  1. Well, if this one goes to 25 people, it will be the same odds. On that note, count me in!
  2. Kay is a total idiot. He's one of the rotating hosts on ESPNs The Sports Reporters and he doesn't know jack s*** about baseball. He's one of those "The Yankees will win because, well, err, ummm, they are the Yankees". He is to the Yankees what Shank is to the Globe and Red Sox. The only difference is that Yankee fans love Kay and Sox fans call out Shannassey as an idiot. They are both impossible to take seriously.
  3. dammit! It was worth a shot.
  4. That Clemens/Nixon/Pedro game was not only one of the best games I've ever seen, it's the single game that brought me back into baseball after the strike.
  5. I agree with almost all your predictions, ktf1229, except eight 20 game winners? When was the last time that happened?
  6. Him being owned twice on the same page is pretty impressive though.
  7. makes sense. His overall seasonal ave (per 162 games) is: .279 avg, .366 OBP, 23 Hrs, 88 RBIs
  8. It's funny, I never really thought about trading Trot. Hell, I don't even think of him as our starting RF anymore. I think of him as almost a platoon guy because of all the DL time and his not being allowed to start vs lefies. Trot's really the only reason I give any thought to the 4th outfielder guy. He's basically going to play for Trot once or twice a week. I'd trade Trot, though I'd feel bad about it. Here's hoping Trot mashes 30 this year then signs with the Dodgers in the offseason. I don't want to see some Damon-like bitterness from Trot because the Sox don't really want him. And I don't want the media to trash him either. :thumbdown One other thing about Trot. You say Dirtdog, you think Nixon. The ultimate.
  9. Unless Manny's involved somehow... with Theo ya never know. :dunno:
  10. Timlin did a good job last year, not great by any means, but good. He's no longer closer material. He'll be 40 this year. I understand wanting Papelbon in the rotation, and that will come in time. But until the closer situation is figured out Papelbon is the defacto Foulke backup plan (until Hansen).
  11. I think Papelbon will close until July if Foulke can't return to form. I don't think he should close, but I think he's the best option if Foulke craps out. And if that happens, without Wells, Arroyo is the obvious #5 starter.
  12. Ok, with Arroyo in the pen I guess.. Here's the thing, with Arroyo making 3-4 million and a possible need for a closer (I have no faith in Foulke), do you really think they'd swing Arroyo as the long man? I think we'll know by the end of April if Pap is the closer until Hansen arrives in midseason. Arroyo I think makes the rotation out of spring (new contract and all). I think Foulke will suck this spring because he does every spring training. If he doesn't have it turned around starting game 1, I think Pap is out of the rotation until midseason.
  13. He's like Hanley was. Ready 4 years ago but still not ready... Why would the Sox want Livan Hernandez anyway?
  14. I'm with you Yazman... Maybe Theo thinks he can get Pedro back in the deal too? :dunno: Personally, I think Milledge will be a bust, but that's just me.
  15. Of the ones I don't know, Luke Allen could be an interesting pickup. Seibel could also be a good pickup if he gets healthy.
  16. If my career was turning to crap because I was having problems with my contacts, I think I'd spend a few hundred dollars to get that laser eye surgery. BTW- I had the surgery about 5 years ago. If I can afford it, a millionaire can too. BTW2- If any of you are considering having the surgery in the future, you should do it. It's been great! The only downside is that my left (bad) eye is starting to get worse. But it's still a ways to go before it gets as bad as it was. One day, though, I will look like this .
  17. And Pokey gets hurt at least once a year. I actually feel pretty good about this team. Of course, I agree that the two biggest concerns are Foulke and Schilling. If they are healthy, with the new defense in the infield, it will be pretty interesting to see just how good this pitching staff gets.
  18. I don't get the whole waiting room thing. It just keeps counting down 30 seconds. Will I eventually get in or do I have to press something?
  19. Another great read. I can't figure out why people hate Schilling so much sometimes. He totally nailed the whole Boston media/EEi/shannaseylaj?$ agenda. Oh, the Simmons book is very funny. Actually, the funniest parts of the book are the footnotes.
  20. wow. Marte, Shoppach, Mota, cash AND a player to be named? Ouch.
  21. Anyone think that Riske, Tavaris or Seanez could close instead of moving Timlin or Paps into the spot if Foulke goes down again?
  22. Wow. So this is what death smells like??
  23. What the hell is Fifa? Does it involve throwing dead cattle at one another? (you crazy arabs!)
