  1. Funny, because I got this from the "Associated Press" release through Foxsports EDIT: Conflicting report has the globe & herald saying 2006 offseason, so thats a typo on the Associated Press' fault. Still like Walrus said, an extension can be during the season if he comes firing out and is healtheir in terms of blisters. Afterall they have called him "the ace of the future", so I expect him to be locked down.
  2. The Boston Herald has just reported that as we speak the Red Sox are making a serious run at Rocket. In the process of compiling a presentation video for Roger to see. Just thought you guys would like to know
  3. No he wont become a free agent officially until the 2007 offseason. Red Sox are doing this as a cautionary measure to see how he does in Boston 's bright lights, the AL matchups, and his blister issues. They can still extend his contract during this season. This is his second arbitration, players have 3. Dont worry, ok
  4. Im not worried about not getting a shortstop early in last year's draft as we are set to have Dustin Pedroia, who does have a shot still of becoming the regular shortstop this season.
  5. Do you mean the total 3 innings pitched in the majors?? Thanks spin doctor but those 3 innings doesnt necessarily mean he wont make it in the majors. Things to take in consideration just 5 months earlier he graduated from college, thats a big leap for any pitcher and plus before he was called up had been on a shut down due to cut down on his innings pitched as a precaution. Lets also throw out he had 10 scoreless innings with 10 Ks making his quick jump to Double A. Just because he's a Red Sox shouldnt cloud that this kid has potential stuff to be a great pitcher.
  6. Overall the Sox are set to improve their farm even more, including Damon's and Mueller's compensated draft picks... the sox will get 7 picks in the first 3 rounds. Id say thats pretty good. And IMO it is pathetic to talk crap about Hansen, "oh he's overrated". Especially that last sentence, them not drafting Hansen is one of the best moves in the last 5 years?? Must be slow goings of the Yankees FO if that was one of the "best moves" they had done since 2001. You need to realize he was scouted as the best pitcher taken in the 1st round. Rightfully so he will start the season off in Triple A, he just needs to his slider down and be set to be the opening day closer of 2007. ----------------------- here's his scouting report Scouting Report: Hansen's fastball (the best in the system) has topped out in the high 90s, and he consistently hits the mid-90s. He also possesses an excellent high-80s slider, which also was voted best in the system by Baseball America. A fierce competitor who has an excellent closer mentality. Does not walk many batters. Named "closest to the majors" of all players in the 2005 draft.
  7. just a minor update I was just looking at the sox roster on redsox.com and Im sure they had updated the uniform #s for the newcomers. Josh Bard- Belli's 28... old number 44 Josh Beckett- 19...old number 21 John Flaherty- Millar's 15... old number 17 Alex Gonzalez- Billy Ballgame's 11... no change Mark Loretta- Renteria's 3... old number 8 Mike Lowell- 25... old number 19 David Riske- 54... no change Rudy Seanez- 37... no change J.T. Snow- 84 (in memory of his father, wide receiver for the Rams)... old number 9 Julian Tavarez- 51... old number 50 Coco Crisp's # hasnt been updated as of yet. He wore 10 for Cleveland, which Tony G for now is wearing.
  8. True DiNardo will be the lefty in the pen, but will be used more in middle relief/long innings. Just discussing who gets lefties out the best, DiNardo currently stands at a .296 batting avg against lefties.
  9. Jonathan Papelbon is another Sox right reliever who has proven thus far to get lefties out, a surprising .190 clip
  10. DiNardo is projected to be the only lefty. But a go-to guy to get lefties out can be... Riske in 05 held lefties to a .213 batting avg, career wise it stands at .205 EDIT: Unlike Myers he can be kept in the game when there is a righty, those batters hit just .205 this past season against him
  11. 26 to 6 did acknowledge that Everything will thankfully be put on the field just under 2 months away.
  12. I'll claim Jonathan Egan, catching prospect drafted last season. Hope to see him play in Lowell this year.
  13. The one thing that Irked me is that he kept bringing in Timlin when there was runners on base even by the end of the season
  14. Dude get off of it. Thats not how we all think. Example being sure Im going to be at Damon's first game back & boo out my built-up aggression, it doesnt mean I think he's gonna suck. Though his yankee stadium's stats are right now iffy, what is certain he could become a "Red Sox killer" because of his dominating stats at Fenway Park.
  15. I like the Red Sox being the "dark horse" of the division
  16. For the Blue Jays sake, hoping Molina can much improve on his hitting at the Rogers Centre. 20 games, .178 avg
  17. From what I can gather, the Sox will be paying Atlanta $11 million straight up. I'll try to find info on the deal to clarify this
  18. Dont worry "He Hate me", ORS is responding to what TheRivernator has been ranting about on the past couple of pages.
  19. He would make a great fit to the team and with Tom Brady. Also added insurance to add a veteran wide receiver with playoff history considering Troy Brown could be nearing retirement and high possibility that Givens could leave for another team.
  20. sidetrack: here's an insightful article that us red sox fans will have a good read, detailing about how our boy Paps is the early favorite to win the Rookie of the Year http://www.ecnnews.com/cgi-bin/15/etstory.pl?-sec-Sports+fn-fn-waitis.205-20060205-fn
  21. very cool, I had sent the Boston Dirt Dogs site the link I had supplied you guys about this commercial. Which they have now posted on their site and an email my way thanking for the heads up as of course this was secretly talked about. http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_Archives/2006/02/beckett_takes_t.html
  22. Did David Wells promise his fans he would never go to Boston? No he didnt. Actually as I said in my post, I DID want him back. And no Im more loyal to the players, the organization bid Roger Clemens adieu way before he was done. Dan Duquette was rightfully let go, thank god. The yankee fans here other than you speak more soundly and dont really like to start fights. Every post of yours gives us good reason enough to counter back. Stop telling me how I would have reacted or said. Pedro took the highest offer, but he will get a standing ovation. There's no doubt in my mind OC wouldve still gotten a standing O. Its not for how much money they took, its plain and simple who they didnt sign with. now you're just talking out of your ass, no wait its every one of your posts just about
  23. He's still an upgrade over that jackass of a catcher Gregg Zaun, but as of yet Im not counting them out until I see what the finished product brings to the field. Starting on April 11, the home opening series being against them.
