  1. I don't know if this is where you got some of that listing of players from, but here is the Red Sox draft picks from 1965 onward, sorted out by year: http://www.soxprospects.com/dh9265.htm
  2. Good stuff, jsinger.
  3. WHAT? NO! KEEP A-ROD! PLEASE! http://www.singaporesoxfan.com/photos/arod-bobble.jpg
  4. I just read all the posts on that thread, YanksHater213. I think it's time for all those who post here to stop being so negative. I am probably as guilty as anyone by making statements such as "It's very likely the Sox won't make the playoffs" and garbage like that. Who cares if it doesn't look like they are built for the playoffs and have a long way to go? Let's try to keep a positive attitude on here, atleast. There is no point in tearing each other apart because of the five game set against the Yankees. LET'S GO RED SOX! BEAT THE HALOS!
  5. Did NESN give any update about Varitek, by chance? The last time I heard, he was making the trip to the west coast, but is still about a week and a half away from coming back.
  6. C'mon guys, the real enemy here is the Yankees. We all have differing views about the Red Sox and the best ways to improve the team. http://www.bostonska.com/Laurel_sez2.jpg
  7. Thank you, One Red Seat. http://www.georgeweststoryfest.org/applaud.jpg http://www.now.org/images/nnt/200211/ovation.jpg http://www.uthscsa.edu/opa/presaward2004/eventimages/51.jpg
  8. Can we just lock this thread? What Theo has done is Boston has been great. I can't wait to see what guys like Hansen, Lester, Delcarmen, Papelbon, Van Buren, ect. do for us over the next several years. As far as this year goes, it's not over yet. We are still in the playoff race, even with the way we have played lately. It's not Theo's fault that guys like Nixon, Wake and Varitek get injured, either. In my eyes, he's done a pretty good job going out and getting players to fill those holes.
  9. Jeter's no MVP. Simmer down, FOX.
  10. I am starting to like Jon_Papelboner's idiotic idea of beaning Damon.
  11. Seanez was DFA'd? I did not realize that.
  12. I don't understand why Lopez catches Beckett if they have had trouble in the past.
  13. Damn, no runs in the first. Put Melky in center!
  14. Papi's been fantastic when he's played first base. I'll take him anyday over Sunshine Wilson and HGH Giambi. P.S. I don't know why you're talking about defense. Defensively, your infield is a piece of s***.
  15. Maybe the mods are trying to promote diversity on here. I have no clue.
  16. Last time I saw the Jimmy Fund reached it's $2.6M goal, but does anyone know what the latest/final total has come out to?
  17. Eh, I don't know about hitting Damon. That would probably just fire up the Yankees, meaning that New York would find a way to score more than 14 runs. First priority is realizing "today is a new day, and there are still three games left."
  18. Game One: Johnson -- Who cares, DFA'd Snyder -- 2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER Delcarmen -- 1.1 IP, 3 H, 1 BB Seanez -- 1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 4 BB Game Two: Lester -- 3.2 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 3 BB Tavarez -- 2.1 IP, 2 H, 1 BB Hansen -- 0.1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 1 BB Timlin -- 0.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 1 BB Foulke -- 2.0 IP, 1 H, 2 BB It is embarrassing to think I thought this pitching staff could get us into the playoffs. Besides Foulke, Tavarez and possibly Delcarmen, no one was worth a damn today. We have the better starters going over the next three days, but who says the bullpen will hold the lead. It's hard to imagine that over an eight hour span today I watched the Yankees pound out 36 runs on 34 hits. Get it together, Sox.
  19. Well, that is an AP story. I don't know what the point was in dragging Brady's name into it, though.
  20. I thought Clement was expected to come back sometime during September. I still believe he can put together atleast one or two quality starts. There is no reason for us to lose the three game series' against the White Sox and Twins at home. Splitting the four game series' at New York and at Toronto (if not taking one series) is likely. Also, our final five games are home games against Tampa Bay then Baltimore.
  21. I agree. I have a lot of family from Detroit who root for the Tigers through thick and thin. Tigers fans deserve one. It was nice listening to David Dombrowski talk about the success the Tigers have had this morning on WEEI.
  22. There is still a lot of baseball left to be played. As poorly as we have played lately and as much as I want to choose 'Sox miss playoffs', I believe we will find a way in for two main reasons: 1) We will be getting players back. As far as I have heard Clement, Foulke, Wakefield, Varitek and Nixon will all be healthy by seasons end. Wake gives us a chance to win everytime out there. Nixon (for the most part) knows how to play right field. Varitek is a huge presence on the field and is the leader of this team. I expect some quality starts from Clement. Who knows what we will get from Foulke. 2) The schedule will still be in our favor. We still have six games against Baltimore (three at home; three on the road), three games against KC at home, four against Toronto at home, three at Seattle and two at home against Tampa Bay. Overall, counting tonights game against Detroit we have 24 of the final 44 games at Fenway. Clearly, we are a better ballclub than the month of August has shown. The Red Sox will get back to winning series' again. Keep the faith in this team. Don't write them off just yet.
