  1. I feel exactly how you do...its unbelieveable how many people jumped on the RS bandwagon after 2003 (thats when their whole sympathy thing began and they started to emerge into "America's Team" by making us "The Evil Empire") and especially after last year. And like you said PP, we as Yankee fans know a thing or 2 about bandwagoners, and as a Yankee fan for my entire life (went to my first game in 1992) I hated the "fans" of the Yankees that only became fans after we started winning again. Like even still today I cant stand it. Example, Yesterday I was hanging out with 2 of my friends, and my friend's sister had a friend over, and she commented "Mets Suck" because my other friend was wearing a Mets hat. This 13 year old girl who knew nothing about baseball said that only because the Mets were not the ones to win 4 Championships and 6 Pennants over an 8 year span. Point being, true fans of a team usually dont like bandwagoners. In the Red Sox case its unbelieveable the overwhelming number of bandwagoners who act like the history of the Red Sox dates back to 2003. There are so many fans who know nothing about the Sox pre-2003, and those people are usually the "fans" from Oregon, Nevada, Illinois, Ohio, South Carolina, Florida, Oklahoma, etc. And its the same with the Yankees, majority of the fans outside of NY (except maybe Tampa, just due to the fact that the Yankees are sort of based out of Tampa) who arent from NY are frontrunners (I said majority of the people, not all of the people)....And its the same with the Red Sox. Well I can spend hours discussing my dislike for frontrunners but i think ill conclude now
  2. I cried in 2001 right after the ball left Gonzo's bat (and I still cry when I see it...hardest loss in my entire life), I cried in 2002 when we lost to the Angels (being so used to winning and having that happen kicked in a sense of reality that I wasnt used to), and I cried last year when the Sox won the World Series (not when they won the ALCS, my emotions following that are rather difficult to describe).
  3. That is EXACTLY true, and it always has. I thought the reason in years past was simply because of their lack of success and a bit of jealousy (its not a knock on Sox fans...anyone would be jealous, i would just imagine that Sox fans would take the jealousy to another degree being that we are your rivals), but now after they won i think its because they (and they're 6 championships) feel superior to us (and our 26 championships) and they want to rub it in. BTW...I thought it was very interesting when I read that you guys actually have more players who were not home grown...just an example of the ignorance of Red Sox nation because of how they're always telling us that we never produce our own players and always buy our players.
  4. YES Boards dont count...those are stupid, hypocritical, unknowledgabe, bandwagon, fake, know-nothings
  5. no...the statement said they have no intention of picking up his option for 2006...a smart move because he is not worth the money that picking up that option would pay him. As far as bernie is concerned, the ball is in his court this offseason as to if he wants to return. It is a given that we will be shopping for a durable, reliable Center Fielder...something that Bernie no longer is. If Bernie wants back he would not be the every day Center Fielder. He just cant do it, maybe a few days a week he can do, but then that would be wasting money on the CF we sign in the offseason. So if Bernie wants to come back he will play CF occasionally to spell the regular CFer a day off. Other than that Bernie would share time with Ruben and Giambi alternating at DH (I expect Jason to play more 1B than DH next year, as thats how its playing out now. But he will obviously get a few days here and there at the DH spot to A. give Tino some playing time, if he doesnt retire; or B. give his body a rest) and coming off the bench. An interesting scenario if we dont get a CFer would to have Melky come up next year and platoon him with Bernie for his rookie season (for the life of me I dont understand why we havent called him up for September.)
  6. you're crazy if you dont want Damon. Who would you prefer..an un-seasoned Mely Cabrera? Bubba Crosby? Matt Lawton? Kevin Thompson? Bernie? Please enlighten me. Damon is argueably the best Center Fielder in the game..and by chance, a good center fielder is EXACTLY what we need. And another added bonus is that he's a leadoff man, and if we got Damon, who would hit leadiff, we could move Jeet back to the 2 hole where he has spent an overwhelming majority of his career.
  7. anybody who thinks the Yankees are done is insane. You people, above any, should know that we're not done. The Sox were in a similar spot at this point last year..actually i think they were farther out. Still plenty of baseball to be played....the division race isnt over...and if we cant come through there we compete with Cleveland and Oakland for the WC.
  8. You need to quickly analyze things before you talk about them...Chad has been fine so far...no problems. But I agree, I think Eli still has to prove he is a quality QB
  9. Not one of those players you mentioned there came from the Yankees system. Brosious came from Oakland, Tino came from Seattle, and Paulie came from Cincy.
  10. ditto
  11. you interpret things in a strange way...he said the Pats get BREAKS. Its still early in his career so its hard to determine at this stage...but Tom Brady has a chance. He's already among the elite QB's in the game right now
  12. but if Giambi and Bonds had no problem admitting steroid use in their testimony then why would Sheffield. And why would he admit to using the cream on his knee, if he was going to lie he would have probably denied any type of steroid use whatsoever. Is it that hard to accept the fact that it is possible for someone who wears pinstripes to be a good player without the aid of performance enhancing drugs?
  13. I dont know about the best football team EVER, definately of the last 5 years, but not by any stretch of the imagination are they the best team ever Football and Baseball arecompletely different, its not fair to compare the way the Yankees do business to the way the Pats do business due to the way each sport is run. Salary Cap, luxury tax, draft, player availability, player development, etc, etc, etc...
  14. are these stats from 2002, and where are these stats coming from? Was he playing in a league in Cuba, are these based on international competition, etc?
  15. that would be great to help the popularity of the sport over there...but it does seem kind of odd to me
  16. you guys just dont know how to handle winning, do you?? j/p
  17. IM really tired of this Sheffield stuff...both Giambi and Bonds admitted to using steroids to a grand jury, and to the same grand jury Sheffield admitted to using the cream containing steroids on his knee ONCE. Why would he commit perjury when nobody outside of the courtroom was going to know what was said (at least thats how it was supposed to go, but of coarse as we all know the testimony was leaked to the SF Chronicle). Why would he risk doing time for a felony by lying about that??
  18. I wouldnt be surprised by this, and I think it would be a great move for Sammy and benefit NPB very much. As someone who follows Japanese Baseball and roots for Chiba and Yomiuri, I DEFINATELY wouldn't mind having Sammy team up with Benny Agbayani on the Marines or Tuffy Rhodes and Toshihisa Nishi on the Giants...god knows they need something. I also think Sammy would be a monster over there.
  19. good question
  20. I was hoping we (Jets) would get Price...but Arod is right on the Chrebet point
  21. when I read the release it said that he violated the MLB drug use and treatment policy, so I wasnt sure if it was steroids or if he was using drugs (weed, cocaine, etc.). But good thing thats all cleared up for me. This guy was having a pretty good year, and was even mentioned in a few ROY conversations. Too bad for him. I just hope this isnt the "big name"
  22. all I know about Dale is that he's a pretty bad 3B coach...even worse than Sojo (who really isnt that bad, but does have his bad nights). But hey, if it gets the Pirates winning then they should go for it.
  23. I just had surgery on friday and since I couldnt go out or anything I spent 3 days making my own message board...brand new, only like 3 or 4 members...its http://www.yankeechat.tk ...but for a few people, that link didnt work, so i posted the direct link in my sig
  24. hey, if I made jokes insulting the Red Sox, EVERY SINGLE ONE of you guys would be on my ass
