A game insight from Capt Obvious:

If Crochet and the BP can hold the Rays to two runs or less, the Sox have a chance.

That’s the ONLY way the Flops win

Not relevant.

My point is if we tie with Cleveland for the last spot, the Sox are in and Cleveland is not.If we tie with Setroit for the last playoff spot, we’re out.

And Cleveland isnt trying to catch the Sox; they are aiming for Detroit.  (They’ll settle for passing Boston.)

If we sweep DET, it's relevant. We'd be 3-3 vs them.

The way DET is playing, they may be passed, even if CLE goes 5-4.

They’re nice thing about not getting in would be that there’s a better chance of getting rid of Breslow and Cora and a bunch of incompetent position players

That us my thought too. Makes it easier to advocate for changes if this group fails.

Do not confuse this with rooting against them or for others.  But an opinion that the team needs reasons to take some hard choices. For example. bite the bullet on Yoshida

So the LOBs with RISP starts early  tonight.

Seeing the Rays in all black with 88% humidity makes me wonder if they wear them with the sun out. Or maybe they forget they are not in the Trop.

Not making the playoffs is an excellent reason to call for major changes. But in order for that to happen another team has to help us out by getting in. That’s not a bad thing at this point.

Whatever happens Brez isn't getting fired and neither is Cora. JH loves Cora. In fact, it was JH who made the decision to hire him because of diversity. The only way Cora is removed from the dugout is if he's made GM.

We’ll see

Winning run on 1B

Crochet may struggle somewhat tonight as you are seeing. Gives up 2 out run scoring hit,  20 pitches.

But nowhere as bad as Gio and the  Bell-boy

Btw, not many top executives want the CBO job for the Red Sox.

You are completely nuts if you think the fans, the ones who basically pay for this franchise, are clamoring for a new owner, a new manager, and not going to the postseason.

I share your frustration to some degree, but I also appreciate how this team developed this season despite 13 freaking starters and 33 pitchers and--wait for it--playing 7 rookie (Campbell, Mayer, Anthony, Narvaez, Tolle, Early, and Garcia).

The Sox had several excellent winning streaks, especially 10 in a row right before the ASG when the Sox pitching was superb and the hitting just good enough.   Less than a month ago we were all thrilled when the Sox took 3 of 4 from the Yankees and the 4 of 4 from the Orioles--at terrific road trip.

Then the wheels came off right after our best hitter Anthony went on the IL--while Bregman stayed in his slump, ditto Rafaela, and the pitching started giving up more runs,.  So of course we're disappointed, but that does not mean this team hasn't given us a heckuva season completely unlike 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Can you call it from the Guardians' forum?

Go Guardians!

Help us out. We need to be eliminated to foster major changes this offseason. It’s inevitable anyway. These bums aren’t making the playoffs.

I think Cora, with FO approval is setting Crochet up to pitch the final game vs Detroit, if needed.

So a short 5-6 inning outing with lots of run support was hoped for. Not happening.

Even with GC pitching they are playing from behind

Timely hit by Lowe, great running by Eaton. Narvaez,  shows nothing, Cedanne jammed into DP muffed by TB

That run scored by Eaton was unreal because he scored from 1b on a single that was fielded cleanly and followed by an excellent throw to home plate.

You're completely nuts if you think Flops fans are going put up with a non competitive team year after year without some major changes. You're completely nuts if you think all those wonderful winning streaks are going to matter a single bit when we are eliminated. And you’re completely nuts if you think it’s a good idea to depend on any rookie to carry the team.
Too many bums; not enough talent.
