  1. While I agree with you a lot of the balls that Gonzo makes an "error" most Short stops don't even get to. The guy is probabaly the best fielder in the bigs, because he aint' playing for his bat.
  2. Totally different situation, and Bill Buckner was one of the best defensive first baseman ever to play the game. I think all time he is like 5th or 6th in fielding percentage. JT Snow is useless to us and I would like to see Choi in the bigs, might as well DFA him. Because Nixon for Zito goes againt EVERYTHING Billy Beane believes in. Nixon is 1. getitng older and 2. In a contract year, it makes no sense for the A's to do that trade. Better question, why trade Nixon at all when he's hitting the cover off the ball?
  3. We have enough young pitchers on the farm. I don't expet to see him untill the 40-man is called up in September.
  4. Alright I don't usually enter these things but this is defin itly an opportunity for me to re-pay someone. I would like these tickets not really for me but for my Dad. Every year when the Red Sox ticket office opens online he is there the second it opens. He then sits on his computer for hours on end trying to get good tickets for himself and his three sons (I'm the oldest). Long story short after about two or three hours on the computer he gets up and tells us what games he got. It's usually about 8 or 9 games, seven or eight of them have 4 tickets each (himself and his sons) and one game every year he gets two tickets (for him and my mother). Every year he usually spends around two - two and a half grand a year on Red Sox tickets, and that's just on tickets alone! I don't know how much it usually totals up to after parking, food, a souvenir or two, it totals up to far more than he can really afford. Every year he yells at himself for how much he spent on these games and every year when the ticket box opens he is on that computer again. I have been to Fenway many times in my life and I have maybe spent a grand total of 100 dollars of my own money in all of these games combined. It definitly wouldn't be full payback but I would like nothing more than to be able to give these tickets to my Dad and say, "Here, take Mom and enjoy yourself, I owe this to you". My Dad deserves these tickets and I need to pay him back for everything he's given me and my siblings.
  5. We need to keep this pressure on Mussina he's the type of pitcher who can settle down real fast and be dominant.
  6. Actually I would be all around press to make sure peopleknew that it was me thhat had it, bring it home, burn it in the privacy of my own home, and then sell the fould ball I got last year during a game calling it the home run ball.
  7. Renteria is jsut an NL player, made to play there.
  8. Great 9 pitch walk to start the game.
  9. Exactly let's be smart here and throw at the person hitting in front of Manny Ramirez.
  10. Wow looking at the first two pages of thsi thread we oculdn't have been any more wrong about anything that happened.
  11. I TOTALLY called this, gotta give myself some dap for this.
  12. Baseball and Philosophy (sp?) it was a good read.
  13. I ahte Andy Milanokis, anyway, can we get some Mod intervention here these names for the thread's really need to stop.
  14. Arroyo -It's been one month into the season, he will come back down to earth, he also went from pitching in the AL East to the NL Central. Petey- Is the reincarnation of God, Josh Bard could be his catcher he would still put up big numbers. D-Lowe- Sucks has sucked since he left us, brining him up only hurts your case. Jason Varitek won, the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove last year, he is the best Catcher in baseball, who also prepares harder than any other player in the bigs, pitchers ARE better with him because he does so much work studying batters before games. You know that little notebook thing Schilling does on the bench that everyone praises him for saying he's such a hard worker "always looking to improve"? Yeah Jason Varitek does TWICE as much as he does before and after games, he just does it behind the scenes because he's not a little media whore like Schilling. Sometimes you have to give a player an extra million dollars and one extra year to keep him, you can't ALWAYS get your way with years and money. It's how it is, one year of crappy Tek is worth the three years we have of good Tek.
  15. Yeah the Red Sox knew that when he got traded. The scouting report his entire career has been for whatever reason he can't jsudge the ball from the corners and can from center.
  16. It is WAY to early to be talking about MVP right now. Right now Pap's looks liek the front runner for ROY and whatever the hell the "reliever of the year" award is right now. But there's still 5 months left in the season anything can happen. And as for whoever said Relievers won't win MVP's Rivera was the front runner for the MVP for liek 3 months untill he stumbled in September he threw like what was 38 consecutive saves and so manny batters w/o giving up a run.
  17. To get Willis we would prbabaly have to give up Lester, Hansen and one fo oru top position prospects, since this is never happening don't get your hopes up on Willis. I want Clemens of course he's going to be a little bitch and wait a month to decide his team even though we could use him right now.
  18. He's off to a hot start but there's no way he can keep this up for long.
  19. Fine he'll be 36 after the contact is over far beyond the average CF's prime. I'm not saying Coco is going to be better than Damon this year but in the long term we got the better deal.
  20. For th erecod I never said anything about physical assault, I said they should be deported.
  21. I despise Hazel Mae with every fiber of my being.
  22. Bard couldn't hit and couldn't catch Wakefield, we needed this.
  23. Even if he can start taking BP soon it will still be a tleast two weeks. We don't wantto rush him back, we don't want to ruin him fo rthe rest of the season trying to grab an extra week in May.
