I am very surprised we didnt place a claim on Clemens.

So let me get this straight, you are not on steroids unless you have a huge Home Run increase from month to month? So that means that Canseco, McGwire, Palmeiro, Bonds, etc have not taken steroids. Whose to say that someone like Roberts isnt using, not that I thihnk Roberts is but hes been a platoon player with Jerry hairston his entire career and at the start of this year he looked like Mickey Mantle. Let me reitterate that I do not believe Roberts uses steroids. Now Tejada on the other hand, is a player I believe could have taken them. Canseco did say that Tejada was asking about them in Spring Training one year when he was still in the minors, which could explain why he was hot out of the gate, because he got all the other stuff out of the way in the minors. So please lets not single out Yankees when there are plenty of other players who could be taing them as well.

GODDAM...2 players have admitted to using to a grand jury. And one was because of medical reasons. We're having a bad year due to unjury. The same thing that plagued the Red Sox for the first half last year which caused them to play .500 ball until the end of July. Guybo---So because Clemns was a Yankee you think he used steroids? The Yankees are the classiest, most respected franchise in sports history, they would not condone this s***. Lets not forget Roger was a Red Sock too, I could easily just point my finger at all of your players, but im not going to because its not fair.

how do you know....and why dont you listen to some talk radio that isnt as biased as WEEI, listen to ESPN Radio or something and you will hear all of the non-yankee fans who think it is ludicrous that he would use again. You have to remember, he didnt get much time to work in the offseason due to his tumor and parasite, and he missed about 3/4 of last season, he needed time to work nd recover. Which is what hes been doing all season until july. He has been trying to work off all of the rust from last season. Why dont you give this guy a break and just acknowledge that it is a great story of triumph over adversity.

bobby jr. i have to agree with Yankydave, a lot of the things he said about you are becoming appearant. You seem to be out to get the Yankees. Lets straighten a few things up. How cna you say A-Rod, Clemens, or Mo are likely candidates of testing positive because of the rumors on this board. All of the names we're throwing out are just pure speculation. An Oriole has as much a chance of testing positive as a Yankee. The only Yankee to take steroids this year is AA Trenton Thunder, and former Mets pitcher Grant Roberts, and he tested positive when he was still in the Mets organization (which lead to his release and us signing him). And Giambi DID NOT deny using them after the grand jury testimony was leaked, he appologized but did not specify what for. But still. he would be stupid to take them this year, so I think all of you need to drop that. He cares too much about his image and appealing to people. He hates disapproval, and would not take steroids again. So far the only 1B in the AL East to test positive is playing for your team. So Bobby, worry about your own team and leave us out of your thoughts for now until you're out of 4th place.

so thats not cheating is it, he did it for injury, not to gain size or strength. And there is no certainty that Barry's use was limited to cream.

if anyone has ESPN Insider, former Met's GM Steve Phillips recebtly wrote an article explaining the waiver process in detail. I dont have insider so i havent read it and cant post it, if anybody does, please post it.

correct. If he clears then he can be traded to any team, but if hes claimed, he can be withdrawn, but negotiations can still take place for a trade between the team that placed the player on waivers and the team that claimed him. They can put him on waivers again after they "pull him back", but they do not have the ability to pull back again meaning that the team that claims him, gets him. I find it hard to believe that George would let Clemens get past the Yankees and give Boston the opprotunity to claim him. But I also find it odd that we didnt claim Griffey, but we really didnt, so you never know. Most teams place all or most of their players on waivers during the waiver period, just out of curiosity of who would claim them, not necessarily to trade them. I can guarantee you that neither Clemens or Pettitte will be traded (unless they lose all of their games from now until the August 31st deadline, and Washington , or any of the other teams in the race, wins all of their game.). But if one of them were, it would be Clemens, because odds are that Roger comes back next year with Houston, and why not, he wouldhave his son in spring training, hes argueably the best pitcher in the majors, hes pitching in his hometown, etc. But if they traded both, or just Pettitte, its HIGHLY unlikely Clemens will re-sign next year.

Hes a Free Agent, he wouldnt have to be fired. Honestly, these rumors have been going around forever, the one thats been flying around is him going to Washington. I honestly think hes going to be back. Since he was a kid hes had something to do with the Yankee organization, he was an intern in the late 80's, hes been here forever. He is the voice of reason in the organization. The only way Torre gets fired is if he isnt back, because if he is he'll talk Steinbrenner out of it. nobody can talk George out of something better than Cash. Now i certainly hope he doesnt go, I know that all of you guys dont give him any credit because of the budget, but he truly is a remarkable GM. He has always made good deals at good time (David Justice, Jose Vizcaino, and the A-Rod deal was fantastic, he got it done so quickly, and it was a pretty complex deal with all the negotiating concerning the money and the deferring of the money, and how much the Rangers would pay). And of coarse he has made bad trades, but who hasnt. If you look at his recent bad trades they were Javy Vasquez and Jeff Weaver (im not gonna throw RJ in there yet), and nobody could have predicted that they would be that bad, but if you remember the trades, he was praised when they happened. For god's sake he traded Ted Lilly, who at the time was a long reliever, for someone who was projected to be an ace/borderline Hall of Famer. His wife said that just to stir s*** up, he would never say that and im SURE that he has no desire to be in the Boston organization. To sum it all up, I would be very surprised if Brian Cashman isnt the Yankee GM next year. Dont get me wrong, im not sayin that George wont go on a rampage and just fire people, but I would be shocked. BTW smb998, He isnt the longest tenured GM of all time, im pretty sure that there were others, off the top of my head Ed Barrow. But he might be the longest tenured GM under Steinbrenner.

so because they dont publicly say someone has passed that means that they failed? I never heard the say anything about Jeter, or Manny, or Ichiro, or Varitek passing, so that must mean theyre on juice

whatever happened to that LL pitcher, danny almonte
26 to 6 replied to yankeessuck013's topic in Other Baseball
his dad moved him to Florida (better competition) and now hes playin for a team called the Florida Bombers. He will be eligible for next years draft, I would be shocked if he didnt go to the Yankees. How can you say he's overrated, yea in the LLWS he might have been, but what about his last 3 years, his team made it to the city finals every year, and hes lead the way. I cant say hes overrated, because hes been very good the last few years, but we'll see for sure as he gets drafted next year. -
Very Stupid

I'd say there's a good chance that at some point in your life you will take a medicine thats ingrediants contain a steroid...and you wont even know it.

Everett Blasts from Past about red sox
26 to 6 replied to yankeessuck013's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
You guys seem to forget how productive he was for you. Granted, he was a pain in the ass, I will always remember him for getting ejected at family day at Fenway Park for cursing at the umps, but the one sight that I will always see in my mind when I think of or hear the name Carl Everett is that little blooper falling into left field with 2 strikes and 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th inning, breaking up Mike Mussina's perfect game Anyone remember that game where he flipped off the pitcher after hitting a Home Run? haha Carl just needs to shut up, hes on the best team in baseball, thats what he should be focused on, not the Sox racist past. -
we still think of him as a Yankee
-
he still has power, just not having the same kind of year he had last year. Everybody expects him to be like Barry Bonds because thats how he was in Japan, its not going to happen, doesnt mean hes on steroids. If he went back to Japan today he'd be the same home run threat he used to be. There is no doubt in my mind that Matsui is clean, the thought never ever crossed my mind until I saw it here. goddam...he riubbed a f***in cream on his leg. I doubt that incrreased his power or anything. Not all steroids make you big and strong.

I dont know if any of you have All Star Baseball 2004 and/or 2005 (that was my favorite baseball game franchise before Acclaim went down) but they have the future stadiums in the game, and the A's ballpark was pretty nice, as was the hotel. Obviously the plans might be a little different now, as when the games were made they used the most recent stadium proposals (i.e. the Yankee and Shea Stadiums that were proposed by Mayor Giuliani, the proposed Fenway before they signed on to stay in the current one, etc..), but if the stadium looks anything like the one in the game, then thats definately a plus. Personally, I think one Bay Area team is enough, which is why I was hoping Reggie's bid would get the A's (he actually bid more, but the winners were friends of Selig's. He has a tendancy to award the teams to friends/associates of his, regardless of if there are any higher bids. Like Henry getting the Sox.) and then he could have moved them to Vegas as he planned, but with the popularity that is going to arise with this new stadium, then I think 2 teams could wor for the Bay Area.

he also plays 3rd base

i doubt Ichiro or Matsui are using, Matsui has always been a big hitter, even when he was a skinny kid starting out with the Yomiuri Giants. And from what I know, steroids are pretty much NEVER talked about over there. If a japanese player (i mean one who was established, not one who came oevr after struggling there, i.e. the Mac Suzuki's of the world, even though he is no longer i nAmerican Affiliated baseball) tested positive i would be more than shocked. I couldnt even find the word to describe the state that I would be in. I wonder if there is a list of all the people who have tested positive so far this year. I know that there have been about 20 Major Leaguers (40 Man or 25 Man roster) and over 100 minor leaguers.

you often complain about Torre and Mel. What would you like, do you want Joe to go out there and be a battery mate with Mel. Is that the relief tandem you're looking for. It is not Mel's fault that most of the pitching staff has been bad this year. A good percentage of players who have played under Mel say he is a fabulous pitching coach. Looj what he's done with Chacon and Small. Wheres the credit for that? Granted, Torre wore the pen down last year, but had no choice, he got burned every time he brought someone in other than Sturtze, Quantrill, Grodon, or Rivera. The same applies this year, he has gotten burned with everyone else. He's doing the best he can. And though I dont agree with him when he left Embree in, had Rodriguez, Gordon, Sturtze, or Rivera given up the home run he would have got burned and everyone would have said "It's because you're waring them down", "Why didnt you bring in a lefty, Konerko's numbers against lefties arent as good as against righties", etc. Hes in a no-win spot every time. No matter whose on the mound, if we lose, he is always going to be second guessed. So I am curious, since you are always criticizing Torre and Mel, how would you run the pitching staff?

so when are names supposed to be announced, havent heard ANYTHING concerning steroids so far today.

I usually hate most Boston teams, though i did find myself rooting for the Celtics last year after they got Walker. And I like BC Football because the first football game I went to was a BC/Notre Dame game, back in like 97 or 98 (dont remember for sure, coulda been 99 as well). My godfather's son went there and he worked in the ticket office and always got free tickets, so we went up there one weekend. I also like ALL NY teams, im not the kind of Yankee fan who hates the Mets, im not the kind of Jets fan who hates the Giants, imno the kind of Knicks fan who hates the Nets, etc. So my favorite teams are liated below, the teams Bolded are my absolute favorites. Yankees Mets Jets Giants Knicks Nets Islanders Rangers Fordham Basketball Manhatten College Basketball St. Johns Basketball Staten Island Yankees Brooklyn Cyclones I dont have a favorite College Football team, I follow BC, but i wouldnt say they are my favorite, im just a casual Football fan. Im pretty much a casual everything fan except for Baseball. I love Baseball and always have. The sport that i like closest to baseball is Basketball. I follow football, but like I said im not one of the hardcore fans who watches every minute of every game (though i usually watch a good portion) or watches NFL Live or NYFS or any of those football shows. I pretty much hate Hockey, but one of my best friends is a Rangers fan, so he got me somewhat interested in it, i rarely watch it, but I do root for the local teams (exceot the Devils, I hate the Devils) and watching a little bit of some of the games. (I chose the Islanders just to piss him off, though hes a Met fan, he feels the same way about the Yankees as I so about the Mets, follows them closely and roots for them as long as they are not playing each other, so this is the only team that I like that he HATES). Of Coarse being the huge baseball buff that I am, i follow the local minor league teams pretty closely as well.

me too!! ...gotta get them early though because whenever i try to gets tix for a good Boston game they always sold out....you and your small ballpark i'd like to try and make it up for a Yankees series as well as I have only been up there for a Sox/Yanks game once.
