  1. That's odd. Why can't a guy with a 17 million dollar contract buy his own bulldozer???
  2. MLB - Red Sox NBA - bah. I don't watch. I like the NCAA. NFL - Patriots and Falcons NHL - Thrashers - though the Bruins are pretty funny NCAA BB M/W - UCONN NCAA FB - UGA
  3. Ok. http://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/talksox/WWJD2.gif
  4. I thought Leinart was going pro after this season. Bush can go pro or go back to school I think.
  5. This is exactly why your argument holds no water. It's what players do between the lines that matters and what they should be judged upon. That's it. Period.
  6. Sox work on return of Epstein Ex-GM would be adviser to Cherington and Hoyer By Gordon Edes and Chris Snow, Globe Staff | December 10, 2005 Red Sox ownership is working to bring back former general manager Theo Epstein in a consulting/advisory position, according to team sources. Epstein would advise Jed Hoyer and Ben Cherington, the members of the Sox' baseball operations team who are expected to serve as co-general managers for the 2006 season, barring a last-minute reversal by ownership. It is not known whether Epstein, who on Oct. 31 declined a three-year, $4.5 million contract offer to remain as GM, has been formally approached yet by the team's principal owner, John W. Henry, or team chairman Tom Werner, but Henry and Werner have made their intentions known internally, the sources said.
  7. First stage of a Manny trade??? Hmm...
  8. God you guys are such tools to the media. Millar had 2 great years for himself in Boston. Better than I even expected he could be when we got him. Last year he stunk, but don't diminish what he did for the team before last year.
  9. I'd love to, but the sox have a better chance at signing Nomar than getting Tejada.
  10. I think sending them Rent was enough.
  11. Mueller was great. Great glove and the 2003 Batting Champ. He was a nice Yankee killer too..
  12. No. Last year we had Tek, Pedro, Lowe, Cabrera to deal with...... I think the Theo thing turned this year upside down.
  13. NOMAR!! Did anyone just hear on EEI that Gammons thinks Theo will be back?
  14. So bringing him back for 4 million is bad because the worst case scenario is that he may get injured again? And so what if he did? The upside (in light of losing Manny) is greater than the downside, if you ask me. We need a SS. Nomar wants to stay a SS. It actually makes sense if it's cheap enough. We payed Kim like 10 million over 2 years to suck and be injured. Schilling and Foulke got 20 million last year alone for being sucky and injured. A 4 million flyer on Nomar ain't a bad idea.
  15. Have you seen Marte's minor league numbers? As of August he was the #6 prospect in the nation. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/news/top50/ 1 Delmon Young 2 Felix Hernandez 3 Rickie Weeks 4 Jeff Francoeur 5 Jeremy Hermida 6 Andy Marte He's only 22
  16. "The Red Sox are now expected to sign a free-agent shortstop to replace Renteria rather than pursue a trade with the Devil Rays for Julio Lugo, as had been rumored the last couple of days here at the winter meetings." Nomar!! Nomar!! Nomar!! 4 Million baby!
  17. Are the Sox picking up any of the contract?
  18. I know, I know... But when I first heard of this trade, the first thing I thought was to get Lugo to play 2b. Then offer Nomar a 4 million with incentives contract to play SS..
  19. That is so sweet. I agree if we don't bring Manny back then Damon is a no-brainer. The Abreu signing is perfect.
  20. These games are going to suck. They are going to be played as hard as the All Star games were a few years ago. Lots of hugs and stupid s***. It's just a dorky idea. And what if, say, Japan wins? What will it mean? Nothing. Nobody is going to take it seriously. The only way I'd be half interested is if the final game came down to the USA vs Dominican Republic - and even then I'd be pulling for the Dominicans. If you can play these 'games' in March then you don't need spring training to be 6 weeks long to begin with.
  21. Why was there an appology? For what?
  22. Ledee is signed through 2006.
  23. Haha. this should be funny, as I never post things like this because I don't think things out. But....... how about this? Boston sends Manny (20 million, LF), Wells (4-5 million, LHSP) and Youk (300k, 3b/1b/utility) to Oakland for Barry Zito (6 million, LHSP). Oakland keeps Wells and Youk and sends Manny (20 million, LF) off to the Dodgers for Derek Lowe (7 million, RHSP). Dodgers send Boston Ledee (1 million, LF) and Jeff Kent (9 million 1b/2b) for 3 million dollars and a player to be named later. In the end: Boston gets (as 4th outfielder) Ledee, 1b/2b Kent, LHSP Zito - loses Manny, Wells, Youk. Key reason = Zito. Reduces payroll by about 9 million Oakland gets LHSP Wells, RHSP Lowe and IF Youk - loses Zito. Key reason = Lowe/Youk/Wells for Zito. Adds to payroll by about 3 million Dodgers get HOF LF Manny, 3 million dollars, PTBN - lose Ledee, Lowe (stunk last year), Kent (old). Key reason = Manny. Even payroll So am I the next Theo or what???? Thoughts?
  24. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/Sox_spring_sched.jpg Whaaaa? No Braves games? Only 1 Yankee game? And when is that stupid World Cup of Baseball thing? I thought it was in mid March. :dunno:
