  1. Wakefield will be 40 but no no need to worry because knuckleballers age like fine wine and hardly break down. Strictly just knuckleball pitchers have been to known to pitch close to the age of 50.
  2. Im with you there on that. If such a rebound of a season happens, why not resign him to 2 seasons to bridge the gap to another home grown Red Sox prospect Jed Lowrie ---------------------- hey "schillingouttheKs', I had found Gonzo's hitting chart, http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/stats/mlb_individual_player_hitting_chart.jsp?playerID=136460&statType=1 Just like Lowell & Loretta, he's a dead pull hitter and just about all of his doubles (2 Hrs indluded) in Pro Player Stadium went to left field. Some biased people dont like to hear the cold hard facts. The trio of Lowell, Loretta, & Gomzo will make their fair share of dents on the monster
  3. just something that had caught my eye
  4. Sooo Johnny has taken out a full page in today's Boston Globe thanking the Red Sox fans. It has a faded pitcure of him in a Red Sox uniform with a letter over it that reads Ok maybe its just because im a die hard sox fan, but that was it?? A note? Drew Bledsoe's heartfelt thankyou letter to the fans was longer and put even more thought into this. Sorry until I hear otherwise, its to save face considering his recent comments and salvage any type of standing ovation he think he will get here.
  5. The Guardians have one of the best farm systems in the majors. So to pluck him away is a great signing.
  6. It would be a great thing no doubt, Id be stoked if the following season Theo then takes another shot at NY by being able to ink Pettitte. Maybe its only viable in MVP 06 i know, but hey i can dream.
  7. True and as much as I wanted Bradford & Myers to stay. Tito will have now a seemingly easier time to decide the matchups as he has relief pitchers like Riske who can get out lefties but still keep in them when a righty comes up to the plate.
  8. Farnsworth still has to work out his "bright lights" issue. That being he seems to fold up in high pressured game such as his appearances in the playoffs. Moving to Yankee Stadium can only raise concerns about that. Just my opinion. :dunno:
  9. then why did the red sox propose such a trade?
  10. he's already set with the power I believe, debut season to have 14 Hrs/62 RBIs is very good considering who he is playing for and in the tightrope American League. Stiil just 16 Walks in 132 games is something that needs more work. Besides HRs, what makes a great power hitter is that he can get on base alot even without hitting the ball.
  11. Just wondering, but Felix had pitched 84 innings last season. I was sure the max is set at 50 for the previous season. Wouldnt that make him in-eligible to be considered for the ROY of 2006?
  12. with respect to yankee fans on here, Cano reminds me as the 2nd coming of Soriano, except for the excessive amount of Ks. Just my opinion while I was tracking his debut season. I give him his due and is one of the players of the Yankees I feel no need to boo at. He can hit for power, got him pegged for 20-25 HRs But lacks plate discipline & and currently uses the same type of glove Alfonso uses
  13. This guy might not be talked about that much or be big on stats, but he is as solid as a guy youd like to have on the special teams unit and in the clubhouse. Overall good re-signing.
  14. As would I, bet anything NESN would play the video 24/7 the first week Roger was to start his first game haha Of course thats still a big IF, but I can dream :dunno:
  15. none taken, my Dad had won tickets so he brought the family. I got no complaints now of course that I was there for that, BUT when I was 3 I was starting to get cranky by the 3rd/4th inning haha
  16. True I was 3 at the time, but more memorbale because it was the first Sox game I had been to. I say no lies. My grandfather was able to get ahold of a tape of the game and as a kid I had easily won out that tape
  17. alrighty--most memorable being game 7 of the 86 playoffs that clinched World Series ticket, 8-1 win. Roger had pitched on just 3 days rest
  18. Win/Loss records can be at sometimes deceiving. Beckett & Burnett this past season alone would have each close to 20 wins if not for the avg of 3 run support a game. Clemens as well in 05 shouldve won the Cy young but the Astros really stepped up no offense for him, was it like 5 games he pitched the Astros lost 1-0?? How about instead we look at the ERA's of his last 4 seasons with Boston? 1993- 4.46 / 160 Ks 1994- 2.85 / 168 Ks 1995- 4.18 / 132 Ks 1996- 3.63 / 257 Ks
  19. I was thinking the same thing but I remembered that last April 19 they had extended Wakefield's contract to avoid him hitting free agency.
  20. I agree, of course doing this would end up with 8 starting pitchers. A trade would likely follow shortly after, but would probably still keep Paps in the pen. A healthy rotation of Clemens, Schilling, Beckett, Wells/Clement, & Wakefield would be the stuff that dreams are made of. Papelbon & Arroyo would then give solid go-to guys for a spot start opposed to last years duo of Halama & my boy Gonzo,
  21. He just turned 31, a 2 season deal would seem plausible
  22. i was responding to your quote as you were basically asking me.. Who would I want, a potential dominant relief pitcher like Hansen or a high caliber shortstop prospect like CJ Henry. God forbid I answer back We're just having fun and shooting the s*** here. No doubt Yankees have promising prospects, Im actuall anticipating Hughes' major league debut as it will also be a big step up from the lacluster debut of Sean Henn. How about if we let bygones be bygones. And start off on the right foot, talksox has already had its share of meaningless arguments. ok?
  23. Like it or not, who knows it could happen. This just in from WEEI, Theo will soon board a plane to Texas to meet with Roger & his agents and to show the video I have previously mentioned. Sounds like they are making a serious run
