  1. Of course he has the stuff, but how many pitcher have we seen go in and out who had "the stuff". Do we know if his arm can take all the pitching? Do we know if he can handle the pressure of pitching in the bigs? Do we know that he can mentally adjsut to pitching in America in front of thousands of fans regularly? Do we know if he can consistantly put is arm through all those pitches in a full year and keep that same velocity and movement? Kazmir has proven that he can do all these things going into his second full season in the majors and spening the time going through the minors in the Mets system. All I'm saying is Felix Hernandez can fizle out liek so many great young ptichers that we have seen.
  2. Ok Pettite may not have been proven but I don't believe Mel had much to do with it. Not to mention they all looked better because they all had each other around them along with that booming offense. All I'm saying is since about 1998 Mel has done nothing to show me that he is a good pitching coach.
  3. I was actually just trying to make a referance to that sign that said "we forgive Buckner" in St. Louis after game 4. I actually totally agree with you and think it's unfortunate that the 8th or 9th best fielding first baseman in history became a goat because McNamara was an idiot.
  4. He's a GM, and the Sox we're desperate for a good GM while they were going after Beane. He can't possibly expect what they offered Beane.
  5. A confrence center? I HATE s*** like that. Thats for people who go to the game to talk buisness. Those guys are at Shea stadium all the time, they can't even name 5 players on the team. It's just a waste of space that could be taken up by real fans who actually want to watch the game.
  6. We won't want Soriano in the 2006 offseason unless we stupidly trade Pedroia this season.
  7. Felix Hernandez hasn't proven himself to me yet. The guys made a few starts for a last place team and done a great job, but how many times have we seen these hotshot pitchers come in for a half a year and then fizzle out. Kazmir for the past year and a half has pitched consistantly great for the hapless D-Rays.
  8. I hate The Wall Street Journal. Right wing toilet paper.
  9. Honestly I don't tihnk Grady would ever take a job in the AL for the very reason he owuld have to go back to Fenway. We may have forgiven Buckner in 2004, but we sure as hell didn't forgive Grady.
  10. I would like to see Graf return. As great a player Soriano is I don't think I'd want him. The last tihng we need is another guy who doesn't run out groundballs/ pop ups. Graff hustles like few other players in the big leagues today, not to mention he can hit. You'd get a very underrated player for a relatively small price.
  11. Ok youre an idiot. You're wrong in everything except the Red Sox need a speed player. 1. Renteria doesn't suck, but we won't start with that again. 2.Did the Red Sox have any lefty starter in 2004? 3.Yeah there's great odds the the D-Rays will trade to us the best young pitcher in baseball. 4.We've been over why we don't need fundamentals like bunting stealing and sacrificing, they've lead the league in scoring 3 years in a row. We don't need to play small ball. CityofChamions you have probabaly one of the funniest sigs I've seen in awhile.
  12. Everyone hated the .406 club. Honestly I owuld pay good money to throw a concrete baseball through that s***.
  13. That was my quote, and I don't think anyone can deny they do sound exactly the same. Comapred to other announcers around baseball Orsillio is really good. Remey and Orsillo work better together than any other team in baseball. I wasn't trying to take anytihng away from McDounugh, he's a great announcer no doubt, but when it ccoem to calling Red Sox game, which Orsillio did day in and day out Orsillio is better.
  14. Yeah but he had pitchers like Pettite, Rocket, Mussina, Wells, guys who had already proven themselves and were already bona fide pitchers. Guys who he actually had to work with and help with mechanics such as Jose Contrares (sp?) or Jeff Weaver who were terrible with the Yankees, then left and and had sucsess with other teams. He's really not that good of a pitching coach.
  15. What makes you tihnk Giles would sign with us? I mean maybe if we made sure we could sign him but you make it sound so easy.
  16. IT's a good point in theory but in real life it doesn't really work. Things like improving fundamentals in particular players normally happens in the minor leagues. By the time most players get to the majors, they are already set on performing certain tasks. Sure you can do minor things like help a player try to read where balls will go and go from first to third and sutff like that but thats about it. In this era of free agents if you want players who do things like that, you need to go get a player who does things lke that. It is very very hard to internally make guys better at certain things on the major league level.
  17. No one gives Renteria enough credit, getitng rid of Rent and brining back "Achillies" and "They intentionally screw up the dirt" Garciaparra would be two dumb moves in one.
  18. Ok Arroyo is not going to become an "Ace" any time soon. Isn't he like 28 he's not a young kid. I say trade him while he has minimal value.
  19. I don't see why seeing Mel go would make any Yankee fan say Uh-oh. The guy has to be one of the worst pitching coachs in the history of baseball. I was praying they would keep him so he could screw up some more pitchers.
  20. What are you his agent?
  21. IF we traded Manny, which I think would be a huge mistake, obviously MAtsui would be the number one choice. Matsui will probabaly resign with the Yanks but if we had a chance ot sign him the only problem I would see is his fielding. His fielding is pretty bad as is, and he supremely sucks at playing the wall at Fenway.
  22. Lets not annoint Lester or Sanchez as "Starting help" yet.
  23. You might have to pay him 3 grand.
  24. Millar making 3 and a half was an absolute sin.
  25. OK: 1.We don't play in the NL we have a slugging line up. We've led the league in runs scored 3 years in a row, we don't need to sacrifice. 2.Once again unnessacary we have a station to station team, maybe is our offense sucked we would try s*** like this but we don't need it. 3.If we had speed we could do that, Kapler and Damon could do that and di that plenty of times. Once again we have a station to station team, and it works, why f*** with it? 4. We're a slow team Damon and Kapler could probabaly do that but the other guys can't. Once again we dn't need that unless our offense goes into a tailspin. 5. Once again we don't need it, plus we don't have enough guys hwo make enough contact to do that. 6.We don't need it. To summerize 1-6 We don't need it. Those things are all for teams who don't have sluggers in thier line ups and need to find other ways to push runs across the plate. We've led the league in runs scored 3 years in a row, why would you want to f*** with that. 7. Hitting the cut off man? We do hit the cut off man. None of our outfielders arms are strong enough to get to very far anyways. The only way to get th eball back to the infield was to hit the cut off man. 8. Smarter defensive alignment? We put th shift on heavy pulling lefties like most other teams outside of that what else is thier to do? 9. We turned the DP fine. I don't see why this si the problem 7-9 make no sense to me why anyone wuld think they need to be "fixed".
