  1. i checked tim wakefield's career stats against the yankees, must say i am impressed cuz its against the yankees he does have an 8-9 record with an ERA of just 2.89
  2. so was the case with nomar, me and my buddies were all bummed about that. but if last season's second half is any indication, im willing to trust what theo does
  3. good to get a win of course tonight, and then sox can attempt a sweep of next team tampa bay which will be visting for 3 game series from monday thru wednesday. that will be happening while yankees travel to texas to play the rangers
  4. or the yankees riddled line-up I read an artcle stating that Redding in the 6th inning of fridays game, he had packed his stuff up and left Fenway Park. His status is now that the yankees designated him for assignment
  5. i was just thinking since the marlins are trying to include third baseman mike lowell and baltimore would consider taking lowell t0o and transition him to first base; maybe thats what boston could try to do as well and offer ((Bronson, Millar, and Shoppach)) for AJ Burnett
  6. wakefield currently has edge over Lieter in wins, ERA, and walks jeez this guy lieter has walked 60 batters halfway through the season compared to wakefield's 45
  7. schilling did work effectively 1-2-3 inning giving the sox a chance to try to come back in a 7-4 game, only throwing 11 pitches. He has now retired 6 straight batters in his first 2 relief appearances for the sox
  8. sketchy does mean risky, which it would be very much so, as it seems right now dustin pedroia from AAA could be called up late august/september so he can help out with that position, plus also it will be giving him a taste of the big leagues, on nesn its been stated time and time again that come spring training 2006, dustin pedroia seems most liekly to take over second base for the sox
  9. im excited about hanley as the next fan is, but still would be sketchy to bring up a player from AA straight to the majors, be a big change for him considering also the pitchers he will face opposed to the pitchers fresh out of high school and college in AA
  10. sox fan in texas i agree with ya completely, if he doesnt start tearing it up, they will be benching him sometime soon. obviously tito's confidence is showing to be worn little by little, if hes now starting to pinch hit for bellhorn in the late innings. hell hes right now on a 13 game streak of striking out as it is... since June 1st: 24 hits out of 129 at bats!!---7 doubles, 5 HRs, 16 RBIs, 23 walks, 2 stolen bases. and of course for last 38 games, 53 friggin strikeouts
  11. thats what i was assuming since they also talked about refurbishing the area around there, including a new big parking garage. if that would be used for youth team, theyd have one hell of a park to play in.
  12. As Im sure about 90% of members on here have heard that the Yankess will be doing away with their historic park "the house that Ruth built" for a new $800 million dollar stadium that will be built on same street and ready for spring 2009. I was just wondering what yankee and sox fans think on this new stadium, as well as eventually tearing down the 82 year old Yankee Stadium. I do think that this new stadium would look like a fine ballpark as the ballparks of the early 20th century were, however I do believe in preserving history, yankees or otherwise
  13. manny is doing "manny" this year, entering June he was in just a cold slump hitting only .257, with the numbers he has produced, Batting average he has right now means jack s***. since June 1: 42 hits for 138 at bats--8 doubles, 12 HRs, 42 RBIs, 30 runs scored, 16 walks, 27 Strikeouts
  14. i was at curt's last rehab as well, oh god and my mom's bf got us seats in the standing room section back in center field. too many people were there that i barely got to see curt up on the mound. i am going tho this friday, very cool my buddies scored front row seats behind the paw sox dugout, get to see youk play im excited for that also be able to see what the prospects like dustin has
  15. sox/yanks pitchers matchup against batters. only doenside for sox batters is that they havent faced him in awhile now, but get some confidence in them with his ERA hovering below the 7 mark currently, plus his first game back as a yankee is game 4 of a series against the ny's hated rival, this is gonna be fun for both teams' fans Tim Wakefield vs: Derek Jeter, 20 for 62 (.323 avg) double, triple, 3 HRs, 4 RBIs, 4 walks, 12 Ks, 5 for 6 SBs Robinson Cano, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) HR, 2 RBIs Hideki Matsui, 4 for 27 (.148 avg) HR, RBI, 3 walks, 4 Ks Jason Giambi, 13 for 65 (.200 avg) 4 doubles, triple, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs, 13 walks, 13 Ks Tino Martinez, 13 for 45 (.289 avg) 4 doubles, triple, 3 HRs, 9 RBIs, 8 walks, 4 Ks, 0 for 1 SB John Flaherty, 2 for 11 (.182 avg) RBI, 2 Ks Jorge Posada, 11 for 43 (.256 avg) 4 doubles, HR, 8 RBIs, 7 walks, 5 Ks Alex Rodriguez, 11 for 46 (.239 avg) 2 HRs, 2 RBIs, 4 walks, 13 Ks, 3 for 4 SBs Gary Sheffield, 6 for 22 (.273 avg) double, RBI, 5 walks, 4 Ks, SB Ruben Sierra, 1 for 13 (.077 avg) 3 Ks Bernie Williams, 11 for 48 (.229 avg) 2 doubles, triple, HR, 6 RBIs, 12 walks, 10 Ks, 2 for 1 SBs Tony Womack, 1 for 9 (.111 avg) double, RBI, 2 Ks Al Leiter vs: Johnny Damon, 0 for 4 Edgar Renterria, 7 for 17 (.412 avg) 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, walk, K, 2 for 3 SBs David Ortiz, 0 for 1 Manny Ramirez, 7 for 17 (.412 avg) double, HR, 3 RBIs, 2 Ks Kevin Millar, 5 for 20 (.250 avg) double, RBI, walk, 2 Ks Jason Varitek, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) Bill Mueller, 1 for 7 (.143 avg) walk, 2 Ks Mark Bellhorn, 0 for 5, 1 K John Olerud, 0 for 5, RBI, 3 walks
  16. I sure hope Kevin Millar is startin to perform the way he did second part of the season. So far for the 3 games of the series he is batting .400 (5 hits for 9 ABs) 3 doubles, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, 4 walks, 0 Ks
  17. im just goin by what remy and rest of nesn staff had called him.
  18. hanley is basically the next "manny" in offense style, except he plays shortstop and has johnny damon type speed
  19. thats right, for shortstop--hanley is next in line for shortstop, and dustin for second base
  20. he needs to put the pressure behind him. like take roger maris, the great yankee player who was at the exact same time the most hated and his own yankee fans in yankee stadium would be booing him just because he wasn't a "true yankee". Each day he got harassment, media bashing on him, fans etc. but still he got up there and belted 61 homeruns, breaking Babe Ruth's record
  21. actually if you go over to portland's main wwebsite it shows his role is still shortstop, he has in several games filled in at second base. it could be likely if edgar has same year as this season, possibly see Hanley get the call up in07 to be the new shortstop, with egar possibly be traded off
  22. david ortiz has held clutch hitter last year and already is doin it moreso than arod for 2005
  23. i see hanley starting in 2007 since he is still in AA, and Dustin Pedroia keeps getting toted as the new second baseman of 2006
  24. arod 2212, ill fall off my chair laughing if you dare say arod is more of a clucth hitter than big papi is
