  1. its becoming more evident we should get a new starting pitcher, try anyway in the market. and put arroyo back in the bullpen where he does much better consistently. and by the way tito, embree is the most inconsistent pitcher for the sox by far. yankees and other teams in teh majors got rid of relief pitchers with ERAs over 6. why cant you?? halfway thru the season embree's ERA is now at 7.93, his contract ends this season, but its best to give him the pink slip right away and call up a jon lester or a papplebon
  2. they have faced redding before, just in limited fashion. edgar has most experience against him.
  3. just several more bad decisions on titos part, keeping embree into the 8th inning when timlin was ready to go in, 3 pitches and gives off a double to jorge (with one-run lead he shoudl have had mueller by the 3rd base line!!). so tito brings in timlin with a man in scoring position (deja vu anyone?) gets the 3 outs but at same time another inherited runner is scored off of timlin. sox would have had a chance in bottom of the 8th inning if not for the f***in umpire calling ankle high pitches by the yankees as strikes. with the 9th inning a tied game, i really thought it would be best for timlin to come in, rather than tito calling in schilling for his spotlight moment. his first relief appearance for the sox shouldve been same as in pawtucket, bring him in when there is already a manageable lead. aside from all that mess, the silver linings were ortiz belting one to give the sox a short lead, trot hitting his 2nd homerun in 2 games which gave the 4-0 lead at the time, and millar who had good offense numbers than we have seen.
  4. just updating the batter vs. pitcher stats for tonight's face off of Wells and Redding, with all of sox except for renterria having limited at-bat experience against Redding. Sox will sure need to light fenway tonight with hits as yankees' roster has very good experience against wells. But still David Wells has a great record against the yanks, 17 - 9 record with a nice 3.02 ERA. Ill be there tonight, and so far 10 of the 12 games ive been to this season, sox won, so got a good record for that. Tim Redding vs: Mark Bellhorn, 0 for 1, 1K Alex Cora, 1 for 4 (.250avg) double, 1 RBI Johnny Damon, 2 for 3 (.667 avg) 1 SB Kevin Millar, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) double, 1 RBI, 1 walk Bill Mueller, 2 for 5 (.400 avg) double Trot Nixon, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) triple, 2 RBI David Ortiz, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) double, 3 RBI Manny Ramirez, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) Edgar Renterria, 5 for 18 (.278 avg) double, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts Jason Varitek, 1 for 2 (.500 avg) David Wells vs: John Flaherty, 3 for 20 (.150 avg) double, 2 RBI, 3 K Jason Giambi, 6 for 23 (.261 avg) 2 doubles, 1 RBI, 4 walks, 2 Ks Derek Jeter, 17 for 49 (.347 avg) 2 doubles, 3 HRs, 7 RBIs, 1 walk, 6 Ks, 1 for 2 SBs Tino Martinez, 6 for 34 (.176 avg) double, 2 RBI, 8 Ks Hideki Matsui, 3 for 9 (.333 avg) RBI, 2 Ks Jorge Posada, 8 for 23 (.348 avg) 4 doubles, 3 Ks Alex Rodriguez, 22 for 66 (.355 avg) 4 doubles, 7 HRs, 17 RBIs, 2 walks, 12 Ks Gary Sheffield, 6 for 18 (.333 avg) double, HR, 3 RBIs, K Ruben Sierra, 23 for 66 (.348 avg) 5 doubles, 2 HRs, 10 RBIs, 4 walks, 8 Ks, 3 for 4 SBs Bernie Williams, 16 for 70 (.229 avg) 2 doubles, 3 HRs, 8 RBIs, 5 walks, 11 Ks, 0 for 2 SBs Tony Womack, 1 for 7 (.143 avg) walk, K
  5. ok i dont know why everybody is downplaying curt's closer abilities, terry just brought in curt so he could have a spotlight moment, in a tied game. I think tito and the sox shouldve brought in curt steadily with starting him off to an inning where a sox has a lead and then ease along to the tougher situations. plus the game wouldve been different if not for the yankee loving umpire calling their ankle-high pitches as strikes, and when our boys would throw exact same picthes they were "balls"
  6. all im sayin, somethin must be up with may and redding, both have ERAs above 9
  7. from last season to this, countless blown saves when yankees had at least a 1-run lead
  8. i see at least a split with a possible 3rd game being an extra inning clincher
  9. i like variteks chances for this series, so far he has the best numbers of the sox against ny this year, 10 for 25 hits--dont count out edgar as well, last series against the yanks he belted 3 homeruns
  10. i call split as well, but thinking a 3rd game will go to either boston or yanks, a tied game goin into extra innings
  11. just like to update the pitching schedule since wang, most consistent yankee pitcher this season, has been put on the 15 DL as Carl Pavano will be out for several more weeks. Game 1: Bronson vs. Mussina Game 2: Wells vs. Redding Game 3: Clement vs. Johnson Game 4: Wakefield vs. May
  12. yankee fans please come and rejoice us with tales of may's and redding's dominations of pitching this season
  13. wow really, another of yankee's starting pitchers has been put on the DL?? wow, and wang has been the most consisten too of yankee pitchers. ok im now sure of 2 games sox can really take the bull by the horns
  14. yawwwn, do you guys hear anything? im just hearing a lot of static right now...
  15. i could think of least likable, not many sox fans this season have embree on their favorites list
  16. i voted Bill Mueller, his defense wedb gems plays along with the clutch hitting hes still continuing in this season, really my favorite player on the team. a soft spoken guy, whos not arrogant at all like fellow 3rd baseman arod for instance. heres hoping he stays on for next year, even if it will be limited duties as kevin youkilis' backup.
  17. More Millar rumblings The Providence Journal reported Thursday that the Sox have told Kevin Millar the same thing they told Jay Payton when he requested a trade: They will only do it if they can get a deal that will help the team. Millar, who has expressed his unhappiness with the increased playing time of John Olerud, will be a free agent after the season. The Journal wrote that Millar is worried that if he doesn't start regularly at first base he won't have impressive statistics to take into the market this winter. Millar is hitting .264 with four home runs and 32 RBIs in 74 games this season. ... According to the Providence Journal, the Mets had two scouts at the Red Sox-Orioles series this weekend, heightening speculation that they are looking at Millar. Newsday reported on Sunday that the Red Sox may have a deal in place that would send Millar to the Astros in exchange for reliever Chad Qualls, who has a 3.89 ERA in 41 games this season. ... According to the Globe's Gordon Edes, "Kevin Millar denied an ESPN report that he had asked the Sox for a trade. Millar said that while he would not be surprised at a trade - 'you hear that kind of talk every year at this time'-- he said he had not asked to be dealt. 'Play baseball, ready to go, it's time to roll,' Millar said. 'We're [three] games up. We're not talking about me right now. I didn't say [expletive]. I ain't going to say [expletive], so you guys are searching for something I'm not going to say right now.
  18. hideki has that certain something about him, but ya know he doesnt like facing pedro that pitch pedro made that got hideki to fall on his back, after that he went hitless rest of the playoffs
  19. Kerrigan goes to work for Yankees? The Philadelphia Daily News reported that former Red Sox manager and pitching coach Joe Kerrigan will soon be working for the Yankees. Yankees GM Brian Cashman reportedly contacted Kerrigan, who served as the Phillies' pitching coach last season, last week. ... More evidence that the Yankees may stand pat at the trade deadline: "We have to get back to doing what made the Yankees so good for such a long period beginning in the '90s," Cashman said, according to an ESPN.com column by Peter Gammons. "We're in the position we're in because we stopped developing our own young players. We can point to what's happened since we brought up Robinson Cano and Chien Wang." Red Sox GM Theo Epstein on Cashman's comments: "I always had a great deal of respect for Brian," he said. "But I have more now than ever. Here he is without a contract, and he's putting the long-term good of the New York Yankees ahead of his own job security." Neither Epstein nor Cashman have deals beyond this season.
  20. only thing i dont like about that, they sent youk back to pawtucket. he must be gettin tired of being sent back and forth from pawtucket to sox multiple times already since last season
  21. exactly so, coming into the may series of sox vs yanks, the yanks were riding high just coming off of winning 15 out of their last 17 games. then came the faceoff in yankee stadium, sox outscored them 30-9 and out hit them 52-21. it couldve have been a 3 game sweep if not for dale svelum's bad decisions in the 6th inning and alan embree giving up back to back homeruns, tallying 5 runs and handing them the win.
  22. we will see how it goes starting 9 hours away
  23. true, but you have been posting as well expect yankees to sweep our boys or 3 out of 4
  24. haha cartoon characters of the yankees are best front story picture i have seen yet
  25. Bronson Arroyo vs: John Flaherty, 1 for 3 (.333 avg) 1 RBI, 2 Ks Jason Giambi, 3 for 12 (.250 avg) 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 Ks Derek Jeter, 2 for 14 (.143 avg) 1 double, 2 walks, 2 Ks Tino Martinez, 1 for 8 (.125 avg) 3 walks, 1 K Hideki Matsui, 8 for 15 (.533 avg) 4 doubles, 6 RBI, 2 walks, 2 Ks Jorge Posada, 2 for 13 (.154 avg) 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 K Alex Rodriguez, 4 for 13 (.308 avg) 1 double, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 walk, 2 Ks Gary Sheffield, 6 for 21 (.286 avg) 2 RBI, 1 walk, 3 Ks Ruben Sierra, 0 for 3 Tony Womack, 0 for 5
