  1. Papelbon will pitch the spring training opener Just a little fact, Papelbon's last appearance against the Twins was his major league debut.
  2. Haha myself I recently got a sweatshirt Front: What Would Judas Do??? Back: Ask Johnny Damon
  3. Same thing. At the most I could see Wilson getting a September call-up if he's still with the organization by that moment. I also put up this photo, because yankee fans on here have shown pics of Damon/Clemens in their Yankee duds. This is a player that was a fan favorite in the Bronx, but now sporting the Red B
  4. Former Yankee, Enrique Wilson, works out in his "Red Sox best" http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/gallery/02_23_06_workouts?pg=9
  5. Sure, count out Papelbon. That will take you far. Name one factor that makes you believe he'll be not that good of a starter. And where did I say, good relief pitchers can be great at starting games? I was trying to make a point of how you said Papelbon isnt proven. The kid is cool under pressure, and if in the opening day staff I can see a 3.75-4.10 ERA with 13-16 wins
  6. Actually, first it was 3 games that he started. Yeah I guess taking over as the set up man in a tight knit pennant race (ranked the best in September) then 4 scoreless innings in the playoffs is not proven. He's going to be a cornerstone of the Red Sox rotation. Like MCHammer has pointed out, Wang had spent 2 months on the DL due to shoulder inflammation. A pitcher this young having that type of wearing out shouldnt be taken lightly. Hence why the Yankees FO are glad he wont be taking part in the WBC. The health factor does edge in Paps' favor. Wang will win 15 +/- games but that will be helped greatly by the lineup like the 2005 Sox pitching staff had Schilling had 3 good starts at the end of the season, not just the one where he had quieted the bronx on that Saturday afternoon.
  7. As it stands right now, his stats speak for themselves. He led the starters in lowest ERA, and made the all-star team. Heading into the 2006 season, I'll be sure to track his appearances.
  8. Another Dominican gone, as Texas Rangers closer Francisco Cordero has pulled himself out of the WBC. Its because of a sore shoulder
  9. oh yea, I got tix for the 2nd game of the series. Its basically like 15 rows up from the Yanks dugout. I just need to let it all out, its been building up in me since that dark day in December
  10. Hey ya know, he's just making it easier for us to boo him.
  11. Yeaa but you know it will be talked about a lot in October if the Yankees dont win it all. A lot can happen in the regular season as well as the postseason, theres some thing you just cant gurantee. Or it will come back and bit you on the ass. I also found in the article of Damon further distancing himself from RS fans (I still cant believe he thought that "letter" ad in the Boston Globe was going to mend the fences) He also mentioned that hearing fans chant "Johnny Johnny" means Yankee fans have accepted him. Please, he wont be fully accepted by Yankee fans until he fashions a new ring. Same reason why there is still scrutiny towards Arod
  12. Well I got a good laugh in Just now: Boston's 7 News sports correspondent Joe Amorosino was showing on camera, Damon in his "Yankees Best" getting together with his teammates. Joe had let a swear slide in as he said, "Damon is getting acquainted with his new co-outfielders Hideki Matsui and Gary Shitfield.--PAUSE--Of course his last name is Sheffield"
  13. Along with Phillips, he's another lefty pitcher I believe could have potential. He's 18 and already touching 90, so thats a start with me. Also his pitches are steadily improving. I look forward to what 2006 will bring.
  14. Age: 18 Born: Oct 27, 1987 Resides: Venezuela Height: 6-2 Weight: 160 Bats: Left Throws: Left Drafted: International free agent (2004) 2005 VSL Red Sox- 13 starts, 7-1 record, 0.97 ERA, 58 Ks in 64.2 innings ---------------------------------------- Scouting Report: Felix Doubront was well known as a bonus baby heading into the 2005 season. However, the 17 year-old lefty exceeded the expectations to become a candidate for the league pitcher of the year. Doubront utilizes a high 80s fastball that tops out at 91, with average breaking pitches which have steadily improved in short time. Likely will begin 2006 in the GCL.
  15. Im still laughing about this deal also concerning Pavano: Boston: Pedro Martinez Montreal: Carl Pavano, Tony Armas Jr.
  16. Courtsey of mlb4u.com http://mlb4u.com/nyy.html
  17. Pavano- 4 years/$40 million Wright- 3 years/$21 million (The X factor that works out for NY is that they can void his 3rd year. That being if in the first 2 years, he goes on a combined 75 days on the DL. Which is very likely)
  18. These photos of today's workoouts are some great clips featuring newcomers Crisp, Loretta, Lowell & Snow. http://www.mlb.com/bos/photogallery/year_2006/month_02/day_22/cf1319180.html http://www.mlb.com/bos/photogallery/year_2006/month_02/day_22/cf1319181.html Again, this second page shows a slimmed out Varitek
  19. Count two more out David Dellucci will not go to the WBC, instead like other players to get ready for the season. Vernon Wells will miss out on the 1st round due to tweaking his left leg a couple of days ago. The team I bet will have him stay at camp for the other rounds even if his leg feels better.
  20. Bonds, when the season had ended, set a goal to lose 25-30 pounds by the start of spring training. And guess how much he basically lost... that would be just 5 pounds. The weight he'll be putting on his weak knees will be a rehash of the end of last season (say hell to the bench Barry). Do the Giants really want him in the outfield? Let alone 100 plus games just so he can try & break a record? Anyways, I got the Dodgers (Red Sox West) to come out on top in this weak division.
  21. This didnt take long. On the New York Post is an article on about how the Mets should go after Manny. It also indicated that Beltran or Milledge are still untouchable, so whats the point of sending Manny to the Mets? Theo wont trade a player of his caliber for a bag of balls. Same thing goes for the Angels if they want to be serious. http://www.nypost.com/sports/mets/62240.htm
  22. Hence what happened month & a half ago. The Sox were closing in on a deal with Baltimore, Miguel for Manny straight up. At the last minute, Manny made a new declaration that his 2 option years (40 million) had to be picked up for him to allow the trade. I honestly cant predict what will happen next. Who knows, Manny could end up staying here through the end of his contract in 2008.
