Alex Gonzales, Lowrie, Iglesias and Scutaro were good enough though.

Lowrie sucked too. Scutaro meh. Iglesias was the best of that bunch and trading him in 2013 was a horrible move as well. Almost derailed the whole world series run. Jake Peavey was horrible

Those are some pretty scary numbers on Shaw. I hate the idea of trading for one year guys, but Hoerner would be a big boost to our 2026 chances.

Of course Sandoval would not be the centerpiece to the return package, but he has one year left, too and his contract cost would help pay for Hoerner. I'm not sure who the Cubs want, but we have pitching. Maybe Crawford and Sandoval? (Bello and Sandoval?)

He has no offensive value, equally bad as a platoon player.  Good glove, but he is nothing more than a defensive back up.  Glad that they got Durban to hold down 2B.

This offense as constructed will not produce a lot of runs.  Maybe the games will be fast.

I think the Cubs wanted Tolle or Early as part of a package for Hoerner. I like Hoerner as a player, but I think Tolle and Early were non-starters for the Sox.

It was the one year of control vs 6, that makes me say NO!

I do wonder, sometimes, if we didnt have Tolle and Early, would they have taken Witherspoon or Valera?

Maybe two years ago, when Hoerner was not in his option year…

For one year of Hoerner? Not a chance!

So they had to sign someone for the sake of signing someone? Whata f***ing joke!

IKF signing looks more as a reaction Romy's injury. He has played some first base in the spring and can be a backup to all infield positions. If Mayer struggles against lefties, then maybe there is a platoon situation. I don't think he was every signed to be a full-time starter.
