  1. http://soxprospects.com/players/images/phillips.ryan.jpg Age: 21 Born: May 29, 1984 Resides: Altus, OK Height: 6-4 Weight: 210 Bats: Left Throws: Left Drafted: 11th round, 2004 College: Barton County CC High School: Altus HS ETA: 2009 Ryan Phillips is quite the 2004 drafted starting pitcher who has flown under the radar. His 2004 season was delayed due to minor frays found in his labrum. Like in Manny Delcarmen's case, Phillips was impressive coming off of surgery. Hence being named to the NYPL All Star team. I'll give any updates as they come. 2005 (Lowell)- 14 starts, 7-2 record, 2.28 ERA, 61 Ks in 67 innings pitched. ---------------------------------------- Scouting Report: Three-quarters arm slot. Fastball typically hits high 80s, but occasionally tops out in the low 90s. Mixes in his change-up well. Missed 2004 pro season after signing early and finding minor frays in his labrum.
  2. Its cool, i was just double checking. Here is his scouting report. There's a good possibility he will be seeing some time in Lowell this year. http://soxprospects.com/players/egan-jonathan.htm EDIT: If possible Id also like to claim a not much talked about drafted pitcher named Ryan Phillips. http://soxprospects.com/players/phillips-ryan.htm
  3. Concerning Jed Lowrie, anyone think its plauisble Sox could resign Loretta (of course if he has productive year) to the tune of 2 seasons. In essence to bridge the gap to Lowrie
  4. I have Jonathan Egan, catcher who was drafted last year.
  5. Kevin Brown will retire. With recent years of him having back troubles, i had almost forgotten how a dominating pitcher he was in his time before NY.
  6. And who said Curt doesnt like to be optimistic? Schil is targeting 35 starts, 245 innings (avg 7 innings per start) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060218&content_id=1314833&vkey=spt2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos
  7. Haha. It sounds like George is not liking Guillen all that much, even with his apology.
  8. I bet George sent "some guys" to go & meet with Ozzie. Seriously though, this is the first time he has taken back one of his remarks.
  9. To quote from Casablanca: "I believe this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" All eyes are sure to be looking toward next season of a rotation including Josh Beckett, Jonathan Papelbon, and Jon Lester. Or what I like to call them as the "Triple J Threat" EDIT: take a look at a more slim Schilling http://www.bostondirtdogs.com/
  10. For those that are interested, NESN has a clip of talking with newcomers Beckett & Riske, it also shows brifely doing bullpen sessions. A special edition of "Red Sox Now" this Sunday at 930 pm on NESN, they will be reporting live from Ft Myers. A long & frustrating offseason is inching closer to being over http://www.boston.com/sports/nesn/
  11. This is coming from http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2006/02/contraction_on_.html http://www.all-baseball.com/cubreporter/archives/021825.html so take it as its worth. Apparently the MLB will have a 3 month window to decide if 1 or 2 teams could be eliminated from baseball for the 2007 season. The teams mainly include teams who are having stadium issues such as the Twins, Nationals & Marlins. Other teams referenced are the Devil Rays & Rockies. Just something that had caught my eye.
  12. Sosa brought this all on himself, plain & simple. I cant find a reason at all to feel bad for him. One of the main reasons he didnt accept the Nationals offer was because it wasnt enough money. All reports were indicating they were going to have him as the starter, not the bench & give him the chance to salvage the pitiful 2005 he had. Juiced guys "leaving" baseball: Sammy Sosa, check Rafael Palmeiro, he somehow still believes a team wants him Barry Bonds, this should be his last season (Im rooting for him to not even come close to breaking Aaron's record, he doesnt deserve it)
  13. Another Yankees pitcher could be down for the beginning of the season. But if Sturtze did miss time, it wouldnt put that much of a dent.
  14. Honestly, who could've predicted this?
  15. So basically wouldnt they be along the lines of the "Colts" of the MLB? They got the weapons to get things done easily in the regular season, but as of right now cant seem to get anything done. I dont know, just something Ive been thinking about :dunno:
  16. This doesnt come as a shock really, but I hope he does good in future endeavors along with taking a job with ESPN. A real classy guy and I give him his due.
  17. This is a steal for the Angels since in today's free agent market era & his agent (Scott Boras) was able to acquire his services for just 1 season at $8.5 million. Another plus is he will be a big innings eater for them. Other than that, AL lineups will welcome Weaver with open arms. The Angels lineup even with Vladdy wont give him the type of run support he will need. Im predicting a 4.40 or worse ERA with 10-13 wins.
  18. The Cardinals also signed Sydney Ponson. He will be good in the NL. Thats of course unless he can stay away from the drink, or the Law at the same time rather.
  19. oh sure thing go to http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/gallery;_ylt=An2cW5WSpXleUwO4H1V0nYgRvLYF
  20. Anyone feel free to come up with a caption for this photo of Jeter training
  21. ok I was 1 number off, but the fact remains that Piazza has his old Padres #
  22. Anyone else anticipating the death of reality television?
  23. True, I wouldnt mind hearing that the Sox end up trading Wells to San Diego, getting Mirabelli back here. But Kevin Towers is being adamant that we take on the 40 year old erratic Woody Williams. Which is a big reason I believe the talks between the two teams have died down.
  24. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20060213&content_id=1310504&vkey=pr_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos The six Red Sox selected to the Red Sox Hall of Fame are infielder Vern Stephens (1948-52), righthander Ellis Kinder (1948-55), second baseman Jerry Remy (1978-84), first baseman George Scott (1966-71, 1977-79) and managers Joe Morgan (1988-91) and Dick Williams (1967-69).
  25. Okkk but he's saying that he thinks Loretta will not struggle out of the gate, which is my belief as well. Its cool, you have your opinion, and I have mine. EDIT: I will give you bragging rights if Loretta has a batting avg of below .275 in April
