I know.  What about it?

7 out of 162 is not a significant number.  We get caught up in the parity of MLB to think that it is, and don’t want to recognize it because it can cost hundreds of millions for teams to improve minimally…

So you're arbitrarily determining what's significant.

The Ms got Naylor. We could have used him.

Ok, but as I said, almost no one has made a move yet.  This happens every single year at the deadline.

A move or two isn't analogous with everyone making moves and switching teams.  It's like popping popcorn and you heard two kernels pop.

The Yankees were busy. The just traded for a 3B man. The deadline is just five days away and so far Breslow has done nothing-especially not spending a dime the cheapskate owner saved by jettisoning the malcontent Devers. From what I have read ownership isn’t inclined to make any major moves-which is actually probably a good decision given the talent level on the team today.

So you’re angry at them for not making a move, top of the first inning for trade deadline deals, but you’re angry they haven’t made one yet to a team that you now say may not be good enough to add any talent?

your post is confusing.

Understood. Let me clear it up. I don’t think they SHOULD make a move that trades anyone significant this year because I don’t think they will be able to plug enough holes for this team to make an enjoyable October run. Saves those moves for the offseason.

That said if they don’t try to improve the team that says to me that management is STILL not committed to putting a good product on the field-AGAIN. Last year they played it halfway. That indecisiveness demoralized the players and told the fans what the FO thought of the team. If Breslow did pull off something significant-even though I think it’s a mistake-it would demonstrate a level of commitment to improving the team I haven’t seen in several years. But he has to go ALL IN-not some half assed effort like last year. I would applaud him for committing to improving the team-even though I think it’s fruitless this year.

I said a 7 game difference over 162 games is not 'miniscule'.  You said it's not significant, which is a much different word.

This kind of sounds like advocating the “hug the line” strategy at the deadline that we’ve all grown to hate and arguably got Breslows predecessor fired.

id rather they sell, and stock up on assets for Bergman, Chapman, and Gio.

my first preference is to buy and make a run

I’d rather they sell too rather than be buyers in a futile attempt to compete for a ring this year or next. They simply don’t currently have the base of talent to do so. Toro and Gonzalez and some of his mates aren’t the answer. Neither are the dumpster dive pitchers they tend to sign, Crochet being the obvious exception. He looks like the real deal. Hopefully he can stay healthy.
