Manny isn't as clutch as Ortiz, Ortiz has jsut as many HR's more RBI (yesI'm aware that Papi is in the 3 and Manny is in the 4 but Ortiz doesn't hit a bases clearing hit EVERY time) and a higher batting average. Without a doubt it's David Ortiz.
Yeah because a 2.83 ERA should be attributed all to the Card offense.
Carpenter has been the most consistant starter in the National League all year. If Clemens hadn't fallen out it would have been him but it's gotta be Carpenter.
Well by that theory A-Rod leads in a major category too. Andruw Jones threw his team on his back like no one else could, Andruw winning it does in no way mean the Papi should.
I wouldn't bring Hansen either, we already have Papelbon, he's a great fireballer but would need a little more expierience in the bigs before we bring him to the post season.
Wells vs. Wang adv. Wells
Wake vs. Johnson adv. Toss up/ slight advantage Johnson
Schilling vs. Mussina adv. Schilling (Mussina has pitched liek crap his last 2 or 3 starts).
Papelbon-I like ENORMUS potential
Hansen- If he can come up with a marginally decent breaking ball he'll be devestating
Dinardo- not a huge fan but he is very young.
Delcarmen- Trade him while the stock is high, I don't like him that much and I really don't liek his stuff.
It depends really I'm pretty sure sundays starters are Mussina and Wake? I like our odds in that Saturday Johnson is going for the Yankees so I don't tihnk we'll win that. I'm tihnking we're going to win tonight off of sheer momentum.
To me it all really hangs on Saturday's game (assuming we win tonight). If we beat RJ there's no way they beat us in Game 3 with Wakefield on the hill, the Yankees just straight up can't hit him.
That being said I do see this going back to the Bronx because I'm not confident at all that we can hit Johnson.
His slider is looking ok at best when he pitches it. It works when he comes out of the bullpen, if he starts guys will be seeing him anywhere from 2-3 times in the same game. If they can get used to it and sit on fastball, he would have trouble in the mid to later innings.
I jut think he needs a good breaking ball and perfect his splitter to be his out pitch before we anoint (sp?) the next big thing".
I'm not sold on him as a starter yet, he's got a great fastball so he can work out of the pen, but I think he needs to perfect that splitter and pick up a decent breaking ball before we put him in the rotation.
Kevin Millar goes balls out all the time too, and we know how much you love him.
All Kidding aside I see your point, he doesn't get enough credit from the average fan, but I still think Red Sox fans give him a bit more credit than he should get.
