  1. the problem with these injuries are that they are never given enough time to heal and once healed they are not taken care of properly. ligaments are not like muscles. they have very little vascularization, therefore lack bloodflow, therefore lack the nutrients required to heal, therefore take longer to heal than other parts of the body. it is important that he rehabs the ligament properly and takes care of it when it's healthy once again. ASSUMING that he goes to therapy 7 days a week and follows the proper routine i can see AJ pitching with a healthy elbow in 2-3 weeks. if he's not in PT everyday and he comes back before or at 2-3 weeks it's not going to be good later down the season. john
  2. if you're going to bash yankees in your sig you might want to try and spell the word you'RE properly... if not you just sound "special" yourself. john
  3. i don't listen to what anyone says about the sox on the radio unless they are on the team. i swear to god i have yet to hear one person say anything good on the radio. an example is: wow, beckett, that kid is going to be good, he just looks like a big game pitcher.. wtf is that? i bet they don't even know what OBP is let alone WHIP. john
  4. i'm pretty pissed i'm not in this league.. i'm in 1st or 2nd in all 6 of my leagues.. john
  5. ****Total Red Sox Wins : ___2___________ ****Total Red Sox Home Runs :_____6____ ****Total Red Sox Runs Scored :___17_____ even though i wanted 19 how come optimist and schilling out the k's can both have 18? error? john
  6. an orthopedic surgeon can read mri's and snip cut etc.. they don't know too much about rehab. if they can't see a problem on an mri they will send the patient to a physical therapist. they are the true behind the scene people that diagnose everything wrong with patients. john
  7. if the mri doesn't show anything that means that there is no inflammation..... why would you open him up to see if there is inflammation of the nerve when that's exactly what the mri is for? john
  8. until my check comes crespo shouldn't be allowed to post :-D.. john
  9. he won't trade street until his year before FA... for the money he's the best. john
  10. and it'll be less once the contracts giambi, mussina and johnson expire. in 5 years the yankees payroll will be equal or less than ours, i guarantee it. john
  11. you think what you want, i'll do the same.. 90% of good relievers can close, that's the fact. the ones that can't are the ones that have issues with butterflies. aka latroy hawkins.. who knows why he can't do it. as for dotel, he didn't close for that long. but when he did he was pretty successful. i believe his era+ in 2004 was 160ish.. which isn't the best, but not bad at all either. 20% of closers are brought up as closers from the farm system. the other 80% are transformed into closers from relivers. just right now mike gonz is being turned into a closer. guys like scott linebrink would have no problem closing. in a closer you want someone that has a high k/bb and k/9 ratio. it's that simple, the better chance he has striking someone out, the lower chances he'll let up runs. look all all the closers in the league, the ones who will be mainstays are ones who strike people out. john
  12. 3 games is a small sample size.. he's going from facing lineups that would be: damon, jeter, a-rod, sheff, giambi, matsui, posada, cano, phillips 3456 of toronto aka wells, glaus, overbay, hillenbrand 23456 of texas aka young, texiera, nevin, blalock, mench not to mention baltimore and even tampa is no squid every team in the al east is a powerhouse.. the NL central however is only held down by houston and st louis. the other teams have good hitters but it's nowhere close to the string of 4-5 above average hitters in a row.. you might find 2-3 tops, not to mention ever 9th batter is the PITCHER. john
  13. i don't want to hear anyone who says sign clemens now to EVER bitch about the yankees buying a championship again... because if in fact we did do this and we did win we would be the first team to literally "buy" a championship in the past decade. john
  14. i don't want to see isntant replay in baseball.. part of the game is being safe by an inch, or out by an inch. if there were to be instant replays i think it should not be for balls and strikes. it should be for stuff like trapping balls, seeing if players left the bag too early on a sac fly, checking if HR's were actually HR's.. yelling at the tv about balls and strikes is one of the fun part of watching the game with a couple bro's and a couple more brews. john
  15. you win some you lose some.. happens. it would be sweet if we took the next game from their ace.. john
  16. i got something for your sig.. "Karim Garcia? Who is Kahreem Garcia?" oh pedro, how i miss thee. john
  17. did tek just bat left handed against ryan? john
  18. wow, he raped us with that contract.. i sure hope to god this streak he's on stays somewhat consistant all year.. please don't age schill.. please john
  19. i believe schillings 07 contract is guaranteed if he pitches well in 06.. i don't want the question the guy but he's going to be old. whether or not he's a sox in 07 depends on his 06 performance.. john
  20. what is a sox fan doing in IN? john
  21. define unbelievable.. because if you're expecting puljos numbers you're on crack.. i can see a 290/365/410 line from him... if he puts out a 290/375/425 line i'll be stupified but not surprised. p.s.- lowell at 3rd > hillenbrand at 3rd anyday john
  22. ew.... youk > hillenbrand john
  23. you can't steal bases if you don't get on base....... espn.com gamecast > mlb.com gameday john
  24. the best seats in baseball are fenway bleachers. i don't know about you guys, but when i go to a game there is nothing i want more than to sit back with the crowd and enjoy the game. 70% of the people there are trashed, the other 30% are just too damn happy to be there to know anything else. i love it. i've been all over fenway with the exception of the monster seats and behind home plate, nothing is as good as bleachers so far. john
  25. simply put.. he WILL become a starter. closers are dime a dozen. a closer is nothing more than a reliever that comes in only in save situations. plenty of relivers can do that. there are the few guys who are "top notch" closers. those are guys who have electric stuff but cannot be out there every 5 days and pitch 100+ innings. hansen is the closer of the future, he throws harder than papelbon and should be at the end of that bullpen in 07. he came up last year and showed he is capable of pitching to mlb batters, he just needs fine tuning. john
