  1. Interesting tidbit from the Slidingintohome blog..
  2. I'll take it. What a game!!!! We got some breaks, missed some opportunities, made some mistakes, got some big hits, and all in all it turns out to be another big win in the Bronx! We're bout ready to close the doors on the Metrodome (....well, for baseball at least)!
  3. Wow what a game. I can't believe how long Leyland let Rodney go, that was a great performance up until the 12th. Unheard of for a closer to go that long. All in all a great game and a great conclusion to an AL Central race this year. I'm just glad they had to grind it out all the way to the end. I hope the Twins enjoy their flight and don't get checked into their hotel into late late tonight. Bring 'em on!
  4. Well there's been a lot of debate over the past week about who the Yankees would take, if they would take 10 pitchers, 3 catchers, both Gardner and Guzman, etc. I had just read an article on another board and posted that roster, and decided to post it here as well. It seems very likely that they will carry both Gardner and Guzman, which I dont think is a bad idea as it gives you more opportunities to pinch-run late in a close game. But the possibility still very much remains that they will carry Cervelli as well. If that is the case the casualty would be one of the pitchers, as they would probably just go with 10 and keep the depth on the bench.
  5. Well now that the season has ended, and I'm going to post what MY postseason roster would look like. 11 Pitchers: Sabathia, Burnett, Pettitte, Gaudin, Joba, Coke, Aceves, Marte, Robertson, Hughes, Mo 2 Catchers: Posada & Molina 5 Infielders: Cano, Hairston, Jeter, A-Rod, Teixeira 7 Outfielders/DH: Damon, Melky, Swisher, Gardner, Matsui, Hinske, Guzman 25 guys, bam. You have depth, talent, and versatility up and down the roster.
  6. Oh my bad hahaha.....woops.
  7. While I agree with that, last night wasn't the time to do that. Rivera just pitched 2 games in a row, why put him out there again last night for more than in inning? Tonight I would have no objections though.
  8. Well considering we won 9 of the last 10 it would be pretty awesome.
  9. All the way here? You act is if I traveled far and wide...it only took a few pushes of a button. I wasn't gonna rub it in since we're both postseason bound, but since your such a sore loser and a self-proclaimed "douche" how does it feel being the first team EVER to win the first 8 games against an opponent and not win the season series?
  10. Someone's bitter
  11. Damn I need a combined 18 runs tomorrow to win. Here's to hoping for quite the blowout.
  12. Well if hairston's injury is serious, replace him with Marte, as Pena is already on my roster. In the playioffs there really isn't much need for 2 backup infielders. I think gaudin has definitely earned a spot, so I would keep both him and Joba, and have the two lefties at the expense of either Hairston or Robertson. Can anyone comment on my question of eligibility? The only way I see some of these guys that have been mentioned being eligible is if Hairston or Robertson were to land on the DL.
  13. You never wanna see someone get hurt, especially a pitcher taking a liner off the bat (Bryce Florie anybody?)....but I like our chances in the postseason a whole lot more now that Lester may be out. I wish him a full recovery, just not a speedy one
  14. I think Gaudin makes it. I've heard that the possibility that they carry 11 pitchers still remains, despite what Cashman said, but I have to assume for the first round they just take 10. This is what I would go with right now... Posada Molina Teixeira Hinske Cano Hairston Jeter A-Rod Damon Matsui Melky Swisher Gardner Guzman (Well I wouldnt take Guzman, but I assume they will) Pena (Although I think cervelli is very deserving. But carrying 3 catchers takes away from depth in other areas on the bench, and is highly unlikely. Although if they did carry a third catcher, Girardi would be more likely to use Guzman or Gardner as a pinch runner late in the game for Posada or Molina when the situation calls for it). That's 15 position players, here are my 10 pitchers. Sabathia Burnett Pettitte Joba Gaudin Hughes Robertson (If he's not healthy I would go with Marte) Coke Aceves Rivera With all the talk about the possibility of guys like Pena, Duncan, Cervelli, Guzman, etc. being added to the postseason roster I'm still a little confused. There haven't been any injuries of late to qualify these guys for eligibility on the postseason roster. None of them were on the roster by August 31st, so there must be some kind of loophole. Can anyone clear this up?
  15. Who ever said anything about the playoffs? There is no WAY Kennedy pitches in the playoffs. He's headed right to the AFL.
  16. Don't cry Pop.
  17. If that is the case I think a lot of it would have to do with the mental aspect of Joba's game, as Jacko said. The organization has been so strict with drilling into him these limits and their future pans and how they want him to develop properly. I think it might have to do with the fact that he might feel if he throws his hardest fastball consistently he could wear out quicker and be less able to go deep into games....or something along those lines. That's just my guess. But I absolutely agree 100% that his struggles are mental rather than medical.
  18. Uhhh....actually I was following them, as I follow all teams regularly. So don't try to tell me what I was and wasn't doing. I just didn't have a preference, that's all. Of course I was interested. Now that it's pretty clear you guys are headed to the postseason it would be very rewarding to beat you on the way to #27, but it would have also been very rewarding to watch you miss the postseason, that way you could take all the heat we got last year. But like I said I didn't care much either way, all I can really worry about is what MY team is doing. So stop trying to act like you can read my mind grandpa, because you can't.
  19. Well we're just gonna have to hope for the best, huh?
  20. I would like to see them go far honestly. I have no preference between them, the Dodgers, and the Cardinals. There are things I like about all 3 of those teams. In the Rockies case I would love to see Giambi get another shot at a ring, I like a lot of the guys they have, and as much as I like Clint Hurdle Jim Tracy deserves a lot of credit. As for the Dodgers I love Torre, love Mattingly and would love to see him get his first ring, and love guys like Russell Martin and Matt Kemp. Not to mention I've always had a soft spot for the Cardinals since rooting for Ozzie Smith and adopting him as my all-time favorite player after seeing him do backflips in 1995 when I was a wee-little tee-ball player playing on a team called the Cardinals with our ghetto red t-shirts and StL caps. I think it's gonna be a good October.
  21. Probably doesn't guarantee anything though. I see your point, but I guess that's the difference between me and you. I'll take my chances with the best relief pitcher in the history of the game before I put the winning run on base in the form of someone who can run a mile in 13 seconds.
