  1. If he wins this year, I say yes. That's why I'm pulling for him.
  2. I think you're just mad cuz you cant tell if I'm being sarcastic or not. First, Youk has played 2nd before. Pedroia used to be a SS and Lowell is a 3B and Dunn is a 1b. "Ii lIKE itz!" could be me saying I like it or OR just me being sarcastic with the caps key on. So who's the f***ing genius now????? make sense? :papelbon:
  3. Didn't the whole "sign a guy in the offseason so he could (may) be ready by July" thing actually start with the Yanks and Clemens? The Red Sox do it now, but I think the Yanks started it.
  4. Dunn at first, Youk at second, Pedroia at SS and Lowell at 3B. Ii lIKE itz!
  5. Haha. All my atlanta friends are either really pissed or really sad he's gone. I don't knock him for turning down the braves offer though. It was ridiculous - the only way he'd get his incentives is if he pitched 200 innings this year. Asking a 41 year old guy who's coming off of shoulder surgery to pitch that many innings to earn his pay is nuts. http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/braves/stories/2009/01/08/smoltz_red_sox.html
  6. Quiet you. Cesar Crespo was the MAN btw. Just a really small version of him.
  7. I bet you by 2024 there's a new Fenway.
  8. Screw that. I want one. I want to live long enough to see a new Fenway. That's my new goal in life. And the new Yankee Stadium has a manually operated scoreboard? Is that new?
  9. Man it even looks evil... http://blog.silive.com/latest_news/2008/04/04-11-YANKEES.jpg Where can I find more pictures of this sucker? Yesnetwork board is the only place i've found.
  10. Fact is Boras would go to the Yanks one last time no matter what the Sox offered to see if they'd outbid the Sox. I don't buy this whole "Tex didn't want to go to Boston" ******** either. You go to where the money is coming from. Boras lets any team snipe at the end of the bidding process - that's just his way of spinning it. On that note, I hope Henry is pissed at Boras right now and doesn't sign Varitek simply out of spite. That way Manny can wind up in Washington and Tek wherever. Then I hope JD Drew's right shoulder explodes so that contract can be voided. f*** 'em all and f*** you to!
  11. I'm fine with a real platoon at catcher all year really. Obviously Bard wasn't brought on to catch Wake.. And really, Brad Penny? I always thought he was a better pitcher than his stats indicate. I'm not really as excited after looking them up.
  12. $$$ > East Coast
  13. eei just reported the top bids for Tex by the Angels and Sox are 8/180. It looks to me like the years are playing out so now it's all about the $$$.
  14. I only see this happening if the Tex offer falls apart. They probably would just resign Byrd, but if the Yanks land Tex, go for more pitching I say. But who knows, the GMs are buds and I don't put anything past Theo to upgrade. And it could definitely help both teams. I don't see Lugo being too happy at being a bench player either. Jay Payton anyone?
  15. I think he has to stay on the 40 for an entire year after being taken. I think...
  16. wow. 82.5 Million. I love the little .5 at the end.
  17. This thread just sucked the life out of me.
  18. And they could make one and they know it.
  19. Ugh, there are so many things wrong with this thread. First is, do any of you really think the Sox care about unloading (or taking on) 5 Million tiny little dollars? Any argument about money goes out the window so long as the Sox come in behind the Yanks in payroll. And you have to be an idiot to think that if Tex is snagged, that Lowell would be "unmovable". There's a serious shortage of power hitting corner infielders - especially 3rd basemen. Hell, the Phills were trying to get him last year. A LOT of teams would listen to offers and, with a little monetary help, would love to acquire Lowell - even off injury. Why would the Sox trade Lowell before getting Tex??? If they get Tex, bring back Lowell slowly from the DL. Make sure he's right, then trade him later in the season once he's cleared to play every day. He is Mike Lowell by the way - he knows it's a business, he's class all the way. He'd understand. And if something happens to Youk or Tex or even Papi at DH, then we have a super sub 3rd baseman in the wings much like Crisp was in the OF. On that note, I think it's a great trade if Ramirez pitches even decent. Because compared to Timlin, he is an upgrade. As for Ellsbury, what about the fact the Sox gave Pedroia the starting job after letting Loretta go? He did pretty OK. Maybe letting Ells know CF is his will be the kind of thing that jump starts an already solid start into the Damon Jr type player he was hyped as being? This is his shot. Let's find out if the kid can truly play a year on his own. As for Rocco, I like the guy, but if he can only seriously play twice a week and not in 3 games in a row, I'll pass. I like the idea, love the story, but it's too risky. And especially to Crunchy, talk about treating a guy like s*** on the way outa town... There's been nothing but nice remarks in all the Boston outlets about Crisp. They're giving him a chance to be a big fish in a small pond in a contract year. He wanted a trade more than even me! And it probably leaves the door open for him to come back at a time later in his career when he truly is a 4th outfielder. So quit your annoying bitching about the FO office already. You are an idiot if you think the Sox currently are being run by fools who don't know more than you. Do you even know how to write a f***ing paragraph yet?
  20. Good for me.
  21. I know. I'd say Batting Title could be there as well. The comparisons to Nomar - and they should be - are spot on. Little guy, big swing, great at Fenway, loved by all.... a wrist injury away.. I'm all for locking this guy up now, and everyone can agree his career will be a shell of it's current self by the time he's 30. But hellz yeah, the ride from now till then is 5 long years. Pay the kid now and enjoy the show for 4 more years!
