Long relief perhaps.

I hope not, a 6 man rotation makes much more sense and throwing Harrison in a long relief role sounds like giving up on him.

Man, if someone had told you that 3 lefty starters would make their Boston debuts in September 2025, you would have assumed we were in 2012-style garbage time.

we really haven't had this many high level pitching prospects in a long time haven't we

It's just what they need for the last few weeks of the season, not for the rest of is career. Plus, if he's in the bullpen, he can lean on his FB more and not have to worry about the pitch mix the Sox were tinkering with that caused his on field numbers to dip in AAA.

Where does Harrison fit in, or does he not?

With 3 off days, he may not.  Assuming they are goimg to try and keep the big 3 on 5 days rest, they won't need a 6th starter until late next week.  It would also come up the following week.  A lot will depend on what the standings are.  Tweaks could be made for the Toronto and Detroit series.

that's true. It looks like the Sox have had trouble finding him a good #2 pitch. I think they see potential in his slider (5% usage up to 18% since joining) but it is far from a finished product. With Criswell injured it does make sense for him to be the long man to come up.

Maybe Tolle goes 3-4 IP and Harrison follows with 3-4 IP. Day off, then a 6 man rotation, except we have another day off on Monday and then the next Monday. The only time we have 6 straight games is from Sept 16-21 and then 23-29.

If we called up Harrison, then, it would work better.

Here is the day off schedule:

today

off

3 games

Sox will have more than enough injured pitchers that can be "replaced" by Early or any other AAA guy they want. The 40 man roster designation is a formality.

40 is the new 60.

Every ache and pain is self-inflicted, whether you're in your 40s or 60s.

Except injuries in my 40s were from diving in the outfield or sliding into bases.

Injuries in my 60s are walking up or down stairs, lifting grocery bags, or sleeping.
