?' You could just see it in his face. If I had said, 'Yes,' he would have walked back out there. But I've grown accustomed to eating and I'm going to make my living by doing exactly what I'm told by the people I work for." While Johnson joked about what might have happened if he had not followed orders, there was no joking about Schilling's performance -- his second relief outing in less than 24 hours. And there certainly was no joking about why Johnson brought him in for the eighth as opposed to the ninth, when he had pitched in his two previous relief outings. "The only reason he pitched the eighth and not the ninth was because we didn't want to take any possible chance that we wouldn't have a lead in the ninth inning on the road, and he came here to pitch," Johnson said. "When the game remained 2-0 (that was the score entering the top of the eighth, when Justin Sherrod belted a two-run homer) we wanted him to go an inning. If you send somebody else out there and all of a sudden you get a walk and a home run, or a walk, an error, a home run, now we're behind. "You can't take a chance with that type of situation. We talked with Curt before and he was up for that." Schilling this time got up to 93 mph on the Alliance Bank Stadium radar gun. He hit that number twice against lefty-swinging Kevin Barker (.350, 12 homers, 46 RBIs) when he painted the outside corner for fastballs, the second for a called third strike. Prior to Barker's at-bat, Schilling was tagged for a single to right by leadoff batter Anton French (on a split) and then retired Bryant Nelson on a pop out to third (on another split). He recorded the final out on a fly ball to left by John-Ford Griffin (on yet another split). Schilling threw 11 of his 16 pitches for strikes, a mix that included exclusively fastballs and splitters. But he spent more time on the mound than he did discussing his performance. "I want to be in the big leagues pitching. I'm anxious to get back," Schilling said before boarding a private van for a ride to Hancock International Airport and a flight to Boston. "I felt good today. I felt stronger than I was [saturday], which is good. "I'm ready to go back there Thursday. I hope so ... that's the hope. Maybe we'll be winning [against the Yankees at Fenway Park] by a large enough score so I don't have to pitch. [Physically], I felt fine. There was no problem." PawSox catcher Kelly Shoppach felt Schilling may have seen the last of the International League. "He seemed to be in good enough shape," Shoppach said. "He came back today with no problems after [saturday], which is something he hasn't done. He said he felt fine and he looked fine. It's tough to come back [twice in 24 hours] especially for a starter, and he's been a starter forever. "He threw the ball well [saturday] and today, and he didn't go against easy hitters. These were pretty good hitters that he faced and he pretty much ran through them easy." Shoppach, like Johnson, was able to see that Schilling brought his "game face" to the park. "His face coming to the mound was a positive to me," Shoppach said. "He looked excited. Usually, with a starter's mentality, you have five days to prep for it. All the jitters are gone. Obviously, he knew he was going to pitch today. But coming out of the bullpen, normally it's a tight game and you get a little adrenaline rush." Schilling's three relief outings with Pawtucket encompassed three innings and included three hits, two runs (one earned), no walks and four strikeouts. The next step is for Schilling to discuss with Boston what the future holds in store. "You're not talking about a Minor League pitcher who's trying to assume a different role," Johnson said. "You're talking about Curt Schilling. We know what he's done and what he can do. He will let you know what he's ready to do. I wouldn't bet against the guy. He's pitched more big games than you can think of." Ironically, given this transition, Schilling's next game with Boston could be his biggest.
