I read somewhere Harrison was working on both a new pitch and a new grip for an existing pitch. If so, that would explain not only his mediocre numbers to start in Worcester, but also why other itcherscwere primoted first.

of course the Early promotion is silly to count against Harrison; Kyle was to be promoted last week (earlier than Early) but instead injured his ankle…

I get it and i know Devers was a selfish, overpaid, POS, but we should have gotten better players in trade.

Projection of 2026 - 2 of the 3 AAA starters prove to be the real deal which leaves those currently on the IL being expendable.  Brigham is going to opt out and we won't win the re-sign.  I would move Story to third with Mayer at short.  You have to keep Gonzales since he has the best BA and plays many positions.  First is wide open and a free agency sign or trade for those expendable starters works.  I would trade Abreu (I like Duran better).  Bullpen looks OK.  Ryan is expensive but maybe worth the price.  The Oriole catcher is worth a look.

I'm not sure Story's arm is strong enough for 3B, but he'd be way better than Devers was. He'd also be Mayer's back-up at SS, so we'd still need a viable 3B back-up option and a 2Bman, not names Campbell, Grissom of DHam. I'm fine keeping DHam as depth, and moving Campbell to LF, which is made easier if we include an OF'er in the trade for Ryan.

Don't wanna jinx anything but DET just put up 8 on the Yanks in the 7th and lead 10-2. HOU is holding on vs TOR 3-1 in the 7th.

CLE beat KCR and TEX is up, early.

Detroit has scored 11 runs with only 7 hits. All 9 batters in the 7th inning scored a run.

Brez also brought in Slaten, Lowe and draft picks we've seen or will see in the bigs, already:

Early & Tolle

Campbell

Montgomery helped get us Crochet, so that was a double get by Brez.

Indeed.

Thanks to you, I always check those scores before coming onto talksox.

Perhaps.  My version is that letting Devers and his .905 OPS go was tricky, especially with Bregman on the IL.  I think Devers was the ideal DH even though overpriced.

However, Devers was also in vocal and public disagreement with how he was being asked to DH and then to play 1B.  More than that, the Sox were changing right before our eyes because during Devers final week the Sox had a terrific, needed 6 game winning streak that was all about the Sox pitching.  On top of that, Breslow wanted to bring up that top talent from Worcester.  Bregman was a great fit with them even from the bench, and Devers was not.  Right around the time Bregman returned, the Sox went on an 8 game winning streak which also benefitted from the pitching.

Right now, I think it's fair to say that Devers bat is missed, but not what came with the bat.  As for the deal, let's not forget that Breslow was peddling a very pricey DH with another 10 years left on his big contract--and the Giants didn't blink.  They took every cent of it.  Whew.  The players were incidental.

This is a typically stupid, dumb, asinine lineup by Cora.  Heck, he's got a seriously injured guy--who's also too old to play anyway, batting cleanup.  Bregman's batting 2d in a slump.

There, just like a told you.  Duran, batting 5th, struck out.  Why is he in the lineup!!!?????

not to dampen the hot start but toronto has tied things with Houston and go to hit in the bottom of the 10th in a 3-3 game. unfortunately doesn't look we'll gain a game on them, but picking one up over NY is massive.

Impossible to dampen the first inning of this game.  Besides, a loss by Houston affects whether they get a bye in the first round.
