  1. It's not great either. Think of how easily an opponent could turn Tek and Lowery lefty and how easy it would be to match up with that lineup from a bullpen point of view.
  2. Do you really want to put "Since 2004" on there? Sounds like we're all bandwagoners. I'm also anti white. Red would be sweet.
  3. I feel like I can breathe again. Great first game, glad I missed the pregame, Remy wasn't too annoying. I liked it all, from the intro to the whole NESN/Fenway look. I love the new Tek swing too - not that it will work, mind you - mostly because it looks cool. What lefty tries to pull the ball at fenway??? Probably nobody, but it may help on the road. It looks like someone else's swing too but I can't figure out who it is. But it looks more natural to Tek (or a lefty I guess) than his old swing did. It is noticably different. The depth on this team (as of today...) amazes me. I've never seen/had pitching like this on any Sox team I've ever seen before. The fact that they could trade one of their pitchers at the deadline and get something massive in return has me feeling good. Probably never happen, but if they trade Smoltz back to Atlanta for something I'd laugh my ass off, because it wouldn't surprise me in the least and would confuse the hell out of every braves fan I know. I'm not even worried about the lineup or the economy right now! Life is good. AL East baseball is back! And tomorrow I get to watch it in HD but on ESPN. Things could be a lot worse! oh yeah, beckett looked awesome. CC sux.
  4. go sox! (new thread)
  5. http://blog.masslive.com/redsoxmonster/2008/09/red_sox_reach_91year_high_in_s.html eat me
  6. Again. I want one.
  7. First reported use of steroids in baseball was in 1984*. One could assume that Cal Ripken and Roger Clemens were on them their entire careers. Just like Arod, since there was no "spike" in numbers, I'll just assume Pujols is a lifetime PED user. I'd even go so far as to say anyone who made their major league debut between 1990 and 2003 (and probably now) was on some PED since day one. It was that "loosey goosey" back then. *MLB Tonight
  8. Whenever I think of Wily Mo I always think of that laser homerun he hit at Fenway that hit the back wall of one of the monster seats and bounced all the way back to the second base bag. I think NESN timed it as leaving the yard in under 2 seconds or something.
  9. BRING IT ON BITCHES!
  10. So is Adam Mills the son of Brad Mills? I thought the Sox signed some sons of management a couple of years ago. I always thought of it as payback for championships.
  11. I'll start this by saying I think both the Sox and Yanks are incomplete right now and that this strange economy will come into play with deadline moves. I think both the Sox (offense) and the Yanks (pitching) will be addressed. In the end I think the Sox pitching will be deeper and the Sox will win the East - on paper anyway - by pitching and defense and an offense that will be helped with a mid season move. I also think the Sox and Rays can withstand a loss to the starting rotation better than the Yanks right now. So, in that respect, I think the Rays overall staff is deeper than the Yanks one too, and I fully expect DL time out of at least 2 of their starters. (For the record, I expect the same from Sox starters, except they have like 5 guys they could start at any time and give you a quality (better than Dave Pauley) start. I also think the Rays offense has gotten a little better but it's still not perfect. Anyway, here's my list. A.L East- Red Sox* A.L Central- Chicago A.L West- Angels Wildcard- Rays* N.L East- Phillies N.L Central- Cubs N.L West- Giants* if Manny's out of the equation. But yeah, wherever he lands on the West coast. Wildcard- Braves *If the Yanks land Manny, everyone's f***ed.
  12. Nice! Where'd you hear that? And does that mean that of the 1200 tested, 500 were negative, 100 were positive and the other 600 were false/positive? Those numbers would actually add up for me percentage-wise. Jeez. It just occured to me (duh) that the Goverment actually has urine tests of every major league player from the height of the steriod era. Wow.
  13. He's lying out his ass. Let me ask you this, if he hit 57, 52 and 47 HRs in Texas using the stuff, why would he stop cheating once he got to NY of all places? The guy's been on roids from the moment he came into the league. I mean, he had been putting up huge numbers for 10 year and the very first year they tested him, he failed. He's a lifer and he's not the only one.
  14. Just saw part of the Gammons interview on ESPN and ARod's already teary eyed.
  15. Lol. This is the greatest news I've had all week! I can't wait for the ARoid chants at fenway this summer!
  16. I got great numbers this year. I'm winning something. :damon: 9-6, 7-4, 6-8, 5-0
  17. I'm stuck with 26-6? Can I just kill myself instead??? Go Arizona!!!! Thanks for adding me!
  18. Good god, you guys are all so gay. Pitchers and Catchers in 2 weeks!
  19. Ok, I'm not going to read all 13 pages, so sorry if this has been brought up already. But this has to end. I'm so damn tired of reading about it. Take the offer Tek. The Sox did everything right on this one. They offered a lot in arbitration and likely would have added another year if Tek had taken it in some sort of deal to avoid arb. The fact that no team seams to want to part with a draft pick is just the result of awesome knowledge of the situation by Boston. And to top it off, they still offered more than anyone else would surely offer for the guy right now. Tek is f***ed - and sitting it out till June wont fix anything because even if the pick is removed from the situation, who else would offer him 5 mill for half a season? Sox own Boras and Tek on this one unless some team comes in and makes like the worst offer in history just to f*** the Sox.... Even the Yanks... well.. nah. Tek is f***ed and his good will is almost gone, so he'll be back, like it or not but on the (almost) cheap. I'm fine with it from a pitching standpoind, but they do need to still add a bat to the bottom of the lineup if nobody is to protect Oritz.
