I could be wrong, but I think that first pitch groundout was off Bello's first changeup today.  So maybe part of the problem is with whoever is calling the pitches.  The biggest problem is obviously command.  52 pitches, 30 strikes.  After 2 innings, he has faced the Jays top 3 hitters twice.

If you give up a run per inning, how many do your guys need to score to pull out a win ? Depends on how many innings AC lets him go before pulling Brayan for inefficient pitching

Bello wasn’t going to get to first in time on that chopper. Not quite ERod level but …

His absence was certainly noticeable.  Maybe he was busy calling for a new ball

Both hits by lefty batters Abreu and and Mayer.  Story, Wong, and Rafaela are hitless plus Rafaela has the GIDP.  Story k'd with Anthony on 2b.

Berrios has thrown 22 pitches in 2 IP with 17 strikes.;

Anyone know why lefty bat Mayer ain't at 3b?

Does JH realize how much money he could save over a 162 game season if he backcharged pitchers for rejecting new balls just because they don't like the seams ?       Bello alone could be worth $5K-$10K a year.

This ain't on Cora.  2 runs is not the ball game, and he absolutely needs to get as many IP out of Bello as the can because the bullpen has struggled recently.

Thanks.  My goodness.  Maybe Sogard can deliver.

Jays have 7 hits, all singles.  It's usually the extra base hits that cause the biggest concern.

Nice play by Wong for the 3d out.

Whoever said the Jays could sweep has a point.  They have hitting and pitching, and the Sox have neither.

Yes, it’s over-in that the Flops will never catch up. They might score a couple of runs but by then the Jays will have six

Am I wrong about Bello's changeup?  Isn't it one of his best pitches?  Why hasn't it been called for more often?

That replay shows that Wong's play was pretty easy for the 3d out.

What's unfortunate is that Bello is probably the Sox 2nd base starter.

Heck, he IS the Sox second best starter.  Before this game his June ERA was 2.49.

The announcers (both TV and radio) have said he’s throwing it 2 mph faster this year than he did last year, which means less drop.  So it gets hit more and harder, so it gets called less,

I thought it was Houck….er….Fitts….er..Buehler

Never mind. We don’t have a second best pitcher.

That makes sense.  But before this game Bello was having his best season ever.

Is it too late to stretch Chapman into a starter?

Heck, he doesn't even get many chances to close.

This loss will be his SIXTH loss against one win in June
