I dont get why weve come to accept that 3rd, 4th, 5th place finishes year after year .... with no playoff series wins is a team that has no holes.

Losing should have consequences.

Regardless of what you think, they're not going to overhaul a team that won 89 and 87 7games in the past 2 years.   They probably only add one bat,, and it isn't going to be De La Cruz,,,

Almost all of us know the difference between what we suggest and what we actually think will happen.

True, we won't trade for DLC or Abrams. It's probably 99% we don't sign Sato or Suzuki.

Maybe Arozarena or Chisholm are below 80%, but I have my doubts on even moves like those.

To me, one main driver will be JH's budget and Brez's willingness to trade some big contracts to gain more budget space. We won't trade Arias, and trading others will be playing Whack-A-Mole.

If the return with mostly the team we had last April, I have no reason to think that we'll be better this April.

Well, hopefully they can replace Duran’s “production” with a full season of Anthony.  They should get more than 2 plate appearances from Mead next year. And Rutschman is an upgrade at the plate over Narvaez.  So they’ve already made some changes over last April…

Postseason?

Maybe because it feels like 2/3 the AL is trying to lose.  But I dont root for that complacency. I sincerely hope that we finish dead last.  I hate this shoot for third BS.

Anthony is a ground ball hitter who cant stay healthy.

He does need to stay healthy, which he did do in the minors,  He’s also a career .800 OPS hitter at age 23 with only 500 career plate appearances.  You give up too early…

You don't think having Mead and AR on next April's roster is a plus?

Yes, we will will subtract Gray, Sandoval, IKF and others we don't even know about yet.

Counting on more from Anthony seems like a broken record.

Counting on pre-prime and prime players to improve failed this year, so why hope for better next year?

The bench and SP'er depth helped us go 32-5 and then let us down in October, so they all suck and should be changed out, this winter.

The pen has overperformed two straight seasons, so expect them to implode.

Let's just start over with a whole new 26.

(Hope you get the sarcasm. I'm under the weather the last couple days and kinda grumpy.)

He looks the part.  Im not giving up on him.  Im just sick of not winning.  Look at the results, year after year.  3rd place, easy out in playoffs....3rd place, easy out in playoffs......third place no playoffs, fifth place no playoffs, fifth place no playoffs

Those are our last 5 finishes.

Run it back, and its going to be different this time?

I would embrace a whole new 26.

One of Jordan Walker, James Wood, Elly, Tatis or no baseball is my hope

Did you want Jordan Walker 12 months ago? (Hint: no one did.)

Tatis was the one I thought might be available because of his contract. Apparently SD has said he is not available. Zero chance Wood or Walker are either.  And I doubt De La Cruz is.

The trick should be not to find last year’s stars, but instead find next year’s.  You shot me done when I suggested Miguel Vargas a year ago.  Turns out, he’s a star now.

Next year's Miguel Vargas/Jordan Walker will be Coby Mayo.  Can the Sox get him instead?

If you cant tell thats the way the league is headed, I dont know what to tell you.  IF you see a bunch of 5'5 guys trying to take on a bunch of 6'5 guys in an athletic competition....I would advise you not to bet on the 5'5 guys

I'm not sure any of us are shooting for 3rd place, again. Most of us thought we got better and then we added Mead & AR and saw what we have with Tolle &  Bennett.

I could be 100% wrong, but I doubt Brez & Co thought we'd end the season like we did. I'm not so sure they were all lying when they said they felt like they built a competitive team. I know that's a loaded word, as some think 3rd place out of 15 teams is competitive and still others feel the playoffs is a near total crap shoot.

It's hard to project where we place on paper going into 2027. We subtract Gray and some bums and mehs, and we add full seasons by AR, Mead and a mess or IL players that ended the season off the IL. Take that for what it's worth and compare to what the Rays and Yanks will lose and can view as gains.

We're probably still around 3rd. The winter could change that.

I won't be happy, if we start 2027 listed 3rd on fangraphs or other projection sites.

You wanted Walker when he was coming off a season with a .584 OPS?

If Jazz is your only offensive addition we will be projected fourth.

Yes, he was a top prospect and hes 6'5 with arms the size of legs and legs the size of a house.

Our average finish with the current core is fourth.

It's a better core than April 2026.

What AL team improved by more than we did from April '26?

How do we fall to 4th? CLE or CWS passed us?

Smarty Jones and Altuve are the rare exceptions. Its not wise to count on 9 undersized heroes.

Plus full seasons from Mead, Rutschman and hopefully Anthony…

So, you dont count Mead, AR and a near full returning rotation & Anthony as additions?
