  1. As Gordon edes has suggest it would be a pitcher plus Nixon. Im sure Theo is looking into all avenues.
  2. Welcome to the site, and have your fun if you please Dont mind if you get into an argument back & forth with Yankee fans, its just more of an indication how close we are to seeing actual baseball be played out  61 days left & counting
  3. I think this will be RJ's last career season, and Mussina's last season with the Yanks. I expect them to make another hard run for Petitte. Damn I was just starting to like & root for him, haha just playin
  4. Without a doubt the Sox would jump at a Wells/Nixon for Lee swap. It would only better the lineup, with regards to my boy Trot.
  5. I came upon this on Boston.com from Gordon Edes. Thought his name was dropped from trade consideration. Im not sure how to think about this as I want Nixon to stay for his last season of his contract.
  6. As for closer, all accounts have Papelbon being plan B. I want him in the rotation of course. But Id be calm and collect giving him the ball in the 9th with the Sox up by just 1 run
  7. Lets take a step away from Red Sox vs Yanks just for a sec Anyone else think the D-rays will not be the worst team but it will be in fact the Orioles?
  8. Givens to have a good season Mariano of course Myers will be a horse to get out lefties, but jacked if Torre leaves him against righties which I bet will happen. Small will be a solid middle relief/spot starter IF 05 wasnt a career fluke year for him, Ditto goes for Chacon who will be in the rotation Doubts --Farnsworth has long been known to not handle the high-pressure situations that good. Think playoffs, like recently against the Astros. --Villone is bound to be an Embree clone on your hands --yes its true but Im also putting Dotel down. He is not set to come back until June/July and is coming off of major shoulder surgery. --Sturtze will give the same 5+ ERA --Wright, a starter or relief he will still suck. Yankees made a bad signing so deal with it, it cant be passed off as moot or it was unexpected
  9. how is that a shot at us? Foulke is the only one listed in the Sox's bullpen who had an ERA above 4. ooh we're owned Anyways thats a weak comparison to do. "Here's a projection of the pitching staffs with their stats from last season. Which means what happened last year, 2006 will be an exact duplicate
  10. Why doesnt the 06 yankee projected rotation include Jaret Not-so-Wright? Even Yankee fans gotta admit that 3 year contract is as good as toilet paper
  11. Im not sure what team will exactly bring it when its time to play baseball, im in the "one game at a time mode" The AL East is now looking like a 3 headed monster of the Blue jays, yanks and Sox.
  12. mmhmm yeah like Im sure Theo will be like "Manny to the Yanks, big deal. Its only our biggest rival who we face 19 times." Andruw Jones to NY is a bigger possibility of Manny donning the stripes. I really dont see it happening, at this stage the front office is past the "waivers idea" and more delved into trade considerations since they can actually get something in return. As for 2006, he'll be here and will still give a 40/120+ season. Then the next offseason we'll be back to talking about him again.
  13. im not hoping he fails miserably really (dont get me wrong it would be cool since it would make us as the winners of not shelling out $$$), I do know however his batting avg will take a hit moving away from his cozy confines of Fenway to Babe Ruth's House
  14. mlbtraderumors.com Another one Im putting up in the air, no reason or space for the Sox to even consider taking on another 2nd baseman/shortstop
  15. Most notably during the pitcher's duel of Wakefield vs Johnson
  16. Still a stat that the Sox probably loved is that in 2005, against lefties he had hit .275 with a .350 OBP. Serviceable platoon partner to have until Gabe comes back, also considering that Trot still struggled hitting against the south paws. .223 avg, .333 OBP
  17. As for the Johnny Damon/Coco Crisp comparison. Here's one that speaks volume. Damon's First 4 seasons 47 games- (.282 avg) (.314 OBP) (.441 SLG) (.765 OPS) 3 Hrs, 23 RBIs 145 games- (.271 avg) (.313 OBP) (.368 SLG) (.680 OPS) 6 Hrs, 50 RBIs 146 games- (.275 avg) (.338 OBP) (.386 SLG) (.723 OPS) 8 Hrs, 48 RBIs 161 games- (.277 avg) (.339 OBP) (.439 SLG) (.779 OPS) 18 HRs. 66 RBIs Crisp's First 4 seasons 32 games- (.260 avg) (.314 OBP) (.386 SLG) (.700 OPS) 1 HR, 9 RBIs 99 games- (.266 avg) (.302 OBP) (.353 SLG) (.655 OPS) 3 Hrs, 27 RBIs 139 games- (.297 avg) (.344 OBP) (.446 SLG) (.790 OPS) 15 Hrs, 71 RBIs 145 games- (.300 avg) (.345 OBP) (.465 SLG) (.810 OPS) 16 Hrs, 69 RBIs
  18. A reason for no optimism if the Sox had the same pitching staff as they did last season, which they have upgraded on the staff especially if Paps is worked in there. Also Curt is set to have a much better season, he's now lost considerable weight. Less weight off of his previously injured ankle thing is reason for assurance. I dont think I should try and compared the 05 opening day bullpen to the 06. Its no comparison whatsoever. We still got the best 1-2 punch in baseball, as it stands an improved staff, deeper bullpen with young guns in the farm need be, and the defensive woes of recently being the 4th worst team should just be a memory. Our staff and defense last season allowed the 6 most runs, the other 5 were sub 500 teams. So I dont think my boys can be counted out so quickly 2 months before the first pitch is even thrown.
  19. I checked his spray chart and scouting reports. Must say it sounds good in our perspective. Like newcomers Lowell & Gonzalez, he is plain & simple a dead pull hitter where just about all of his doubles he's hit have been sent to left field.
  20. Maybe so but I wouldnt be surprised if the Orioles paid people to keep their name out of the mix since that wouldve been the 2nd straight turndown of a big offer, then taking another team's small offer. As it was for Paul Konerko. But hey they got Kris Benson :harhar: ah what the hell, he's gonna get lit up like a Christmas tree in the AL. especially the division
  21. I would only agree with the Sox's offense were to take a big hit if by some chance Manny is traded. That would be a shot to the stomach.
  22. Last I rant about Damon leaving, and you can quote me on this Earlier in the 2005 season Damon had said the same thing. He said to Red Sox fans that he could never think about going to New York, he loves Boston and the fans too much. Even if he were offered a lot more moeny, he wouldnt take it. For me that is what hurt the most, going back on his word like that. Ok Im done, said what I needed to say.
  23. So Sox fans are wrong, and you are the know-it-all. Give me a break dude. I can do it to As far as the bullpen, the only givens will be Mo, and Mike Myers who will be a horse to get out lefties. Small will be solid as long innings guy/spot starter. Only if 2005 wasnt a fluke career year for him BUT.. Farnsworth tightens up under the pressure of big games, Hello New York. Villone I see as another Embree on your hands. Dotel will be good once he comes back around the All Star Break coming off of shoulder surgery. Sturtze, enough said right there with the same 5+ ERA. Not-so-Wright in middle relief is still a risk since he's erratic at best and his shoulder is basically a painted target sign.
  24. as i say again, you havent had that much long tenured yankees (4 years or more) sign with the Red Sox. So you really dont know how it feels.
