I know we're missing two All-Star hitters, but it can't be a coincidence that this month also welcomed back two (I won't say stars) stalwarts considered our best hitters a year ago... who, granted, have contributed some big hits, but also early autumnal breezes.

The penalties that MLB would impose for that type of forfeit would be astronomical.  To start with, there would be a huge fine, almost certainly 9 figures. They’d probably add in loss of high round draft picks and probably a ban on international signings. 
 

As for saving pitching, you’ll see Suarez, Burgos, maybe some guy out of Worcester.  Back end of the pen.  Frontline pen types might pitch one inning to stay sharp, but that’s it. Otherwise, it will be guys who don’t figure to be on the 1st round postseason roster.
