OK so before everyone gets on me I want to say that upon initially reviewing the video, I thought it was pretty goddamn clear that Mo spit on the ball. Fine. I'm not condoning it, but I certainly don't hold it to the same level of "cheating" as I do PED use and such, some of the best pitchers in baseball history doctored the ball. And anyone who is friends with me on facebook can confirm that I even posted a video of the incidend with the headline "We got Mo out there throwin spitters," or something to that effect. But Fox showed a still shot last night that clearly showed the lugi (sp?) in front of the baseball. You could see for sure that the spit did NOT touch the ball. I haven't been able to find the still shot that they showed, but I'll keep looking. Otherwise I am aware I'm going to take a beating here as a Yankee lover who is just defending a Yankee. Call it what you want but I know what I saw, and admit to initially thinking he spit on the ball. Besides, his pitch doesn't have enough movement to be a spitter, or doctored in any way.
So take it how you want, there is no way Rivera spit on the ball. Selig and Scoisca both agreed.
