  1. well if down the road the sox do indeed win the division, **knock on wood**, yankees will have some competition for the wild card in the form of the Guardians. theyre a tough group of rookies
  2. jeter is just way too cocky of a player for me to like who he is/what he does
  3. oh i know, like did anyone see how safe by a mile was ortiz at first base. feel bad for him cuz you could see he was tearing it up to get there, with his teeth showing and all.
  4. true, and who knows if maybe theo had asked him to take some time off after watching mondays game
  5. Manny had 3 Papi had 1 Belli had 1 Nixon had 1 Renteria had 1 (17-1, hehehehehe....) I cant for the life of me remember the other one. jay payton had hit the grand slam to left field against the d-rays
  6. I for one am a fan of what Derek Lee has been able to do this season, a candidate to win the triple crown award. Lots of respect for him and plus my favorite team in the NL, have to be the Cubs. My jaw just dropped readin this story on Yahoo sports, hope its not serious. cuz ya know cubs comeback would be sidelined without Lee Lee leaves game with shoulder injury JChicago Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee, who leads the majors with a .378 batting average, left Tuesday night's game against the Atlanta Braves with a shoulder injury. Lee backed out of the batter's box in apparent pain during his first-inning at-bat. He remained in the game and struck out. After playing two innings, however, Lee left the game. The Cubs said Lee left with left shoulder irritation. No further information on the injury or Lee's status was immediately available. Lee is second in the majors with 25 homers and third in the NL with 67 RBIs. Jerry Hairston, who was on deck to bat for Lee in the top of the third, took the field at second base in the bottom of the inning as Todd Walker moved from second to first. Lee started the Cubs' first 82 games at first base.
  7. sox sure do have the grand slams goin this season, the whole season of 04 sox had connected for 5 grand slams. Halfway thru this season, already up to 8 of them, manny doing his part hitting 3. Very cool note of interest, refcord for red sox season is 9. bound to go past that i bet easily
  8. omfg, i hate how i keep hearing 1978 1978 1978, that is just a sports analysts "opinions", i was watching a game earlier in june where the espn announcers called red sox shots making it to the playoffs not likely, and now sittin pretty 4 games above 2nd place baltimore... im just lookin the season as one game at a time
  9. yeah true, im a fan of edgar. surprised by mirabelli going 0 - 4, all strikeouts--trot and olerud both 0 - 4, and bellhorn was also hitless, but ah well thats not worthy pointing out
  10. damn timlin, nice 6 pitches in the 9th being a groundout, fly out, then strikeout to end the game. good way to start off with foulke possibly being out for awhile. and then the baseball gods said undo foulke from the game, then there will be great joy
  11. mantei and now foulke suddenly off away on the "disabled list", vazquez off to pawtucket, cmon get rid of embree and we will be in business
  12. well its about time Foulkeeee, you got urself checked up Foulke to return to Boston July 5, 2005 ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Red Sox closer Keith Foulke will leave the team and return to Boston to determine if a knee problem is the cause of his struggles. The disabled list is a possibility, manager Terry Francona said. "We think there's a chance, but we want to let it run it's course,'' Francona said before Tuesday night's game against the Texas Rangers. "I know he's shouldering a lot of responsibility and it's very difficult for him. He will take the ball every time, so I want to try to help him out.'' Foulke took the loss on Monday night when the Rangers scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to beat Boston 6-5. It was his fourth blown save of the season and his second in a week. Foulke was 5-3 with 32 saves and a 2.17 ERA in his first season for the Red Sox last year, closing out all four games when Boston swept St. Louis for its first World Series title since 1918. But this year he is 5-5 with a 6.23 ERA and 15 saves this season. After being booed off the field at Fenway Park following a ninth-inning grand slam last week, he said, "I've always said the hardest thing is to come in here and face my teammates (rather) than worry about Johnny from Burger King booing me.'' Foulke will fly to Boston on Wednesday and have MRI exams on both knees, Francona said. "I've had extensive talks with him, talks with (general manager Theo Epstein), talks with our medical people,'' Francona said. "This is a tough one. We're having a tough time. He's battling the knee. He feels responsible to pitch, but he's not pitching with the effectiveness we want or need.''
  13. well obviously francona is finally losing patience, i thought steam was comin out of his ears when foulke had loaded the bases--and plus when 9th inning gettin ready to start, mike myers was already in the bullpen warming up
  14. hes surprised that we are agitated by yanks fans invading the red sox fan forum website??
  15. just down playing arod's mentality--hey cmon we did get it bad ourselves in game 7 of 2003, when your boy aaron boone hit the walkoff homer--so yea the yanks had it comin fair and square
  16. everybody doesnt like a player on a rival team of their hometown's--games played at yank stadium, fans erupt in boos for every sox player called up to the plate--This is the greatest rivalry in sports, so you really shouldnt expect any less ya know--besides yes i have an aspect of respect for yankee nation and that is not goin on yankee fan forum sites and posting a blog in each thread
  17. exactly pedro has been having an all star year and will be making the NL start alongside roger--sucks huh the great season both roger and pedro have, and their teams's shots at even a wildcard are not likely at all
  18. actually 2 major incidents--trying to fight our boy tek. lets face it anyway if they were in a fight, tek can easily steamroll him. the other being in october slappin the ball out of bronsons glove than actually denying he ever did it, even tho thats what replays showed in black and white
  19. a few errors at third base NOTE: 10 errors halfway through a season is not a gold glove nominee--and yes i watch every game that appears on fox or espn, and always rooting for the opposing team
  20. is anyone else tired of seein in articles about possible trades for sox to get bullpen relief, it mentions these deals would be "pricey" for the sox. im thinking hey if sox got the money (like each game this season is already sold out), so whhhatt if you have to throw several million at them, itll get done of the blown saves and bullpen crumblings--go for a billy wagner, guardado, even brien fuentes of the rockies
  21. be weird very much to be cheering on the brother of the yank Aaron who hit the homerun in 2003 to delay sox again from goin to a world series
  22. i do know hes not a strikeout casualty as such--52 strikeouts compared to Bellhorn's major league leading 93 strikeouts
  23. yeah thats our gay jeter, haha, honestly what does it look like hes trying to do?
  24. jeremi gonzalez and dinardo have been called up to take the slack off of timlin, jeremi did his part gettin the first 2 outs in the 7th inning
  25. he should be scared, the job he held oustanding last season, is basically in jeopardy
