  1. The '86 Sox might have been underdogs, but they were one out away from clinching with a 3-2 lead. The pena decision makes no sense to me. You're replacing an outfielder with an infielder. Not to mention, Gardner; who is our late inning pinch runner, has to replace Melky in the lineup. Wouldn't it make sense to replace Gardner on the bench with another speedy outfielder who can pinch-run late in games? That was the dumbest point I've ever seen somebody make. Just because our top lineup didnt hit the guy too well in game 1, our chances are improved now that we have an inferior lineup out there?
  2. What do you mean, to me Melky is like the modern day equivalent to Joe D!
  3. Oh and if anyone hasn't heard, Melky is probably out for the remainder of the series, and they are petitioning to replace him on the roster with either Freddy Guzman, Ramiro Pena, or Francisco Cervelli. With Burnett, Molina and Gardner in there tonight, and with the absence of Posada and matsui, this is easily the worst lineup we've put out there all postseason.
  4. Wow Spudboy, that was almost sad.
  5. lol I think the distinction of biggest World Series chokers will forever belong to the 1986 Boston Red Sox. Just my opinion
  6. I give Pedro the edge because Andy's pitching on 3 days rest, something that he does not do very well. I think the fact that all of our starters the rest of the way are going on 3 days rest is being very downplayed, and is an advantage to the Phillies. Hopefully it doesn't prove to be too big an issue and we can wrap this up relatively soon.
  7. I busted out LOLing when I opened the link. That's too funny!
  8. Lets be fair, even though he was awful when he was healthy and didnt pitch much at all, we should still get credit for Wang, who as I recall was the winningest pitcher in baseball from '05-'08. Also, Coke and Robertson have been pretty huge for us out of the pen.
  9. That's awesome. The best part about winterball is you never know who your going to see on the rosters. Sometimes it's quite surprising.
  10. Damn bro, that sucks!
  11. Here we go boys, I'm pumped!!
  12. Between Rollins, Pedro, and everyone else in that clubhouse the Phillies sure are doing a lot of talking. They need to start worrying about playing the game between the the white lines rather than what people in the media think. All the s***-talking they're doing is only going to make a World Series win even sweeter.
  13. Of the World Series in my lifetime I have to go with 2001, even though we were on the losing end. If I were to formulate a top 10 all-time (not including the "World's Series" prior to 1903 between the NL and AA, although there were some good ones there) it would be... 2001 1991 1924 1975 1960 1986 1977 1964 1926 1940
  14. I love how we have a bunch of degenerate gamblers on the board lol. I need to find me some bookies that way I can join you guys in gamblers anonymous. No sarcasm, I'm dead ass serious lol.
  15. According to Heyman Chapman was at Game 6 as a guest of the Yankees. I'm sure he liked what he saw and I'm guessing that could sway him a bit http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/10/25/chapman.yankees/
  16. Jay-Z will be performing with Alicia Keys prior to Game 1. That's pretty sick.
  17. Good...I f***ing hate Phillips anyway.
  18. What are you charging, about 10 grand a pop?
  19. Ballgame over, American League Championship Series over, Yankees Win, THUUUUUUUUUUUUHH YANKEES WIN! Bring on Philly!
  20. God damnit!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Anyone notice that a lot of the Yankees aren't wearing the hats with the inaugural season patch on the back tonight? Odd...
