  1. I wonder how many times you've said that. That's gotta be upwad of 200.
  2. I don't understand why Tagliabue wants to step down, he has really done a good job.
  3. Clement is a mental gidget. It's all in his head but if he hits a stride early in the seaon, and gets all the "I can't pitch in the second half' crap out of his head he could win 17-19 games.
  4. He made the Wild Card ultimately giving the Angels, Red Sox, and Marlins all World Series wins. He also tried to crack down on steroids but the Union would hear nothing of it untill the flood gates finally opened for all to see. In the end he's done a pretty good job.
  5. 1. V-Tek loved it in Boston wanted to stay NO MATTER what unlike Johnny. 2. We gave Tek too much he's going to be in a total decline in the fouth year of that deal and we'll be paying him 10 million dollars.
  6. You would seriously rather have Lenny Dinardo than Seanez? DiNardo is so bad.
  7. I can't remember who it was I wanna say the Tigers or Dodgers, all I really remember is it was home and Nomar hti an inside the park homerun and it was sweet.
  8. This is really unlike Pokey, it kind of makes me worried.
  9. For the ammount of money and years he got, how can you possily blame him.
  10. Tavarez and Seanez are both pretty good pitchers, but the numbers seem to lean toward Seanez. Seanez in 60 IP last year had an ERA of 2.69, 84 K's with just 22 Walks, also only one loss credited to him with 4 HR's given up all year. Tavarez in 65 IP had an ERA of 3.43, with only 47 K's, and 19 walks, three losses credited to him he aso gave up 6 HR's. What you want in a middle relief set up guy is a high K count, with as little home runs as possible, so the scale tends to tip toward Seanez. But given the constant injury of Foulke I think it would be safe to keep them both.
  11. Anyone who thinks the Red Sox front office screwed up handling Damon and that there was any possibility of re-signing him is crazy. Scott Boras is his agent which, unless the made an obscenely large offer, gaurantees that he goes out on the market to test it, as almost all of Boras' clients do. After that the Yankees contact him with thier INSANELY large offer, and Johny jsut can't refuse, Johnny was gone as soon as the season ended.
  12. I'm sorry but I've gotta call you on this one. You can say what you want about Johnny, he may be an idiot, and he may talk too much, but you can't say he never busted his nuts. That was one of the reasons I loved Johnny, he went balls out, all the time.
  13. EXACTLY, I've been againt Piazza playing for Italy the entire time. If you were born in the U.S you should play for the U.S. If you were born in the D.R you should play for the D.R. The only real exception is if like you were born in the US and then moved to the Dominican when you were like a toddler and then lived there the rest of your life. That's fine. But if you lived there for a few years, that doesn't really work out.
  14. No as I said I've never been within a thousand miles of the place. The point is he isn't a Dominican. This was A-Rod being the normal PR whore that he is Ozzie was jsut the only on ewith the balls enough to call him on it.
  15. He wasn't wrong though, I'm willing to bet a superior made him do this. A-Rod is not a Dominican, he never has been a Dominican, he never will be a Doiminican. The whole thing was stupid it would be like me saying, you know what I'm gonna go to the Olympics but instead of representing America, I'm going to represent Ireland. I was born and raised in Connecticut and have never been within a thousand miles of the island, but both my families are from there so who the hell cares?
  16. I'm not a Yankee fan but I'll answer that. NO! No one (except for maybe Barry Bonds) scarier to the New York Yankees than David Ortiz.
  17. Here's my opinon on Tito, he's an alright manager and a pretty good fit for the Sox. A quiet, not too over the top, never really gets heated, players manager which is key, because with the personalities on the Sox we need a a players manager. My only real problem with him is he can not manage a pitching staff to save his life. It really is terrible. I'm an optimistic guy, and try to see the logic in almost every move that the Red Sox make. But there were points in the last season where Tito made some pitching moves where I'm STILL scratching ym head about. It jsut really makes no sense at all. Obviously there are some variables that I may not know and he does which would make him make such moves, but still some of them were jsut terrible. Lucky for us, assuming Foulke comes back to form and Hansen develops well enough we should have a pretty strong bullpen and it should be hard for Tito to screw it up. Tito is a pretty good manager for the Sox and I dont complain too much. On a side note Torre was a fantastic manager in the 90's and I believe all the ego on that Yankees team that has built up over the years has really taken a toll on him. It really wouldn't shock me to seem him retire at the end of the season.
  18. I'm sorry but you can't ppssibly believe that can you? Marte may have a been a good prospect yes, but he was just that: a prospect. It is never a sure shot that prospects will translate well into the bigs. Could it turn out that Marte becomes better than Crisp? Absoloutly. But as of right now we have no idea.
  19. He won't really play all that much, he'd be good to have as a PR in the later innings but outside of that unless, God forbid something happens to Crispy he should get much time.
  20. Ponsosn was pretty good a few years ago. Plus pitching in the NL is not as hard as pitching in the AL. I would take a shot on him if i were the Cards.

    NL West

The Dodgers are in pretty good shape in possibly the worst division ever.
  22. We deal with Boras because he has the bst players. Nothing you can do.
  23. If I'm not mistaken did I not call this in the "What owuld you go if you were the Yankees GM" thread. four years for a grossly large ammount of money that the Red so xowuld be stupid to match. Personally I think we're better off thats jsut way too muc for a guy who is likely to start declinging in the middle of that contrat. Hugely helps the Yankees in the short term though.
  24. Reed is already known as a tremendous big league glove. He has potential to become a good bat, I actually think we may be better off getting Reed depending on when Damon hits his decline.
