  1. well Lowell being greedy leading off the 9th inning (youre down by 6, you stay at 2nd) f***ed up this inning. It could be a 6-2 or even 6-3 ball game with 1 out Good job Sox continue to spiral downward, any others calling us out to "keep the faith" this year?
  2. ooh, ahh, anyone would think that the makeshift Sox lineup could be able to beat up any pitcher.
  3. The Padres won 2-1 in David Wells' return, though he didnt factor in the decision. 6 innings, 5 Hits, 1 Run, 1 Walk, 2 Ks http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060903/capt.557a0c9fd3a041e8a26d913183d8b47a.reds_padres_baseball_cali103.jpg Offense Single in first AB & a sac bunt http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060903/capt.4b2dcf39a8924bf488fb50fb3d89c0b1.reds_padres_baseball_cali106.jpg The Padres' 2 runs came off of former Red Sox; sacrifice fly by Dave Roberts and a go-ahead RBI single by Josh Bard.
  4. Don Orsillo, i guess trying to give reason why offense & Beckett are so far sub-par today. That does explain on the other end with Chacin throwing a 1 hitter through 4 innings and his offense getting 3 runs off of Beckett with 5 hits (4 Doubles, HR)
  5. How's their rotation? Schilling (will miss start due to strained shoulder) Beckett Snyder Gabbard/Jarvis Tavarez (Wakefield keeps getting pushed back due to nagging back soreness) Papelbon, our star closer, is set to undergo an MRI. His season is in question. Mike Embree, oops I mean Timlin, will be the temp closer in his absence Do tell why the Sox traded away their best starter in the month of August, Mr. Boomer?
  6. Sorry he might be a former Red Sox, but Im not even close to rooting him on as a Yankee in the playoffs
  7. Theo asked for one of the Dodger's top 3 prospects (Kemp, LaRoche, and another). As Jsinger said Theo wouldve thrown a party at Fenway if the Dpdgers offered a LaRoche for Wells swap
  8. correction from NESN Wily Mo will in fact start today, Gonzo has also returned to today's lineup. Here's the official... Crisp cf Loretta 1b Lowell 3b Youkilis lf Pena dh Kapler rf Mirabelli c Pedroia 2b Gonzalez ss Oh and Trot said theyre going to try to get the team back in the post-season. Even Dennis Eckersley said he thinks its foolish to talk about the Sox & the playoffs this year.
  9. Wily Mo is set to retun to the lineup tomorrow, he could be available to pinch-hit today. Varitek, Trot, Gonzo are also in line to be activated tomorrow.
  10. updated stats, he should probably start off 2007 in Single A Greenville 22 appearances-- 0-1, 11 saves, 1.40 ERA 25.2 innings, 19 Hits, 10 Runs (4 ER), 3 Walks, 30 Ks
  11. seabeach fred, I have seen a good hanful of games at Pawtucket and I can tell you that Pedroia is best served playing 2nd. He does play a serviceable shortstop, but his range is best suited as a 2nd baseman. Personally I think it would be best to resign Gonzo. ----------------------- Anyways Im going to relay onto something that relates to what this thread was originally about updated stats 2-7, 3.16 ERA (15 starts) 74 innings, 64 Hits, 36 Runs (26 ER), 3 HRs, 39 Walks, 69 Ks
  12. I keep forgetting that this kid is still over a year away from turning 20 His first start with the Lowell Spinners 1-0, 3.00 ERA 6 innings, 4 Hits, 2 Runs, 2 Walks, 4 Ks
  13. How do you think the Sox are going to give Clement another chance? Clement was pitching in Wells' spot through the time poor Matty got a boo-boo and was horrendous. Worst ERA for any starting pitcher since All-Star Break of 2005 to time he got injured Sox cant trust him in any big game. 2nd half implosion pitcher, not a pitcher you want in the playoffs (worst start for any Sox pitcher in the ALDS anyone?). Clement was starting to make some progress in August, but Sox instead to shut him down. When reporters would ask about status of his coming back, Tito or Theo would quickly change subject Im sorry I just never have liked the signing of Clement, even during the hot start he had in Boston. It would be a joke if he were still in a Sox uni next season. All indications from papers I have read is that the Sox would be willing to buy out his contract if necessary. And you can count out hopes of getting Roy Oswalt. The Astros just resigned him to a 5 year/$73 million. The Blue Jays hardly would trade their best slugger to the rival Red Sox when they are trying to make themselves a playoff type team. IMO since its the Red Sox, J.P. Riccardi would ask for wayyy more than a package of Crisp, Hansen & Delcarmen
  14. who knew? A lineup without Ortiz, Manny, Wily Mo, Varitek & Trot cant win every day. A dominating effort by Burnett to beat a lackluster offense More good news So we have... Julian Tavarez vs Javier Vasquez Kason Gabbard vs Jon Garland Kyle Snyder vs Jose Contreras
  15. True but it was more of the pitching stepping up vs the Blue Jays than the erratic offense has been With each game that passes at Fenway, hostility in the crowd grows when Coco gets out
  16. Jerry Remy Yes Jerry, AJ is facing a Sox lineup without Ortiz, Manny, Varitek, Wily Mo Pena, & Trot... howww does he do it?
  17. He had a good read on the ball playing in absence of Coco but I think thew organization believes he could be manning right field as the starter in 2007. Coco's defense has really turned me off, how many extra base hits will he give away? I heard he has a good read on balls, but... (excluding several great catches) its been a bad scene Top free agent choices would be Matthews or Hunter (Twins are said to probably buy out his option year), but then have to think the Sox will just need a stop-gap center fielder with Ellsbury charging through the minor lerague system
  18. Yes agree, Wells & Dave Roberts are my only connections to that team but will be rooting for them if they make the playoffs
  19. they keep pushing him back, now im hearing (WEEI) that there is no timetable because his back is still bothering him. ---------------------- EDIT: Never thought Id hear this On Nesn has Jerry Remy saying that he sees Kyle Snyder as the 5th starter of the rotation next year
  20. Curt Schilling (will miss start, Lenny DiNardo will fill in vs the White Sox) Josh Beckett Kyle Snyder Kason Gabbard Kevin Jarvis Wakefield keeps getting pushed back, they might as well shut him down for the rest of the season.
  21. Gordon Edes, Nick Carfardo, Buster Olney, Tony Masarotti, and Ken Rosenthal have all said that the Sox still highly covet Lugo and will try to go hard for him this offseason.
  22. Add in Ortiz who just had an extended stay to watch over his heart palpitations, Manny missing more & more time due to his nagging hamstring/quad
  23. Boston Globe David Murphy has gotten the Sept 1 call-up, look for him to be in the starting lineup tomorrow to make his major league debut.
  24. Craig Breslow has been called up again, Id like to see this young lefty stay up permanently.
