  1. oh my god, i cant speak.. so happy... jumping for joy, theo is the man by finally cutting ties with embree, that ridiculous ERA of under 8 and upgrading over Alex Cora for "Tony G" from the Royals, 298 avg --jeez Sox really didnt have to give up much to get him, chip ambres from triple A, and a leseer known prospect from the Wilmington A League
  2. its cool, anyone wouldnt realize kevin youkilis was on the team with him keep beings ent back down to pawtucket with limited number of at bats they have given him, compared to last season thus far,.
  3. we do in the form of kevin youkilis.
  4. :what: in his very first game, he beat out the double play and then stole a base right after that agaisnt the orioles
  5. youkilis is already going to get play everday come spring '06
  6. thats all in true forms, but still dude for them to replay every call, god we would be seeing some long-ass games for umpires to convert and watch the replays. last october games had lasted past 5 hours without replays. baseball would surely miss the entertainment that showed managers throwing tantrums about the calls bu umpires
  7. thats right, my bad--to make room for kapler, theyd have to send somebody down from the bullpen then
  8. how can we have a 5th outfielder, hard to give him and kapler good number of at bats and playing time. On WEEI yesterday, Theo Epstein had said Gabe Kapler will be back in roughly 3 weeks.
  9. i like stern so much, its just fact of the matter is with gabe kapler coming back to the sox, probably to the majors by next month. thered be no room for a 5th outfielder and even if Sox were to send Stern down to triple A, Atalnta would snatch him up easily anyway.
  10. yes he did give up a 2-run homerun first relief apprearance, but he has since settled down very much so. through 3 relief appearnces. 3.0 innings pitched---3 hits, 2 earned runs, 4 strikeouts, no walks
  11. oh no not at all, 3 out of 4 in tampa, and then again 3 out of 4 in yankee stadium. is not getting routinely beat by them.
  12. Ponson of the O's, is really the only pitcher that the Sox own him
  13. yes those select few along with rookie robinson cano i have respect for as people
  14. shoppach is by far the easiest prospect for theo to get rid of since mirabelli and varitek are goin nowhere for awhile. Adam Stern I can see the Sox trading off as well, since Gabe will be coming back sometime next month to take over the 4th oufielder spot. Plus if Sox send back Stern to minors, Atlanta will be able to pick him up on teh Rule 5 draft and sox will get nothin in return. A package deal of Bronson, Shoppach, Alvarez, and Stern would be appealing to any team.
  15. who whoa dude get rid of youkilis?? hes already bound to become our new 3rd baseman next spring
  16. yawwwn and what dude like that double play calling alex cora out at first base was a good call on sunday night??
  17. Biggest hole in yankees roster is really the pitching rotation, with johnson and mussina being the most consistent starteres, and really no "Ace" as of now. Guess what Kevin Brown last night just did for the yanks 4 1/3 innings, giving up 10 hits and 7 earned runs. I was watching the post game and they noted it appears that Kevin Brown couldve hurt his back yet again...
  18. i just read that on "The Buzz" its a sports section on boston.com that updates daily on trade rumors involving the Sox and other teams in the AL East. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/thebuzz/
  19. ugh, i can see it now 3 game series against the Orioles---Game 1. AJ Burnett vs Wade Miller, Game 2. Erik Bedard vs. Bronson Arroyo, Game 3. Rodrigo Lopez vs. David Wells
  20. exactly let the hammer fall by releasing embree and halamma, call up paplebon from triple A, and re-sign el guapo back--now that would be a bullpen for teams to be scared of, especially if foulke returns to his form
  21. maybe sox can try to get another packaged deal of bronson, kelly shoppach, abe alvarez for bill wagner of the phillies
  22. Oh I know that. i was just agreeing with soxie, about how wade miller has been a bad pickup on theos part thus far this season.
  23. yeah his 298 avg, means he can get on base for the team. and sox are in need of baserunners actually able to get home. Last night we had 6 walks, johnny on base from an error, and 3 hits. Thats 10 baserunners altogether, and scored just one run.
  24. Sox reportedly contact Twins about Romero The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that the Red Sox have contacted the Twins about reliever J.C. Romero. The Red Sox are known to be actively shopping for bullpen help, and the Twins have one of the deepest pens in the league. Romero, a left-handed reliever, has a 2.31 ERA this season. The Twins are looking to bolster their offense, especially from the infield positions. The Star Tribune reported that the Twins might be interested in acquiring someone like Bill Mueller.
  25. Last updated: 7/18 Henry: Sox payroll will likely increase before deadline The Boston Globe reported that Red Sox owner John W. Henry, in an interview with Bloomberg news service, said there is a "very good probability that we will increase payroll before the trading deadline." The Red Sox currently have the second highest payroll in the major leagues at $123.5 million. In a Tuesday morning radio interview, Curt Schilling said he fully expects the Red Sox to make a deal before the deadline. ... The Providence Journal reported that the Red Sox may be looking for an upgrade at second base. While the asking price was deemed too high, the onset of Mark Bellhorn's injury (sprained left thumb) might compel the Sox to make a move. The Journal reported that the team has already inquired about Royals infielder Tony Graffanino, and that the Rangers are actively shopping Alfonso Soriano.
