  1. Yeah, the media will lay off this...
  2. Ahh, I don't really care. So long as by the end of the season he's got his .300 with 40 homers and 140 rbi, he can do whatever he wants.
  3. I have no problem with the game threads being a wasteland of "PAPIIIIIII1!!!!" posts. Game threads are all about emotion and the ride of the game. The fact that they are usually closed the next morning leaves enough time for post game discussion if you ask me. Many times games/plays/calls are broken down into the wee hours of the morning anyway. As for post counts, why not just get rid of them all together? It seems to be causing a problem and you can use the user ranking feature if it really means that much to some people.
  4. Actually, what I'd love to see is this. AL EAST Boston New York Toronto Baltimore Detroit Cleveland Milwawkee AL West Los Angeles Oakland Chicago Minnesota Kansas City Texas Seattle NL East Atlanta Philadelphia NY Washington Pittsburgh Cincinati St Louis NL West San Diego Arizona Houston Chicago Colorado San Fran Los Angeles You play each team roughly the same number of times (no more of this 19 times a year crap)... You could have a wild card in each division so you'd still have 8 playoff teams. The division winner takes on the wildcard from their own division in the first round of the playoffs. Obviously there's some major flaw in my logic here.. :dunno:
  5. I like the idea of losing two teams. You can't get rid of the Twins first off, or Colorado. They have too many fans and the Twins are usually competive. If anything this may help the Twins and Nats stadiums get done. If it were up to me I'd get rid of both Florida teams. Old farts in Fla don't go to games - they watch them on TV - something they can do for free with Braves broadcasts on TBS. Then you'd have to realign the divisions. With that in mind, the fewer teams in the West, the better. So... AL EAST Boston New York Toronto Baltimore Detroit AL Central Chicago Cleveland Minnesota Kansas City Milwawkee AL West Los Angeles Oakland Texas Seattle NL East Atlanta Philadelphia NY Washington Pittsburgh NLCentral St Louis Houston Chicago Cincinati Colorado NL West San Diego Arizona San Fran Los Angeles Also, the great thing about losing the two Florida teams is the amount of prospects it would pump into the rest of the league. Those teams do not have a lot of big money players on long contracts to begin with.
  6. Put them on Ebay.
  7. Just picked up my prize at the post office. Thanks again SFoC!
  8. Wally sending off the truck. http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2006/02/13/1139871926_7558.jpg You know, when they first started the whole Wally thing, I hated the idea. Hated him. Now I don't mind him. It actually provides me with some comic relief during games. He's just so retarded looking.... Can you believe this year is his 9th year already??? 1997. (I still hate the whole Remy/Wally bit though.
  9. Tony La Russa is an ass goblin.
  10. That's almost as bad as SNL being on hiatis for the next month so that Olympic highlights can be played instead. March 4 is the next new episode. Who really cares about the stupid olympics anymore - winter or summer? Sure, SNL sucks, but not as much as Olympic highlights.
  11. That was pretty funny. Why'd ya ban him?
  12. You also say "That being said" a lot. (It probably comes from your profession as a doctor, or previous profession as a pro ball player, or the fact that you're a Yankee fan.)
  13. Yeah, Wake's like 39 I think. Anyway, as much as I'd like to see Roger a Red Sox again, I really don't want him at this stage. Obviously he'll cost too much and he's too old. He's also not committed to the start or end of the season. Personally, and it's been brought up a lot, I don't want to see Roger Clemens break Cy Young's 192 win record with the Sox. I don't want anyone to think Clemens was actually better in any way than Cy F'n Young. Why would anyone want that record to fall? It's like would the Braves acquire Bonds just to see him beat out Aaron as the HR king? Well, for me, same with Roger. I think this will be a rebuilding year and I don't think the Sox will do much of anything. This is the time we should be spending on setting up the Papelbon, Beckett, Lester, Delcarmen, Hansen era that could start as soon as 2007. I have no problem taking a step back for a year so long is something is accomplished in that time.
  14. Where did you get these "numbers" anyway. He didn't play "3/4" of the season. More like 5/6 of the season. He had 522 AB and played 132 games. And if the one pitcher you think he owns is a knuckleball pitcher, congrats!
  15. It was 14 HRs, I think. Alex Cora could hit 14 hrs as a lefty in Yankee stadium in that lineup. Cano strikes no fear in anyone.
  16. His numbers last year were exaggerated because of the lineup around him. I'd expect the same this year. He's a light hitting backup at best.
  17. Now I feel like crap again.
  18. I don't know. He may look at the guaranteed money and bite. The point is it makes more sense to try to extend him now as opposed to after the season when other teams will try to drive up the price, no? Edit: Thanks riverside sluggers. I feel better now.
  19. When will the Red Sox learn? I understand they may not want to sign Beckett to a long term deal just yet to see how he responds to Boston and the AL East. But what if, say, he goes 15-8 with a 3.40 ERA this year and makes his 200 innings and 30 starts? He'll go to free agency and land a 6 year/60 million dollar contract from some other team. Why not sign him up for at least 2-3 years right now when we have him already under contract? Give him a deal like Arroyo (3years/15 million). Hell, they have no problem blowing 10 million on Kim, 18 on Lowell... I just don't get it. They always shoot themselves in the foot by nickle and diming a player until they hit free agency. Don't they realise that by letting a player go to free agency they always ALWAYS pay more in the end - or lose the player all together? It's a no win situation. note: I thought when we first got Beckett we'd have him through 2007. This quote if from the Herald so I assume it's true.
  20. Jeez. Those custom titles you guys chose are kinda dorky and not very imaginative.
  21. Yes, Sox Fan. Thanks for everyting! I'll get you that info tonight.
  22. so I DID make the grid after all, huh? You're the best, man. Seriously, you're like the nicest dude I've ever known....
