Sonny isn’t sharp but he knows how to pitch

Ahh, the difference between a thrower and a real pitcher.

It’s been revealed lately.

Sadly though his Midas Touch does work both ways and the players he trades away often turn to hold as well…

Exactly.

The guy made a lot of good moves, and many discounted them based on the team record. Some pointed to DHam and Jordan, Tibbs and Meidroth as Brez blunders.

I can't help but chuckle.

Several moves from last year or the winter before are just starting to show value.

How about the Tolle draft pick? When's the last time a Sox GM got this much value from a pitching draftee so soon after a draft?

If Breslow had acquired Bregman, would he have gone after Contrares? I'm guessing no.

Signing Bregman over anyone would have been a major error .  I'll take what we have now but they did test all patience before July

I agree. Bregman was nowhere near good bang for the buck.

The baseball season has always been a marathon, never a sprint.

Are there many opinions out there as to whether the firing of Cora and the plugging in of the INTERIM Tracy made any real difference?

Recall that the Sox went from 7 under quickly in April under Cora to 14 under by late June under Tracy. 17-2 since.

Or was it firing Driveline?

The Sox lost a ton of close games before this winning started. So they were really never a truly bad team. Their run differential proved that.

3 runs on no hits. Earlier in the season the Sox would get 3 hits and no runs.

All of the extra bases, too…

There's no excuse for a player who has speed and isn't a power hitter to not know how to bunt.

Every LH hitter in the minors should be taught to lay down a routing bunt.  There are 3Bs out there playing in the SS hole against lefties, because they can't bunt and cannot go the other way.  If you can lay down any type of reasonable bunt, you'll tie the 3B to within 10 feet of 3B.
