  1. oh shut the hell up. no it did mean a lot to me. but fact of matter is that youre lineup will be tattered going to face off the texas rangers, la angels twice, and twins for rest of july. notice how i said "sox and yanks" have to work their pitching rosters
  2. rather than this 4 game series to start off the second half, rest of july through august will really be the determining points of boston and yanks--moreso as both yankees and sox try to rebuild their pitching rosters
  3. The Delaware County Times reported that the Yankees are interested in Phillies pitcher Vicente Padilla and reserve outfielder Endy Chavez. The Yankees, who have four starting pitchers on the disabled list, are scrambling for starting pitching, recently acquiring pitcher Al Leiter to make a start against the Red Sox. Padillas is 5-8 with a 5.61 ERA this season. Newday reported that the Yankees could acquire pitcher Shawn Chacon and outfielder Eric Byrnes from the Rockies. The Yankees have been rumored to be interested in Chacon for weeks, but have been unwilling to trade both pitchers Sean Henn and Scott Proctor for Chacon. Byrnes, who was recently dealt to Colorado from Oakland, would provide upgraded defense and youth into the Yankees outfield. Newsday also reported that if the Rockies are to deal both Chacon and Byrnes to the Yankees, they would be looking for a better prosepct, like outfielder Melky Cabrera, to be included.
  4. Sox take a look at old friend El Guapo The Boston Herald reported that former Red Sox pitcher Rich Garces recently auditioned for Sox scouts in Fort Myers, where he is working out. Garces pitched well this winter, posting a 2.08 ERA in the Venezualan winter league. Although a Sox official gave the 34-year-old Garces a "1-in-10,000" chance of rejoining the team, Garces reportedly was throwing the ball well. Garces, who spent seven seasons in Boston and has a career ERA of 3.74, hasn't pitched in the majors since 2002. oh please theo get this guy as well The Boston Globe reported the Red Sox are interested in acquiring Brewers reliever Mike Wise. Wise, a right hander with a 2.83 ERA, has put up stellar numbers this season. Lefties are batting only .136 against him, while righties are faring only slightly better at .163. The Globe report said that the Brewers were willing to part with reliever Ricky Bottalico, but not Wise.
  5. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Bill Lajoie, special assistant to Red Sox GM Theo Epstein, was in Philadelphia this weekend for the Phillies-Marlins series. While the Sox might have serious interest in a certain Marlins pitcher (Burnett, who started Thursday), closer Billy Wagner has been floated as someone who would help stabilize a floundering Red Sox bullpen. Wagner, who has 20 saves this season and averages more than a strikeout an inning, will be a free agent after the season.
  6. wow jeez mark belllhorn will now be out for some time and could be put on the 15 day DL, which means Sox might be now in pursuit of second baseman, since alex cora couldnt really be a starter. Talks are that Dustin Pedroia could get the early callup. Though Texas Rangers are shopping around Alfonso Soriano with him being in his last season
  7. bringing a guy up from double A is very very risky I keep saying that. Hanley needs to have some experience in triple A before heading off to the majors. guys he plays with and against are all just out of high school and college. then boom it will be 10+ year veteran all-stars. Its limited chance at best. And dude I dont think anyone would bite for bellhorn, even his old team, the rockies, or the royals
  8. this season compared to last, mike lowell has been in somewhat of a slump. he is a good guy dont get me wrong. if they do get him, and he plays third base, what will happen with youkilis? or if they do transition him to 1st base, how about millar? questions in that trade 2004, .293 avg 175 Hits, 87 Runs scored, 44 Doubles, 1 triple, 27 HRs, 85 RBIs, 64 Walks, 77 Strikeous 2005, .227 avg 68 Hits, 32 Runs scored, 25 Doubles, 4 HRs, 36 RBIs, 23 Walks, 38 Strikeouts--with on base percentage only at .280
  9. I think Sox should up the ante and also offer shoppach to the Marlins. Shoppach is a good guyas there is. If he were to stay with the sox, hed be down in triple A for two or more years. Id really like to have marlins or any team rather give him a shot at the big leagues.
  10. yankees will see soon enough if their tattered starting pitching lineup can still go further on as they face off against more of the best the AL has to offer starting with a 3 game set against the texas rangers, who love to hit their homeruns as well. Back comes the injury-prone Kevin Brown with an ERA over 5 and hasnt pitched since mid-June going out from yet another back injury. 13 times so far in his career that he has gone on the DL. Facing off the yanks is Ricardo Rodriguez who is holding at a steady ERA of 3.71. It will be a pitcher that the entire yankees lineup; except for a-rod and ruben sierra; this will be their first times taking on his pitches. Sox fans it will be on ESPN tonight so something to switch back and forth too. Kevin Brown vs: Sandy Alomar Jr, 8 for 30 (.267 avg) double, 3 RBIs, 6 Ks, SB Rod Barajas, 3 for 10 (.300 avg) K Hank Blalock, 2 for 10 (.200 avg) RBI, 2 walks, 2 Ks, SB David Delluci, 8 for 20 (.400 avg) 2 doubles, HR, 6 RBIs, 2 walks, 2 Ks Mark DeRosa, 2 for 2 (1.000 avg) triple, 2 RBIs Richard Hidalgo, 2 for 6 (.333 avg) double, 2 RBIs Gary Matthews Jr, 5 for 16 (.313 avg) RBI, 2 walks, 4 Ks, 1 for 2 SBs Kevin Mench, 1 for 5 (.200 avg) double, 2 RBIs, walk Alfonso Soriano, 6 for 12 (.500 avg) 2 doubles, HR, 3 RBIs, walk, K, SB Mark Teixeria, 5 for 12 (.417 avg) 2 doubles, HR, RBI, K Michael Young, 4 for 11 (.364 avg) 2 RBIs, walk, K, SB Ricardo Rodriguez vs: Alex Rodriguez, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) RBI Ruben Sierra, 0 for 2
  11. im excited, just several weeks away from pre-season games--im hoping for another afc playoff game of pittsburgh vs. patriots
  12. i really got to handle it to wakefield, hes the backbone of the pitching staff and has been since he started for the sox. now been back to back games where hed last as long as he could to get the sox a chance to try and rally. baltimore loss he lasted 7 innings giving up 4 runs. last nights game he worked his heart out on a great complete game, allowing 5 hits and 5 runs, too bad that is in vain of the bad calls that happened in the 9th.
  13. jeez roethlisberger i bet will be a quarterback to reckon with this season, last year he played more like a veteran than a rookie and hes only bound to get better
  14. how come now 3 of our boys: foulke, mantiei, and now bellhorn after going thru bad first halfs of the season, theyre all of sudden out with possible injuries, kinda makes ya think. ok now they just gotta give embree a fake injury
  15. lmao, sorry just the way you worded that got me to fall of my chair laughing
  16. :what: :what: thats funny coming from a fan of the mighty yanks who the devil rays served their dick on a platter to them ;)Red Sox's record against Tampa this year, 4-2 record including a sweep at home. lets see yankees record against Tampa Bay, huh thats right they got a 7-4 record against you boys. which includes 3 out of 4 in tampa, and 3 out of 4 in yankee stadium. dude youre so full of s***, ya know that right? we got the better schedule, youre just lucky it was 3 out of 4, with the umpires needing glasses last night
  17. in the first very series of the season yes he did do very well since then hes been rather hitless, but altogether he has been 12 hits for 49 at bats.
  18. new yankee stadium will actually be smaller in seating capacity, cuz georgey wants aboundance of high-priced luxury boxes :what: :wetodd: hey anything to pay for their roster, as price is still currently growing this season with addition of leiter
  19. ah yes rejoice everybody lineup has been released and big thanks to Tito as he will be starting Trot again against a lefty, so no worries about millar out in right field.
  20. also haha, ist best to eat at mcdonalds or Uno's nearby, prices for food at fenway are just crazy cup of beer- $6 hot dog- $4 bottled soda/water- $4.50 cracker jacks- $4.75
  21. try to get an hour 1/2 bfore the game starts, youll get to see the teams doing batting experience. on rare occasions able to meet sox players and get autographs. i did so back in 97, and met the man himself, Mo Vaughn, he was our pre-david ortiz guy
  22. yeah very true, was just thinking so far bottom of the order would give him more chances to get better RBIs than he has done halfway this season, i do admit love when in an inning; edgar, ortiz and manny are expected to hit. Also hands down Edgar is the best bunter of the red sox, especially key situations.
  23. so far this is how i see it will look for 2006 season 1. cf Johnny Damon (hoping he resigns) 2. 1b kevin youkilis (not hard of transition from 3rd base to 1st base, plus want to see my fav player mueller stay in for one last season) 3. dh David Ortiz 4. lf Manny Ramirez 5. c Jason Varitek 6. rf Trot Nixon 7. ss Edgar Renterria 8. 3b Bill Mueller 9. 2b Dustin Pedroia reserves: c Doug Mirabelli 1b John OLerud 2b Alex Cora cf/lf/rf Gabe Kapler
  24. dude hanley is a top notch prospect, no doubt at all, but its always a big risk to send a AA player straight to the majors, skipping triple A altogether. Dustin Pedroia is likely to get the go-ahead call shortly. cla meredih who was tearing it up on the mound in double A, so the sox called him up to the majors to relief pitch against Seattle, he got roughed up in one inning giving up a grand slam, and was sent back to double A right after. fact of matter, they need time to produce and work out what they need to. because playing against 10-year veteran All Star players is a lot different than guys who just graduated from high school and college. I say they should have him be in triple A for next season and dont rush him. Dustin Pedroia would be a great fit as new second basman over bellhorn.
  25. red sox have since signed a long-term deal with boston to keep fenway park. ill be surprised if they do, because by 2012 fenway park will become protected by the historical society as it celebrates its 100th bday
