When Bregman returns, it's gonna be a platoon fest.

I forgot to mention infielder time at DH.

Right now, it looks like the OF'ers will cover DH until Breg's return, but afterwards, maybe it will be wide open.

The Toro-Romy experiment may be over by then, too, so Campbell could play 1B.

They were/are expensive, but worth it.   I think Bres has JH's confidence.  Plus 3 of the 4 rookies look pretty good and are inexpensive, as are Toro, Doran, Rafaela, and Abreu.   Giolito is a $40M bust except when he has back to back quality starts for wins.  Buehler is a bust. Story is overpriced but I like him.  Yoshida is overpriced.

Calling Giolito a bust at this point is interesting.  In giolito, I was expecting a solid innings eating 3.  He is still at this point actually recovering.  Every pitcher is gong to have their ups and downs.  I like him.

I did say "except."  The implication is that he just might be effective.  His last 2 starts were terrific.  And you could be right that he is still recovering.  If that keeps up, Bello pitches like his last time, Dobbins like Dobbins his last time, we just might have a rotation and pitching staff.  Tonight from the bullpen came rejuvenated Whitlock (ERA 2.89), monster Chapman (1.45!!!), and effective Weissert (2.65).  And there are others.

Don't get me wrong about Giolito.  I'm sort of nice now, but I have dumped on him relentlessly for the past 15 months or so.  Your attitude is the right one.

Btw, the Yankems broke their 30 straight innings of scoreless ball and are now trailing the Angels 3-2 going into the bottom of the 8th.

Over there, over there,

Send the word, send the word over there-

That the Yanks are coming

The Yanks are coming

The drums rum-tumming,

Everywhere.

So prepare, say a prayer

Send the word, send the word to beware

We'll be over, we're coming over

And we won't come back till it's over

Over there.

When Bregman returns, I think Breslow will want to trade someone.

The record for consecutive scoreless innings is 48. The 1906 Philadelphia Athletics and the 1968 Chicago Cubs.

Cleveland 1-0 over San Francisco in the 2d.

Game ovah! Yanks lost.

A few weeks ago the baseball gods were notified that Judge was hitting .400. Realizing this wasn't right, they said to each other we have to fix this. And fix it they did. Judge is now hitting around .370 and his average continues to drop like an Acme anvil. Baseball takes a player back to reality faster than any other team sport.

That is not a cheap shot.  It's well written and insightful.  Because I'll always be a Ted Williams fan, I don't want anyone hitting .400 for the season.  Other than that, I like Judge because he's good in the outfield as well as at the plate.  He pretty much earns his insane salary.

Unfortunately, the baseball gods were handcuffed when steroids entered the game. They were prevented from taking players like Bonds and Clemens back to reality.

Don't worry MAX. No one will ever hit .400 again.

I'm rooting against Devers.

I am too, not because I think Devers is a bum, but because I don't want 10,000 sports commentators screaming, "we told you so, we told you so."

Devers took the wrong tack, but Breslow gets a lot of the blame.  Now Devers gets a fresh start, and I think the Sox will be fine.

If you go with the premise that Devers wanted out of Boston, all this BS makes more sense.

Or not.  I don't see Campbell in the infield or outfield.  Toro hits righties a lot better than Campbell, and Gonzalez hits lefties a lot better.  Duran, Abreu, Rafaela, and even Anthony are better choices in the outfield--assuming Anthony's hitting picks up as it should.

Buehler is simply a placeholder.

Maybe Giolito can give us 1 more year. He is good when its going for him. Maybe higher ceiling than Buehler at this stage in their respective careers.

We are waiting for Bello to take a step forward.

 Dobbins look promising.

Is it possible that Kyle H will join the starting rotation at some point?

Than add the Detroit ace in 2027.

Maybe I was right about the Yanks not being much better that the rest of the AL.

The Astros are tied with them, while missing more than half their rotation.

Right now, they are 1.5 better than the Rays and 2.0 better than the Jays.

Sure, they are 4 better than us, but they are swinging downwards,

In 1941 when Williams hit .406, DiMaggio won the MVP award. But here's the kicker. During the same period that DiMaggio hit in 56 straight games, Williams had the higher batting average.

It seemed like yesterday the Sox were 11.5 games behind them.

I think you assume batter continue hitting like they have so far.

Toro is already coming down to earth (2 for last 17) and it's a long way to Bregman's return. Maybe Toro still deserves the 1B platoon by then, but maybe not.

The way Campbell is playing now, I agree, but Toro is not doing well, either. Don't look, now: most of our O is not doing well. It's hard to project who will be deserving in August.

I highly doubt that Joe's 56 straight will ever be broken. Btw, right after his 56 straight was ended he immediately had an 18 game streak.

And it's entirely possible he wanted out the day he learned he was no longer the Sox thirdbaseman.

I'm convinced if these players spent less time in the weight room, there'd be less tendon and muscle injuries.
