  1. Injuries were the main cause for the Sox to freefall in the 2nd half. Now I am nowhere near counting the Sox out of the playoffs for 2007. On the free agent market for 07 the Sox are said to have high on their list: Julio Lugo, Matsuzaka, Jason Schmidt. They might also take a flyer on Eric Gagne to assure Papelbon is placed in the rotation which would really solidify the starting staff. There is other good relief pitchers they could get through trade & free agency, i.e. Justin Speier of the Blue Jays
  2. wow... clap, clap, clap youre judging him career on 2 games he played against Denver, now thats how to give a respectable assesment on a player
  3. While yes its great to have top notch receivers... Brady doesnt really have a #1 guy he always throws the ball to. Some gmaes it would be branch, some games it could be watson, some games it could be brown, hell some games he's throwing to his defense/offensive linemen. He spreads the ball to all points across the field, knowledgable quarterback is an understatement. Sorry it just bursts your bubble but Brady has made himself out to be a future HOF But eh keep drinking that kool-aid if you think he is average
  4. He could take a playoff spot only if a player is placed on the DL, right? This is surprising news to say the least, maybe they can get something good in return like they just did in the Wells trade
  5. Mike Lowell will also be entering his contract/age 35 season, whats the harm in acquiring a 29 year old pure sluggling 3rd baseman for 4 or 5 years? If said is actually possible, I can see Theo being crafty and still acquiring some good arms. Via trade like using Lowell as bait & using whats left of the available sources
  6. Tavarez wouldnt start the game today if Wells goes off to another team, RSR was just goofing around. DiNardo is the fallback option, still a lost game
  7. I hardly see the Sox presenting a 2/3 year deal to Loretta this offseason. Pedroia is known to have slow starts to the season/when he gets a promotion. Too early to say he needs more time in the minors
  8. 29 ABs, apparently thats enough to start complaining about a rookie's performance in his debut to the majors.
  9. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ mlbtraderumors, so of course take it with a grain of salt. Now he says his first choice is going to New York, but as we know both New York teams are pretty much set at 3rd base. A crapshoot dream for Sox to nab him yes, but that would be eventful.
  10. And that .233 avg is coming from a season worth of 64 ABs in Triple A Look at it this way Wells retires, Sox gets back a present he left in the toilet for them as he ends his HOF career playing for a sub.500 type team OR Wells ends his career with a possible playoff team, while the Sox get a top 100 prospect who still has time to hone his skills With Varitek's contract ending in 08, I dont think it would be 3 years of Kottaras being in Triple A
  11. Didnt you hear? If a rookie in his first couple of weeks doesnt produce the way he can, he is crap Impatient fans much?
  12. Maybe Im beating a dead horse here, so be it... taxes included the Sox would end up pyaing $27 million for the services of Abreu, thus taking away sources that can be better used to beef up the pitching staff
  13. ESPN's Buster Olney has reported that the Sox & Padres (they love making trades with one another), are closing in on a Wells trade The Sox have targeted Triple A catcher George Kottaras http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2566883 His profile http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/546236 Yes please
  14. Doug you hold no merit arguing that those calls were not strikes, even though they fell down right into the zone. 184 hitters wont get any respect from umpires
  15. Pedroia is a natural 2nd baseman, I know I wont be slapped in the face if I see Gonzo resigned and Pedroia being given the starting 2b slot
  16. even if the Sox made the playoffs and Ortiz was able to put up 58 HRs/145+ RBIs, it just wouldnt matter... majority of baseball writers look down at Ortiz as a utility guy who doesnt deserve to have an MVP award
  17. I remember him also brushing aside the edgar renteria to Braves "rumor"
  18. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5918766 The Mets are talking with the Rockies about infield help in the form of Luis Gonzalez. Id like the Sox to try & talk with them about Loretta, a definite upgrade over Gonzalez
  19. Wishful thinking much They have one of the best schedules this season, still have the future HOF Tom Brady, future HOF Bill Belichick, oh and they play in the "tough" AFC East oh my
  20. And put him in Boston, he would cost the Sox altogether $27 million with taxes included... hence taking away money they could use on beefing up the pitching staff, have to look long term
  21. Ken Rosenthal reported this an hour ago
  22. And the villagers rejoiced, "yayyy"
  23. Good Im glad to hear this, Wells deserves to be on a playoff team before he closes the door on his career. How about chance of him going to the Twins? A top 3 of Santana, Liriano & Wells in the playoffs sounds very good
