  1. Joe Buck was rightfully getting annoyed at him during the last Sox/Yanks game when McCarver kept playing the song "Everybody hurts" that was basically poking fun at the Red Sox fans close to the end of the game. Third time McCarver played it, Buck just went "Would you turn that off already?" Like I said it was that point I muted the tv and put the radio on.
  2. Sorry if I had instigated at you, just trudging through a bad day and this other guy's post made it sound like us red sox fans arent loyal. Shouldve honestly been at OC's first game back as it was unreal. His first AB, I couldnt hear myself talk. You caught us just still shortly after the time Johnny has switched sides. Probably in some time we'll accept it and applaud like when most of us officially closed the grudge case on Clemens.
  3. it does help my argument somewhat. Its the truth I realize that, this falls along the lines of Clemens & Boggs. Really how wouldve you guys acted if couple years ago you turn on the tv, "Andy Petitte agrees to Red Sox offer." Im guessing not all warm thoughts
  4. who the f*** said anything about us crucifying him? Just about every game he had here this past season he got a big standing ovation each time as will Pedro, DLowe, Mueller and the others except for Damon. I wanted OC to be resigned as did much more people. Two words David Wells. Dont even twist around his debut at Yankee Stadium in a Red Sox uniform, he got the booed every chance the yankee fans got the chance. There was even countless crude signs. Besides that, you havent had to deal with high profile players of yours going to the Red Sox. So you dont know how it feels. Again get off of your pedastal go look at the past game threads, we always agonized on how his arm is rubber.
  5. sidetrack: is the 2K games the one in which you are able to sub in regular players as relief pitchers? Last year I swore I had Big Papi pitching 2 shutout innings of relief against the Yankees. Haha it was classic, of course his only pitch was fastball.
  6. get off your f***ing pedastal, we do not crucify every player that leaves town. Last year OC got an uproarious standing "O" while this season we should see for Millar & Pedro. Renteria & Mueller whenever they make it back here. As far as Damon goes he did promise the fans he could never play for the Yankees, money is no object to him. It was that quote not the FO that turned the knife in our backs. Along with him joining our hated rival. I guarantee there wouldve been a standing O had he signed anywhere else. Sorry but its the truth and dont give me "ah yankee fans would never do that to players who switch sides" because it has happened. You talk about how Sox let Mueller go. There's a player that goes by the name of Youkilis thats been waiting in the wings since 04. Just about everyone was expecting Mueller to go. Sox made the Florida trade not to stick it to Mueller but because they could get a potential ace in Josh Beckett. Still they are getting a 3rd baseman who could rival Chavez & A-Rod for the 06 gold glove, and given Fenway's Park dimensions has a good shot of a better season. Rebuttal of Lowell having a good offensive year in 3, 2, 1...
  7. Papelbon is going to be a sick pitcher, already drawing early comparisons to the great Rocket, Im not saying he's a potential 300 game winner but he is the first starting pitcher of the system to have that type of debut. Last such of a strong debut like that was Roger 22 years ago. Call me crazy if you like, but I hold so much value in this kid, Id balk at the Angels offer of Valddy for him straight up.
  8. huh, the preview video clips have beckett down with the #21. Of course thats a default mechanism, as it has been announced that he will don the #19 I'll probably rent all the new games and then decided which one is best. Of course I wouldve chosen MVP 06 hands down if they had actually frigging made it that is
  9. ah but still contradicted your own statement Regardless, the last 3 offseasons havent shown that much of high caliber players at the same time the Sox need to fill a certain hole. Although i can recall in the 03 offseason the Sox had offered the biggest deal to Andy Pettitte, somewhere around 4 years/$60 million. Whose to suggest that they wont make a free agent offer like that again?
  10. so you are under the assumption that alex gonzalez will be resigned to an extension and be the shortstop for 2007? That contract of his shows confidence by the Sox FO that they want him here long term? EDIT; Is that from the scouting report in your head?
  11. Wouldnt you actually say moreso the shortstop position for 2007? Why else would they sign Alex Gonzalez to a 1 season contract? One in which that is guaranteed only if he makes it through spring training. There's not that much of a deep FA market in shortstops really. On WEEI it was discussed that the Sox could end up extending Loretta's contract by 1 or 2 more seasons to allow more time for Jed Lowrie to move up in the ranks.
  12. He's so bad, erroneous jokes aside, I actually mute my TV now and play weei on the radio
  13. RotoAuthority's Josh Beckett 06 projection using stats from Bill James Handbook, and figuring in Fenway Park factor.
  14. Basically we got Bellhorn back but this time with more of a slick glove
  15. Trust me, the Sox would be able to fork over the money for him. I could see something like 5 years/$60 million. Lee is worth that money Yes Pujols would be good, but regardless Cardinals wouldnt trade him at all. And I perish the thought of Bostron trading away my big papi, including two more of our top prospects. So that should be a dead issue
  16. There is one HR threat that I know will be a free agent If there was any way for Sox to acquire Derrek Lee this next offseason, it would make my day instantly. Sorry if I posted this in another thread. Im just gonna be lobbying this season in hopes of Boston acquiring the 6'-5" power slugging 1st baseman. Its insurance in case Manny is traded, or even a hell of a bonus with Manny still in the lineup. 3. Ortiz 4. Ramirez 5. Lee
  17. Haha, I wouldnt think so. EDIT: Damn I just read on the game info page "Rosters updated through Jan 15". This of course means Adam Stern will be the default center fielder.
  18. I was scanning through on the new baseball game ESPN 2K6, coming out this spring. It brought me to a behind the scenes section of photos taken from a commercial of Beckett having to face Derek Jeter. First time seeing him adorn the Red Sox Uni with the #19, it looks like a great fit. I hope this starts airing soon http://www.2ksports.com/media/eventview.php?id=2111&gid=20
  19. Id love to see once the season ends... Sox to deal off Lowell even if he has a good year, better he has one the better we'll get in return. Then with Theo's magic sign Derrek Lee as the new Sox 1st baseman, along the lines of 4-6 seasons.
  20. Sorry to burst your bubble but its really just a 1 year contract for a reason, to give Dustin Pedroia more time in the minors
  21. Red Sox's Alex Cora & Alex Gonzalez instill great offense in a good start to the caribbean series. While newly acquired pitcher Tavarez floundered in relief...
  22. as he was doing that by the end of the season, July/August he was lucky to reach 95. Hence a rehabbing process of playing hurt
  23. Seriously, he's starting to remind me of the lambchop song, "This is the song that never ends"
  24. eh its now something i dont go into high panic mode or anything because by now it has nowhere near of a chance of actually getting done. Heck the Sox almost landed Tejada, but at the last minute Manny demanded Baltimore take his 2 extra option seasons. Course the O's scrapped it right away. Just give him a muzzle and his friend Enrique Wilson as a bench player, he'll still give 40/130 for the season
