Perhaps that changes the "crapshoot" perspective.

If nobody is goo- all playoff teams have a shot at winning the AL Pennant.

Even if the Yanks record comes down, the Sox have no chance of beating them in a normal series even if Judge is out.

The Royals scored 27 runs in their 4-1 WS win.

They scored 36 runs in their 4-2 win over TOR to make the WS.

They scored 25 runs vs HOU in the ALDS.

Yes, their O sucked over the year, and so did their rotation.

Hey it’s not like there are multiple World Series winners each year.

And the Brewers reached the NLCS twice, but your graphic equated it to losing the singular WC game.  If you reach the LCS, it was clearly working in the postseason…

Correct. Fourth place team since Henry the Cheap failed to acquire the necessary talent to augment what we started with. I still think fourth place is the best guess though dead last is still in second place.

We aren't making the playoffs. The season for the FLOPS is already over. In a league that sucks we suck more than just three teams in terms of winning percentage in the AL of the 15 teams. We are playing bums like IKF and Durbin and Gaspar out there nearly every day. Bello has sucked too. We were counting on him to deliver and he delivered an egg. I don't often wager but I would be willing to wager that we will not make the playoffs this year and will accept bets from anyone interested in losing their money on this.

I would not bet against hardly any AL team not reaching .475. That's the point.

It's no feather in the Sox cap to back into the playoffs with a losing record.

So your argument is that other bad teams now qualify for the WC. Are the FLOPS currently in the playoffs if the season ended today? Keep in mind that our winning percentage is worse than only three AL teams. We suck and our roster sucks. That is why we will not be playing baseball in October. Other teams might suck too, but we suck worse.

My argument has merit.

We suck. As of now, all but two AL teams suck too. 

It's a free-for-all on who makes the playoffs. Just because we suck, doesn't mean we are out of the playoff hunt.

Please don't tell me the rosters on the other 12 AL teams impress you. You are smarter than that.

If the entire league sucks (and it does) and we are in last place, we dont suck.  We are at least a couple full tiers down below suck.  Cuz to suck in a sucky league, youd need to be middle of the pack. We are not middle of the pack.

In terms of pure playoff chances, sure.  Prob 27% thereabouts.  If there were 2 wild card teams and the AL was average in terms of talent instead of the race to cut money that the al has become , we'd be at 7%

Maybe they have better stats than us. They have a whopping 9 run differential lead on us.

Of the six teams between us and the playoffs, 4 have worse run differentials (two by 32 runs!) That's not to say run differential is an exact science, but there is about 110 games left to play.

No other team, other than the NYY and TBR have a clearly better roster than us in the AL.

If we keep playing like this, the chances of sneaking in are not good, but even playing this badly, a chance remains.

Again, not because I have faith we might do better, but only because I have equal faith in most of those 6 teams doing worse.

Two teams ahead of those 6 are the 29-27 CWS and the 27-29 TOR Blue Jays. Both of them can collapse at any minute.

Yes, we are embarrasingly sucky. To suck this badly in a weak league is super sucky. I'm not saying we don't suck.
