That Ceddanne hit puts him at a respectable .791. That's about 50th out of 135 qualifying players in MLB.

Last year, he was at .791 on July 11th, .764 on August 3rd and down to .714 by August 24th.

He ended up dipping down to .682 by September 18th, but rebounded at the end to get up to his final .708 OPS. (114th out of 145.)

In 2024, he finished the season at .664 (117th out of 129.) He was at .710 on August 13th.

That was two years in a row of pretty poor endings, but he doesn't seem to be slowing down, this year. He still has ups and downs, but not nearly as prolonged.

His range of OPS (sounds like an Army term) has been:

May: .683-.793

June:.758-.804

July: .758-.781

August: .784-.808 (so far)

Of course, as the season rolls on, the wide fluctuations are harder to be so wide.

Monthly OPS: .712>.825>.735>.844>.837

2025 OPS: .598>.698>.870> .852>.583> .669

2024 OPS: .561>.698> .714> .813> .655> .512

Actually he hadn't had an extra base hit in his last 43 at bats. That was his 30th double of the season.

Regarding #2, let's say we're going back to the South Bronx again for three Wild Card games in October. Is there any scenario where we don't want Tolle pitching one of the first two games with elimination always looming?
