  1. I always hated Frank Castillo. He consistently has a 5 ERA, and takes FOREVER to pitch. Guys like him are the reason games run 3+ hours.
  2. No doubt in my mind that he'll pitch well. In fact, he just got the first batter out.
  3. I dont mind Bob Ryan actually. I like how he said Jason Kidd's wife should be slapped. And fourzerosix, i think what yeszir was referring to was posted on http://www.bostondirtdogs.com a coupla days ago. You may have difficulty finding it though.
  4. He'll pitch well, I hope. I think he'll feed off the energy left over from last night, as well as the electricity that is always in the air at fenway when the sox have a great pitcher on the mound. I cant wait for the game to start!
  5. Red Sox and Patriots, at about the same level (maybe the edge goes to the sox).
  6. I dont think so: from: http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/16293.htm But he could just be denying it to keep the pressure/publicity to a minimum. That says he'd play second base, which I think is ridiculous. The mfy seem to want to sign everyone from one position and convert them to another. And people say they arent bad for baseball.
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1779653 He's on the 15 day DL after his first start with a strained elbow. He's most likely to miss 3 starts, and for the 'stros, this could be relaitvely big. They need Andy in their rotation to remain competitive (they have a great team, but they play in an even greater division).
  8. I have a question regarding some plays in that game. Both Crespo and Kapler dove into first base to beat out infield hits. Does this really get you there faster, or is it just an injury risk for over-eager players? I hate to see players dive like that directly onto the base. It seems like a broken hand/finger waiting to happen to me.
  9. My friend, who was also at the game, told me some fans were tossing around a blow up doll in right field. Is this true? If so, thats damn funny. But Pedro was in the zone, he was great, and he kept his pitch total down (since it now means so much to the team). Cant wait to see schilling mow em down tomorrow after this game.
  10. I saw an ad for it on opening day. I actually want to see this, no matter how depressing it'll turn out in the end. Looks like a good way to get to know the players.
  11. Hey, I just signed up and am impressed so far. This place looks awesome. I look forward to having discussions with you guys as the season goes on!
  12. You were surprised you mean, not impressed. 86 mph is not impressive, no matter who throws it (excepting Tim Wakefield, if he could throw 86 consistently he would be even better!). It wasn't even really surprising though, since he had thrown in spring training, and we all knew that he was experimenting as a pitcher. You dont entertain thoughts of pitching to big leaguers unless you can actually do it.
  13. I have a pay cbs sportsline account. I think I paid 14 dollars for my team, and the winner of the league gets 50 I believe. Its nicer than yahoo, and more professional. I dont mind shelling out the extra 15 or so bucks for it.
  14. I just signed up, and now I am using Ortiz's mullet as my avatar; . You like?
  15. performance smerformance, they won didnt they? Hoepfully they dont pull an Athletics and lose three in a row.....
  16. Mccarty should be used solely for emergency situations. This one was a borderline emergency situation, because, as was already said, tje entire team was beat and the bullpen sorely needed rest.
  17. Mccarty...... I'm not sure why they chose this time to put him in, when the game was within reach. Now he just gave up a 2 run double, and the sox are down by 5.
  18. http://forums.nyyfans.com/showthread.php?threadid=60111 LOOK WHOSE BITCHING NOW
  19. And Timlin's woes continue. He's been struggling mightily of late. I hope nothing is wrong with him, those were 3 hard hit doubles in that last inning over outfielders' heads. But I do understand the logic in not going to the bullpen. They've been so worn out over the past 3 games (I know its weird saying that this early in the season, but its true), especially after last nights 13 inning fiasco.
  20. If I were you, I'd save the money and just watch it from home, sicne you'd most likely overpay for bad seats. Plus, I remember reading that you're going tomorrow, seeing pedro v halladay, so why see Arroyo/ Just my two cents though. I cant wait for the game to start!
  21. HAHA! Thats so well done! They all look COMPLETELY out of it. I like the Ortiz one the best.
  22. Hi payoffpitch. I like the alliteration in your name.
  23. Bobby Jones will now by synonymous with "way back" Wasdin and Pete Schourek in my mind. Damn, the sox have had some terrible relievers in recent years. Bring back El Guapo!
  24. What sites do you use when trying to look up stats or form an argument on something? There are some amazing resources out there, but I tend to use: http://www.baseball-reference.com/ http://baseball1.com/ http://www.baseballnewsstand.com/ You should all check them out. I love seeing posts heavily backed by stats, because it actually can lead to a successful argument. You can see stats from every game back a hundred years (and even more) with these sites. It's truly amazing what some people have done.
