  1. well there is your first problem, you drafted him. soriano is garbage in any "real" league, a league which incorporates OBP and K's (negative scoring). how could you not expect him to have a s*** year? he's moving from a high school park to RFK. his splits have been terrible since joining texas. example of soriano splits: home BA: 330 away BA: 220 home OBP: 350 away OBP: .260 home HR: 25 away HR: 10 he batted in one of baseballs most potent lineups... he'll be god awful in RFK and everyone will finally realize how he's not worth more than 6-7 mill per. john
  2. i think it's pretty pathetic when people are happy someone is injured just so a baseball team will have a better chance of winning. it's a friggan game, we shouldn't be wishing or hoping that human beings are injured... wish for them to have a bad game instead. john
  3. ben sheets is allready the best right handed pitcher in the game. he just needs to stay healthy. john
  4. here is my 2 cents: soriano is the most overrated player in baseball right now. if anyone thinks he's an offensive threat they should check out his home/away splits, they are god awful. he thrives in arlington because it's a kids park. i'm willing to bet he hits less than 18 hr's this year with an obp of less than .310 again. 10 mill a season for that? the nationals are by far the dumbest team this offseason.. john p.s.- he's not a contact hitter, the guy batted .268 last season. now that he's out of arlington and doesn't have the good texas lineup behind him i also predict he scores less than 90 runs.. basically decrease in every single category. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6154/splits;_ylt=AoEBMO4nlDYxaIt8yUflEr6FCLcF those are his home away splits for 2005. he batted .224 outside of arlington.. this guy is garbage and it's pathetic the nationals have a moron for a gm.
  5. then it's really not worth playing.. no money fantasy leagues are a joke, there are always those 3-4 guys who don't give a crap and make no effort whatsoever. john
  6. i'll play if we put money on it.. lets say 50 bucks? john
  7. mulder is done.. zito was so inconsistent last year.. at times he was lights out.. at others batters were tee'ing off on him... i'de much rather spend the money on guys like ben sheets, jake peavy (yeah, they have extensions allready) andruw jones etc.. john
  8. are we sox fans still bitching about damon leaving? it's not like he ran away with your wife, he went to the yankees, big friggan deal. damon is a good player, but you guys make it sound like manny or papi left us for the yankees. you want to know what's funny. i told one of my roommates the other night that damon left for the yankees and he said "wait, damon isn't a sox anymore" it was probably the best thing i've heard in a while. it really isn't that big of a deal. john
  9. how could anyone give a rats ass about kobe bryant? the guy cheated on his beautiful wife, then claims that shaq has done worse things on national television.. wtf? it's like stealing from a store and saying that the kid down the street has stolen from houses. not to mention he never apologized to shaq. shaq, the victim is the one who walked over to kobe and made the truce, now that is a man. kobe will forever be known as the person who drove shaq out of town, the person who cheated on his wife, and an immature me first player. that's how his legacy is and will always be no matter how many points he scored. shaq however will go down as one of the greatest centers who has ever played the game, he's taken every team he's been on to the conference finals. don't tell me that shaq needed penny, or kobe, or wade.. he was the reason that those teams went that far.. even jordan had his pippen, you could even say that jordan had a stronger cast, pippen in his prime was superior to penny, kobe and wade when shaw played with them. john
  10. outkast fan i see.. i use mozilla and it works perfectly fine.. try reinstalling if you can't figure it out. john
  11. that is true.. if damon returned the damon disciples or bandwagoners would have grown beyond my imagination. he was a chick magnet.. college girls thought it was the cool thing to like damon.. now he's a yankee and they are all off the boat. the red sox thought logically.. 52 over 4 is too much for damon. john
  12. jumping off the marte bandwagon.. john
  13. the wbc is GARBAGE... how can you respect a tournament that is not allowing CUBA to play? i don't care what people say, it's stupid.. it's a damn baseball game. banning cuba from the games absurd. secondly.. if i were the dominicans i'de put soriano on a boat and tell the usa to take him.. they have placido or belliard they can start over him, to think soriano is a starter is silly. john
  14. are you guys actually surprised? i've been preaching theo since he left.. everything that has been done reaks of theo. lucchino won't be playing a smaller role. he's too important. to think that the sox would be "perfectly fine" w/o LL is silly. he's done a great deal for this team. to say that he wouldn't fit in is absurd. john
  15. his calculations are based on big league stats.. papelbon didn't have enough big league stats while james was putting together this book. john
  16. anyone that thinks manny will not finish his contract as a sox is a moron.. it's that simple.. john
  17. marte's upside is eric shavez.... basically 30-35 hr's a year.. more important is the high OBP... john
  18. jim rice was only a prick because he didn't comply with the media and they turned him into some demon, the same thing happened to pedro, the same thing would happen to big papi if he started to ignore the media. either you are with them or against them. you get all those tries for a reason, he's not a first ballot hofmer but by now his time has come. john
  19. the orioles of not too long ago never had a shot because of their pitching staff. the blue jays have a very very solid staff anchored by halladay. john
  20. what are yout alking about.. 5 years 60 mill for millwood is a terrible contract.. they ddin't blow jack... they saved themselves from overpaying for a player who had a fluke year. john
  21. reggie sanders is an underated player... if healthy he'll put up great numbers for 5 mill per.. he was a great contributor to my winning fantasy team. john
  22. i see no problem with anything 700 has said. being on this board a long time and winning some talksox awards don't mean jack. 99% of the members on this board have yet to hit puberty and with the remaining 1% only half of them know anything about baseball. it's simply a debate on how the redsox have treated nomar. everything 26 has said is absurd. he thinks nomar should have been offered a 10 year deal like jeter and a-rod. the yankees would NEVER offer jeter a 10 year contract if he was on and off the DL during the last 3 years of his previous contract. it's simple as that. nomar was treated well, he was jealous that he didn't get the massive contract and tried to play the cards differently, in the end he was traded and we won a world series without having to deal with him. 700, you're new to the site and i welcome you with open arms. all criticism was pretty constructive and i feel that you'll be a great contributor to the site. remember, it's not the quantity of posts you have that matter, it's the quality of them. john
  23. ANY team that signs roger clemens is "buying" a championship (trying to at least)... the guy is basically only willing to sign one year contracts, one year insanely expensive contracts. he's the last pitcher i would sign. he's old, getting older and is insanely expensive. it's a high risk high reward. you know what you're going to get.. a great season and a slight shutdown at the end of the season. for a reasonable price i would sign millwood. pitching > hitting. especially with schilling and beckett we could use the insurance. the pitching > hitting thing is true, but NO teams pitching > yankee hitting. that lineup is just bonkers right now. i can't possibly imagine how many runs they are going to produce this year. 350+ just from damon, jeter and arod. that's crazy, they still have 6 more guys in the starting lineup. even if we did sign millwood i still feel as the jays has a better staff... slightly less questionmarks. john
  24. says who? loretta is capable of leading off.. his obp was .006 lower than damons last year. john
  25. if they were overmatched they would have given in and given damon the long expensive contract he wanted.. the total opposite happened, we didn't give in. john
